Aqua 8 is a lovely 2 bedroom, duplex apartment. It is ideal for families or couples with good flexibility as it has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plus with a sofa bed in the lounge means it can comfortably sleep up to 5 people (+1 baby).

The layout is over 2 floors which offers more privacy than a ground floor apartment. The master bedroom is upstairs with a small, private terrace and en-suite bathroom. The twin bedroom and 2nd bathroom are on the lower level. This makes it great for families or 2 couples sharing the apartment as the sleeping arrangements are on 2 floors (with use of a bathroom on each floor).

The open plan kitchen/ living room/ dining area opens out onto a lovely balcony with a table and chairs. The apartment is located next to the 2nd pool about half way down the complex which means you are slightly away from the main reception/ entrance, busy front swimming pool, bar and restaurant area. About Nicola Rides

I run a small holiday lettings business called Maison-Sol Holiday Rentals and currently rent out a total of 14 properties in Spain and Turkey. I have worked in the travel industry in sales and marketing for a package holiday company before setting up my own business. I have been renting out holiday properties now for 10 years. I also own my own holiday home on the Bodrum Peninsula, in Turkey.

I have visited The Sunset Beach Club several times and manage a total of 7 apartments on this well established complex. I have also worked for a summer holiday season as a holiday representative in this area. Please feel free to ask any questions about the complex and surrounding area.

Why Nicola Rides chose Lycian & Turquoise Coast

Both Aqua 8 and Neptune 8 are owned by the same Dutch owner. These are lovely apartments located on this very popular, beachfront complex.

Staying here means you have great amenities such as the beach and pools. There is plenty to do in the area so you can be as busy or laid back as you want to me.

Sunset Beach is a very socialable place to stay and it is easy to meet new friends here.

What makes this apartment unique

These apartments enjoy use of all the fantastic communal facilities on offer at The Sunset Beach Club. Enjoy the bar and restaurant, the numerous swimming pools, the convenient of the on-site shop or pamper yourself with a treatment.

The Sunset Beach Club is only a few steps to the local beach which has free sun loungers. Plus its flat location means it is easy to walk into Calis centre along the lovely promenade.

You can enjoy lazy sunbathing days by the pool and on the beach, or be as active as you want to be with all the activities and days out on offer in this stunning part of Turkey.

A Fabulous Apartment in Calis Beach

  • 5 of 5

After considering a few different apartments at Sunset Beach, we finally decided on Aqua 8 due to its two bedrooms and layout. Nicola made the booking process very easy and we included taxi transfers, a welcome pack and beach towel hire (a fantastic idea to cut down on luggage).

The apartment and fittings are a very high quality and lived up to the descriptions by other travelers as well as the photographs on the website. In fact, we found Aqua 8 larger than expected and ideal for a family of four. It really does have everything you need for a self catering holiday with the added bonus of a washing machine and dishwasher. Another great idea was the filtered water machine with refills available from the onsite shop at 10TL. It is even delivered to your apartment and replaced for you!

Nadine, the local representative in Turkey, came the morning after our arrival and is a great source of help and information. We booked the 12 Island Boat Tour through her, using jerryboat.com.

The communal areas of the Sunset beach Club are very well maintained; gardeners and pool cleaners are onsite everyday to keep the areas spotless. The swimming pools are never really busy as everyone is spread out across the complex. It was fantastic having dedicated sunbeds as well, although it's a good idea to stack them and lock them when not in use.

We ate out in the evenings and headed for the promenade along Calis Beach. Because of the heat, we took the Dolmus (bus) most evenings and got off by the canal bridge (2.5TL each way). Otherwise it's probably a 15 minute walk. The restaurant staff and shop owners were pleased to see us and made us feel very welcome.

This was our first trip to Turkey and it didn't disappoint! The scenery is spectacular and there is so much to do. As well as the boat trip, my family went quad biking and parasailing. We also caught the bus to Oludeniz. We will definitely return to this part of Turkey and have no hesitation staying at Sunset Beach again.

Simply superb and no complaints on any area

  • 5 of 5

This is one review I am most pleased to make. Our stay at Aqua 8 at Sunset beach Chalis was a trip to remember and to be honest we could not fault the apartment or resort in any area. But first I would like to make mention of Nicola Rides, the UK Agent for bookings. Her attention to detail throughout the booking process and upon our return was excellent and Nadine and Husband onsite were very attentive and great people. You should turn on them for local knowledge! What can I say but a big thank you all we will be booking again soon.

A few local tips – Apart from Sunset beach resort dining which is excellent, there are many restaurants within a few mins walk of the resort all of which are great value but I would like to highlight 2 restaurants where you are guaranteed a superb night Obens Restaurant and The Sunset Restaurant a few hundred metres further along the beach front – you will know you have the right restaurant as one of the waiters is a dead ringer of Burt Reynolds!

Getting around by car – take a good map as there seem to be few road names and road numbers but we managed very well and in one weeks driving around the area only made one mistake. A car is really useful for the local sights and in general parking very easy, don’t waste time or money a Satnav as we did because they really don’t seem to work. Streets are numbered from low (at southern end of Fethiye to high numbers at Chalis Beach and once you get a hang of this and the main roads through and around the towns its very easy to navigate. Take a drive out to Cameli an amazing mountain road and scenery plus some good local restaurants.

One of the best tips we can give is take along some scented babies nappy bags with individual ties – most stores do them and you can get a pack of 100 odd for a few pounds before you travel. In mind of the Toilet Paper flush rule in Turkey we found these invaluable. All Loos are fitted with bidet type cleanser so don’t panic.

Last but not lease you must take the 12 Islands Sailing boat trip, you will get picked up and dropped off right at the Sunset Beach Resort and its simply a great trip with good food and crew, time for swimming and exploring stops en route. We found a really helpful Excursions company situated a few steps away from Obens Restaurant (sorry have lost their name) but theres only one so you can’t miss them. They will look after you well and you can pay in local currency or Pounds Sterling.

Up to expectations

  • 5 of 5

Our well deserved one week break in Turkey more than came up to our expectations. Immediately on arrivival the Complex and the apartment met our expectations . We where not only well looked after by the Nicolia and the team but also the Locals and all the restaurants we went to where so friendly. The food was so fresh and served with a smile. The low cost of the meals was a bonus too. On our finale day we went for a drive into the Mountain region. We found this wonderfull Resturant at the end of the road in , Cameli and were treated like Sultans. Even a simply cup of Coffee was serve as if we where Sultans! on a special tray with ornamental cups with the addition of Turkinsh delight presented in a dainty Silver dish, wonderful!! We shall return soon. Christine

Sunset Beach Sept 2015

  • 4 of 5

On arrival the apartment was spotless and lived up to description on website. The only slight issue was the mattresses were very very firm for our liking. Good location close to beach, shops and restaurants. Dolmus stop right outside complex, great value only 2TL into Fethiye or any other stop. Great to have Nadine close by who popped in day after arrival to check everything was satisfactory and left her contact details in case of any emergencies which was reassuring. Nicola who takes care of the bookings is fantastic, very efficient and keeps you well informed up until your departure date. Transfers were spot on, as was the rest of the booking, would certainly use Nicola again. Would recommend Sunset Beach Club, on site shop was handy. Liked water cooler in apartment very handy in hot weather. Obens restaurant is a must, family run, excellent food , great value for money and very relaxed atmosphere. Fish market in Fethiye were you buy your own fish from fishmongers then handover to restaurant to cook is highly recommended. Sunday market in Calis and Tuesday in Fethyie are worth a visit, lots of fresh local produce and whilst there try one of the many cafes for breakfast the pancakes are delicious.

Ideal home from home

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Sunset Beach Club, and , I don't mind admitting, we were a bit apprehensive. Last year we had no experience of the place and was completely bowled over. What if this year it didn't live up to expectation? We shouldn't have worried. right from the start we were in relaxed holiday mode, right down to being welcomed home by the representative.

The apartment was fantastic. Split over two floors, lounge, one bathroom and one twin bedroom downstairs. Upstairs, big landing, double bedroom with an en suite. The aspect was facing the rising sun, which did make for bright sunlit mornings. The downstairs bedroom was to the rear and so didn't get the morning sun.

As last year, we really enjoyed looking out over a pool, which meant our children could go off swimming and be supervised from above. Each apartment has an allocation of sunbeds and mattresses, so, no need to 'reserve' which was relaxing too. Our loungers were locked up by the pool, in all honesty, that was probably unnecessary.

Overall the property was very well maintained and as described. The bonus for us this year was the water cooler. We had already enjoyed the 19 litre water bottles for 10TL (£2.50), but this year they were on a cooled dispenser. It was very convenient to have a dishwasher and washing machine and the air con was wonderful. For the odd night in there were plenty of pans and utensils to cook with and the shop on site sold basic groceries or there was a bigger grocery store locally. The huge fridge/freezer provided plenty of space to store food etc.

The complex itself is never noisy, even when busy. There are plenty of pools and because the pools are directly outside the apartments, it soon becomes a little community. The snack Bar, Ozgurs, has improved no end. Last year it was mediocre food and service. This year it was so improved I think that we ate there more times than any other place.

Outside of the complex the beach is directly across the road. It's not sandy, but there are sand patches outside lots of the beach bars. There are plenty of beach bars, in either direction.

Calis promenade is either a long(ish) hot walk, or a short 2TL dolmus ride. the dolmus was great, standard price, hop on hop off.

Overall, we were once again impressed with apartment, the complex and the area and will certainly return for a third year. Finally, on site Nadine did a fantastic job on looking after us. She was always available for advice and help

This is a beautiful part of Turkey with dramatic mountain scenery, breath-taking sea views, sparkling clear waters and stunning sunsets. You will be spoilt for choice for things to do in this area. You can combine a relaxing beach holiday with energetic sporting activities from water sports to paragliding, explore ancient ruins and rock tombs or take one of many excursions on offer in this fantastic destination such as a boat trip or a jeep safari.

Experience the Turkish culture in the bazaar and local market, enjoy the local hospitality and delicious cuisine. Turkish people are extremely friendly and welcoming, plus the cost of living is still cheaper than the UK and other EU countries (as Turkey is not in the euro zone and still has its own currency, the Turkish Lira) .. which makes your holiday spending money go further!

The climate is great (with approximately 300 sunshine days per year) and temperatures are 30c+ degrees throughout the summer months. May, June and September are lovely months for families with younger children or for people wanting to walk or take part in sporting activities when it is not just as hot ...with temperatures usually between the mid-high 20c degrees.

Calis is located 2.5 miles north of Fethiye and is a laid-back resort with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. It is not a full-on party place with wall-to-wall nightclubs so if you are looking for wild nightlife, then this is not the place for you. However if you enjoy relaxing days with plenty of nice bars and restaurants to choose from, with easy access to Fethiye and the surrounding area.. then this is a great place to stay.

With an amazing 4 km stretch of coastline, you can always find your own peaceful spot on Calis beach. There are plenty of watersports and activities on offer at the nearby Fethiye Surf Club. The beach promenade is a lovely place to stroll along and is lined with shops, travel agencies (offering many excursions), cafes, bars and restaurants offering both Turkish and International cuisine. The local market takes place on Sunday so you can see the locals selling their wares. There is even the Sultans City waterpark in Calis or Olu Deniz Waterworld at Ovacik which are both great fun for all the family.

From Calis, you can take the dolmus (local bus) or the leisurely water taxi to Fethiye (don't forget your camera as the views from the water taxis are stunning). Fethiye is a lively working Turkish town so is a great place to see the locals going about their every day lives and offers many restaurants and good shopping around the Old Town bazaar and the impressive marina. The huge market takes place on Tuesday with more than 500 stalls ... definitely the place to barter for all your holiday bargains and a great place to buy fresh produce such as locally grown fruit and vegetables.

At the northern end of Fethiye bay is the harbour of Gocek. The village has grown around the extensive yacht marina and is a great place to visit and watch the rich at play! Just to the south of Fethiye is the popular resort of Olu Deniz with its stunning lagoon and beach... probably one of the worlds most photographed beauty spots. Adrenaline junkies can paraglide from the top of Mount Babadag down onto the beach at Olu Deniz to enjoy the breath-taking scenery. Why not stop off en-route in the hills at Hisaronu or Ovacik for a bite to eat as it is generally cooler up here on hot days.

Other interesting places/ things to do in the area to visit include:

- Climbing up to the Lycian Rock Tombs in Fethiye

- Exploring the ancient ghost village of Kayakoy

- A boat trip around the 12 Islands or to Butterfly Valley

- A jeep safari to Patara Beach

- A day return on the fast ferry from Fethiye - Rhodes, Greece so you can experience 2 countries in 1 holiday!

More excursions which can be organised from Calis include visiting the:

- Mud baths at Dalyan and the ruins of Caunos

- Beautiful gorge of Saklikent and the ruins of Tlos

- Magnificent ancient city and wonders of Ephesus

- The amazing white calcium terraces and mineral waters at Pamukkale

Activities include scuba diving, trekking, kayaking, quad biking, horse riding, bicycle hire .. the list goes on and on so you will never run out of things to do in this area!!

Please feel free to ask any question about the local area and things to do whilst on holiday.
