The Solitude Mountain Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon is a four-season vacation destination. The winter ski season runs from November to April and averages over 500 inches of snow. Solitude is typically the first ski resort to open in Utah, and features over 2000 foot vertical rise and eight ski lifts servicing 64 trails. In addition, Solitude is located just two miles from Brighton Ski Resort (a favorite of snowboarders). From May through October, you can enjoy hiking, mountain-biking, fishing, wildlife outings, and weekend get-away.
My wife and I, along with 2 boys bought our dream condo in Solitude! As a transplanted Canadian, I know snow, and the snow at Solitude is amazing. We live down at the bottom of Big Cottonwood Canyon so are just a stones throw away if you have any issues so come on up and enjoy your stay!
Cameron Roe purchased this condo in 2013
The one bedroom & den combination is the perfect situation for a family or friends. Not too big and expensive but still roomy and comfortable. We've tried to put everything in the room that you could want for a family ski trip (including Xbox!) but if there is anything you need just call.
While the winter is amazing and the snow the best in the world, you really should try the summers up in Solitude. Nice and cool at 8500 feet to beat the heat of the Salt Lake valley, yet close enough to go out to shows and theaters.
This property was exactly what was needed for the perfect summer vacation. All the comforts of home plus some. The unit was clean, stocked with all of the necessities, plus room for our own items. The live music on the weekends were a bonus. Everyone loved the pool. Morning hikes were spectacular. Thank you for allowing us to stay and giving us the perfect get away!!
I would definitely recommend to a friend
Very clean, well stocked, easy entry with great description, responsive owners........ the only thing they couldn't provide was fresh snow!
Very clean, everything we needed, comfortable beds and attentive hosts.
We hope to come back next year!
Condo was nicely appointed...my wife had me txt the owners upon arrival and thank them for how well the kitchen was stocked to fit her needs. The bedding was comfortable...never had a problem w/ being cold. We had 4 in our group and had plenty of towels for a 3 night stay. Room is just around the corner from the elevator which is nice. We played a very competitive game of Monopoly one night...which my 13yr old son won (he now thinks he is a real estate prodigy). We go to Solitude once a year and will definitely try and rent this unit again...owners were great to deal with (very informative, accommodating, and available). Also, very easy to order pizza from the shop next to the skating rink...calzone was very good.
We recently stayed here and would definitely stay here again. I gave this place four stars due to the bedding. The blankets are thin, like Motel 6 thin and the foam rubber pillows are really uncomfortable (I'm spoiled by staying at the Westin, were Heavenly Beds exist). If you are picky about sleeping well, I'd suggest you bring your own pillow/duvet. Otherwise you have to crank up the heat to stay warm under the thin blankets. It would also be nice to have more towels on premise if you shower every day.
Everything else was great. We especially appreciated the well stocked kitchen with spices, coffee pot, etc...It was well decorated and clean. The owners took great care in communicating how everything worked and where everything was located.
It’s not just about getting away; it’s where you find yourself. Solitude’s charming, European-style village hosts many appetizing restaurants, comfortable accommodations and Club Solitude, where you, your family and friends can enjoy a multitude of activities from hot tubs, swimming pool, theatre, billiards and fitness facility. The Village is the center for many fun activities, such as ice skating, snowshoeing or making some delicious S’mores by one of the warm fire pits.
The Solitude Mountain Spa is awesome and some hands on pampering after a day a skiing may be just the thing.
