This tastefully redone Sloan's Lake Ranch is an oasis in the city! Centrally located and close to everything Denver has to offer. Half a block away from Sloan's lake park where there are beatiful views of the mountains and the city. Sloan's lake has a walking/ running path that is anwhere from 3-5 miles around the park. Volleyball, tennis courts, and BBQ's are availible.
This property is very open and airy. Over $140,000 was spent in interior renovations since the owner bought it 10 years ago. All the rooms are filled with light and have an open air concept. The house is 1,800 square feet. Sleeps 8 with additional pull out couches. The main room is close to 700 square feet and has 12' ceilings. This room has the kitchen/ bar area, dinning room and living room all in one. The kitchen has all state of the art stainless steel appliances. A Jensen gas cooktop can handle all of your cooking needs in a fraction of the time. This main room has a 52' flatscreen with Sony Blueray player so you can watch Netflix, Cable, DVD's Blueray's, and listen to Pandora or any of your music and videos. The master has valted ceilings and is also close to 700 square feet including full bath. Bath is a jet tub. There is also a large sized office that has 11' window looking out over the courtyard and water feature. This room can be used as an additional bedroom.
Over $100,000 was invested in the front yard landscaping alone. Several full size trees give this 1/4 acre property a sense of seclusion even though you are in the middle of the city. The front of the house faces west so you can watch the sunset every night from the front porch. Sloan's Lake is a hidden gem in the city. Breathtaking views of the mountains in one direction and the city in the other. There are several neat neighborhood areas in close proximity. Downtown Denver is a 7 minute drive or a $7 cab ride. Mile High Stadium (Sports Authority Field) is 7 minutes away by car or you can walk within half an hour. Edgewater shops and resturants are a 3 minute drive or a 1 mile walk. The uber hip Highlands neighborhood is a 7 minute drive or a liesurely 15 minute bike ride away. Another hipster hot spot is LoHi which is only 9 minutes away.

As of April 26th there is a new light rail line that stops 3 blocks away and connects you with the rest of metro Denver. Bikes can even be brought on this train.

Me and my Wife are a fun loving couple that like to embrace all the fun things that Colorado has to offer. We both have a sharp sense of style. I have owned a landscape design/ build firm for 10 years and have done an extensive amount of work at the house. We also own an indoor/ outdoor retail shop in the heart of the art district on Santa Fe. In addition I do sculptural welding and there are a few pieces worked in throughout the landscape. After looking at over 60 homes I found this property and loved it due to its close proximity to everything and its 1/4 acre yard. Sloan's Lake Park is amazing with views in both directions. Many Denverites don't even know where it is!
I am an artist. I bought this house for its location, the property size, its bones, and it 7 large mature trees. After 10 years and $250,000 we made it the way we wanted. Now with our growing family and business' we have moved to our next project.
The house is conveniently located to central Denver and has a lovely private front yard with a fountain that hides city sounds. We found plenty to do to entertain the teens and adults in our group. Plenty of great places to eat in the area and a short drive to downtown restaurants and sites. We enjoyed walking around the Sloan lake park.
We enjoyed our stay at this nicely designed property on the west side of Denver. Large master bedroom with adjacent bathroom and shower. Kitchen equipped with essentials for light cooking or full meals and there was a supermarket close by for supplies. We always get our breakfast needs and head out for touring most of the day with an occasional dinner prep or takeout. Table and chairs outside for al fresco dining as weather permits. Well maintained and fenced front yard with off street parking in driveway. Sloan Lake is a block away with bike paths and jogging available. Recent addition of a light rail line (W) in the area with lots of enclosed parking means you can leave your car and go to Coors Field and other downtown attractions that are all within walking distance.
Easy access to freeways for excursions to destinations outside metro Denver. Only minor note would be an upgrade on the bedside lamp(s) in the master suite...nighttime reading was a challenge. Overall positive experience and would heartily recommend.
Will Hyde's House is one of the best houses that I have ever rented from Home Away (and I've rented quite a few!). First; the location....it is just a short drive to the
heart of Denver or about a 40 minute drive to the mountains or Colorado Springs. Sloan Lake is a short walk to the end of the block; here you can walk/jog around the lake or picnic in the shade...a very nice park to visit!
Second is the house itself; both inside AND outside are amazing! The ranch style home has two bedrooms: the Master Suite is HUGE with a king size bed; skylights; shower stall and jacuzzi tub....a total relaxation "get-away"! The second bedroom has a queen bed and is also nicely decorated. There is also an office with a computer desk which boasts a wall of closets; this room can easily be converted to a third bedroom. The kitchen, dining area and living room are an open concept; there is a two-sided gas fireplace that separates the dining area from the living room...it added both warmth and charm.
The outdoor landscaping is a "work of art"...your very own oasis! Mr. Hyde has created a beautiful landscape of trees; plants; murals and water display which are accentuated at night by low-voltage lighting. There is a patio set with overhead strung lights and a gas barbecue. This front yard is completely enclosed with fencing to insure complete privacy; to me, it was "heaven on earth"!
Mr. Hyde was also very gracious to allow us to stay a few extra hours on our departure date since our flight wasn't until midnight (also, there weren't renters coming in the following day). Will was a gracious host and was available whenever needed.
I highly recommend this property to anyone coming to the Denver area; it's a gem!
the sloan lake ranch is less than 1 block from sloan lake...great place for a hike/picnic or just being outside as is the front yard....very private..nicely landscaped ... great place for morning coffee on the front porch....the place is great for 2 couples with the each bedroom bath combo very private for each couple....nice kitchen...nice appliances....no complaints....grocery store that's open 5 am - 12 midnite just a few blocks away....close to everything...would highly recommend....
We enjoyed our long weekend at this property in Denver. The owners have landscaped the huge front yard beautifully and furnished the house with comfortable furniture, including two pull-out sofas. The owners provided plenty of blankets, pillows, and towels. We enjoyed the gas fireplace in the evenings and took long walks (approx. 5 km trail) around Lake Sloan each morning.
The property is located on a quiet street, close to light rail, bus, and easy access to highway. Parking is available on the street, in the driveway (gated), or in the garage. We appreciated the diversity of activities in Denver and visited the Aquarium, several art galleries, and museums. We recommend strolling through the Santa Fe Art District (just a short drive from this property and $5 public parking lot available) as well as exploring the restaurants on Tennyson Street (we took Uber for $5 each way).
For a great home, with a super kitchen for cooking meals together and beautiful front gardens, we recommend this property. We look forward to seeing how the owners will renovate the small backyard and expect it to be just as gorgeous as the front yard when they are done!
We had a great stay at the house. Everything was good. Great location and well appointed with everything needed. Will surely stay again when in the area. Would certainly recommend this property. Hope to see the lovely landscaping in the summer months when we could enjoy sitting outside.
This property is close to everything you would want to do in Denver. Only 10 minutes from downtown Denver. Close by to many neighborhood shopping and dinning areas. Close to all major stadiums and arenas. 1-2 Hours to ski resorts. Close to hiking, biking and all the mountains have to offer.
