About the property

One double room, in a house shared with the owner.

This house is one of the stylish Georgian terraced houses completed by Walter Newall ( a famous Scottish Architect) in around 1824. It is part of the older Georgian area of Dumfries. A tall building over 4 floors, you will have access to the kitchen, living room and bathroom in addition to your own private bedrooms. The kitchen living room and bathroom are all shared with the owner of the house. The rooms to let are at the top of the house, and there are 3 flights of stairs to access them. The owner also lives with her two dogs, Sasha and Betsy.

This is not a smart modern house, you will have the feeling you have gone back in time when you come in my front door. It gives you an authentic Scottish experience without the inconveniences! The .5 bathroom is the gardening loo at the back door of the house. You will be offered a light breakfast of Croissants or Yoghurt and fruit with a choice of drinks, tea coffee, or tisanes. I can also provide two-course evening meals for £5.00 per person if these are booked in advance.

These rooms are primarily for holidays and leisure visits only, but if you are a contractor, looking for weekday only rental, I am happy to try and accommodate your needs. I advise you to make an initial enquiry, and I will do my best to get back to you within the hour.

Laundry facilities are also available; washing, drying and ironing for an extra fee, please just ask.

If you are at all nervous about dogs, or not good with stairs, I do advise that this might not be the house for you!

  • I would not advise this house for toddlers and children who are not biddable. The stairs up to the rooms are too high.

Stayed a week and it was really Home!

We travelled from Luleå/Sweden to Dumfries and we loved it!

Perfect stay for us, two adults and a teenager.

This is a house with a shared bathroom, and extra toilet. There is a kitchen where you can prepare meals if you want to. I also offer a breakfast service for £2.50 per person. Continental, with brioche, croissants, ham and cheese, tea and coffee. If you are working during your stay, I offer an evening meal service, for £5.00 per night, to be booked and paid for at the beginning of your stay. I offer a large and varied menu, but cook only one meal each night. If you would like to take this up, ask me for the dinner leaflet.
The parking is also easy in the evening and early morning, there is no need to rush out to avoid a traffic warden, although as we are in the centre of town it can be busy during the middle of the day.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
