We are Real Estate brokers in California and found Destin to be the most peacefull relaxing place we have ever visited. We love the white sands, the lake out the window, and the proximity to resturants and beaches plus the great pool. We have taken pride in furnishing and decorating and hope tgat you live it here as much as we do.
Rene Pfeif purchased this villa in 2013
Once you walk into our bright airy condo you will feel right at home. Everything you need to feel like home away from home. Plenty of parking. A community pool and conveniently located across the street from the famous Crab Trap restaurant for those nights you don't feel like cooking in your fully equiped kitchen. Or,the large decks are perfect for bbq'ing at home and watching the sunset over the lake each evening with a nice glass of wine
View of the lake, pool just down the walk, across the street from the Gulf and white sand beach with access under the road. A short walk to The Crab Trap for cocktails and great food. Convenient to everything on Scenic 98. Perfect location!!
I was a part of a family of four who stayed here for 5 days. We were able to enter the unit at 4PM just as the cleaning crew was leaving. All-in-all, I would give this property favorable reviews, with a few areas of opportunity depending on what you were looking for.
> Location. No more than a 5 minute walk to the beach via sidewalk and pedestrian tunnel. If you do decide to drive to Hwy 98 where more dining and attractions are, you can utilize Google Maps to avoid a great deal of beach and tourist traffic. The Crab Trap (restaurant) is an easy walk, Capt. Dave's is a bit longer. If you have bikes, you can get to the Surf Hut and other dining options easily.
> Layout. Living area and deck are very roomy. 23B is a downstairs unit so no steps, however there is a unit above you, so expect to hear footsteps (at the minimum).
> Deck. Two ceiling fans really move the air; no worries about being hot in the morning/evening and if you have a spray bottle, staying cool in the middle of the day isn't an issue.
> A/C and appliances: All as advertised. The A/C worked great which can be an issue at Florida properties. Ceiling fans also help move the air. Plenty of hot water.
Things to know:
> The unit has cable, but it is BASIC cable. No sports, no History/Discovery/Disney channels. Essentially broadcast channels and TBS. Not a big issue for us, but plan on watching the big game elsewhere and be prepared to keep kids entertained in other ways.
> Wireless internet works, but only pushes 5MB down and 1MB up, so streaming video could be a challenge. If you have a lot of users on the router at once, speed really slows down.
> All-in-all, the unit was clean, however there was sand in the hide-a-bed and the sheets in the smaller bedroom were clean but stained. We did see two small roaches during our stay. It is Florida and bugs can be an issue, but this was the first time I've experienced this.
> We never received a parting permit unlike other vacationers. We didn't get towed, but don't park in front of Unit 24. The owners of unit 24 had a conversation with the folks in 23A about parking in front of their unit.
> As I mentioned before, there is a unit directly above you. You will hear footsteps. If this is going to be an issue, look at unit 23A (the upstairs one).
We love the Destiny complex. It's our 5th trip, but first time at this unit. Great spot with great sunsets on lake. Unit was clean and looks nice and deck is awesome, but lacks some details. #1 The unit has basic cable (4-5 channels) so you cannot watch ESPN, news, discovery, hgtv, tnt etc - Really aggravating. #2 the furniture in family room is very uncomfortable: 2 wicker chairs and a couch that's just impossible to be comfortable on. My favorite thing in vaca is watch a game and nap on a good chair or sectional, not gonna happen in this unit. The couch also is a sleeper that is totally broken so we had to go buy a blow up mattress at wal mart. #3 the wifi is shared with unit downstairs. 10 people on a wifi router was not good (especially when no tv channels avail and everyone on Netflix). #4 needs more kitchen ware, cups etc. #5 we got 4 towels for the week?! So bring towels. #6 almost every door jams or does not shut totally. Last the stove makes loud noise non stop when it gets to 350. Needs replaced.
Overall the place could be awsome but needs some updates for price you pay.
The owner showed up the day before check out. I have a 16 year old daughter with down syndrome and other health issues. He did not knock, he used code and just opened door and started yelling upstairs, because he gotten wind from house cleaners down stairs that there was a dog. My daughter has a service small dog, a yorkie, he alerts me when something is wrong with her. I myself was not there at that time, my sister in law and brother in law was there, we were suppose to b meeting for dinner, they were cleaning up to do so. The owner was rude to my sister in law. The owner (downstairs), when I called him out on this, he did apologize . He wasn't nice in the begining. He should b told, You can not just open up someone's door and enter, if its RENTED!
It is in a good location being just across the street from the Gulf of Mexico and across from the Crab Trap, a great seafood restaurant. Another good restaurant just down the road is the Surf Hut. The villa is clean, large and comfortable. Hope to return some day.
We have stayed at multiple destiny beach villas the years and this is by far the best. The owners were great. The unit has been recently updated with new furniture flatscreen TVs free Wi-Fi. we can't wait to return next year.
As snowbirds, we rented this villa for 3 months. We preferred the location of this particular villa b/c it is not so close to the noise & busyness of the pool area & heavier resident parking. The villa is furnished nicely w/quality furniture & is very comfortable. It is also easy to work w/the owners who manage it. They are very accommodating. The owners are actively making upgrades/updates. We plan to return to the same villa next winter.
Whitest sand beaches you will ever see. 20 Golf courses within 30 minutes, water sports, Deep sea fishing in the Gulf, Bass fishing, Parasialing, party barges, and numerous other beach and ocean adventures. One of the most peacefull places in the U.S.
