Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Stockbridge - Edinburgh - New Town Hideaway

Stockbridge - 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

Tucked away in Edinburghs beautiful and historic New Town, this apartment offers the best of both worlds. A quiet location, yet still only a 15 minute walk to the centre.

The local area is fantastic and has most things on the doorstep. Within a 2 minute walk there is a handy supermarket open from 07:00 - 22:00 everyday.

Within a 5 minute walk there are around 15 restaurants, 9 bars and a number of cafes and boutiques. Tom Kitchins gastro pub - The Scran and Scallie is amongst those.

On Sunday there is the Stockbridge market, which is just around the corner from the apartment. It has lovely freshly made food and nice local produce to take home. You must try the Steam Punk coffee - served from their converted VW camper van - this must be one of the best coffees available in Edinburgh!.

According to the Sunday Times Stockbridge is the 3rd coolest place to live in the UK!.

This city centre self-catering accommodation enjoys a position within the fashionable Stockbridge district of the city centre, within Edinburgh's world heritage zone. Stockbridge is an affluent area, best described as a friendly village within the City.

Attractions such as the Royal botanical gardens, water of Leith, internationally renowned art galleries and even a historic fully refurbished Victorian bath house are all within easy walking distance.

Saxe-Coburg Street is situated off one of Edinburgh's finest Georgian squares and within a 15 minute walk of the citys prime shopping street. The apartment is perfectly situated in a quiet area, and the architecture dates to the early 1800s. This is an ideal base from which to see Edinburgh and surrounds.

comfortable stay in excellent location

  • 4 of 5

stayed one week with my grandpa. Excellent location. Apartment is cozy, clean and modern. Kitchen is well equipped. Tea/coffee/sugar/oil/ salt pepper are already there. Central heating provides extra comfort on cold days.

Not much storage space, though. Apartment is comfortable for 2 adults. Might not be suitable for a young family as you would not know where to

put your belongings. Double bedroom only has a rail on the wall where you can hang 5 pieces - no space to put

clothes. Twin room has a small cupboard where you can put clothes but then again, not if you actually came

to stay with 4 people.

I highly recommend this property if you stay as a couple or if you stay with a friend but want a bit more privacy.

We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed our time in Edinburgh.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. To make things clear for future guests I'd like to point out that the apartment is well equipped to cater for groups of 4 staying and in fact the vast majority of visitors are groups of 4. As you mentioned there is a hanging rail in the double bedroom and also further hanging space in the hall cupboard, where also suitcases can be stored. In the twin room there is a wardrobe, with hanging space and 4 drawers as well as shelving for further storage.

Delightful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 girls on vacation after a 9day hike, so we absolutely enjoyed this charming apartment! Very comfortable beds and furniture. Apartment was very clean and cozy. The clothes washer and drying rack came in handy. Kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed. In a very nice location, and close to city center. On a rainy day, we purchased the day-long city bus pass for 4 pounds each, and went to beaches, ocean terminal to see Royal Yacht Britannia, out to Cramond beach. We loved coming back to this homey apartment each evening! After reading the last review, I was a little nervous about contact with Gary, but he met us at the apartment as agreed, and was very professional. He took his time showing us everything about the apartment and the pleasant back yard with clothesline, and offered ideas on what to see and places to go. He was a great host! Thank you Gary!

Charming Smaller Place With Everything - Only Downside Found Communication with Manager Stressful

  • 3 of 5

This apartment is on the bottom level, is quite small but is comfortable and nice to stay in. The place has everything you need whether in the kitchen, bedroom or bathroom etc. I found the bed very comfortable and the apartment was very clean. We did not see a dryer but we found a drying rack for laundry.

THE ONLY DOWNSIDE, and it was a big one for us was that we found the communication via email or phone with the manager/owner poor and actually quite stressful. We emailed a week as well as a few days prior to our arrival to confirm our stay and our arrival details and we heard nothing. We also were travelling with a baby so we needed to ensure a time of arrival and our place to stay. Finally a day or two before we were due to arrive in Edinburgh I tracked Gary down by phone and reached him. We confirmed my arrival for 3 pm. On the day of arrival we were there at 3pm and did not see anyone. It was raining too which does not make waiting outside with luggage fun. By 3:20 ish we were starting to get worried and a little tired. I called Gary at 3pm and at about 3:15ish and no answer on his cell. I was NOT IMPRESSED. I felt like I had to chase him down the entire time, and it was stressful especially prior to our arrival. If I hadn't called him the day before would he even have replied to my email to confirm our arrival? I felt a reply on email or by phone, text would have been appropriate given he had lots of notice. With this said, he seemed nice once we let us in.

Gemütliche Wohnung in idealer Lage

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay!

Wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place. Nice and quiet but close enough for easy access to everything Edinburgh has to offer. The apartment was very clean and well appointed. Everything you need is there. You are about 1.5 blocks from grocery stores, tea rooms, shopping and restaurants. The #36 and #42 bus stops are also close and will take you anywhere in town. The apartment is also close 3 blocks from the Botanical gardens. I highly recommend this to anyone - young or old.

Cosy, well-maintained, clean and lovely decorated apartment located in one of the nicest neighbourhood in the city. There is everything you need to enjoy your stay.

Gary is gentle and trustable host, who attended all our needs.

We had already recommended it to our best friends and would not hesitate to come back again.
