About Katherine Shegrud
We have always been St Thomas enthusiasts! So much that after buying 3 weeks as Frenchman's Cove, we decided to move to the island and now call it home!
Katherine Shegrud purchased this Condo in 2007

Such great people to work with – we cannot say enough good things about every aspect of this vacation. Wonderful!!
And you were wonderful guests!
Great location and easy to book
One of the best Marriott's around. Great staff, large rooms and fantastic beach with snoring
Thank Rigo! I'm so glad you enjoyed your vacation. This Marriott does have great amenities, including snorkeling!
My family and I stayed at this property recently. OH my word! This resort is in the perfect location! The atmosphere is great as it manages to be family friendly, having plenty of activities for the children to keep occupied. When they get tired of "activities" the pool is next! The condo is very spacious, it was five of us and we had room to spare.
It was absolutely magnificent to watch the cruises coming and going from the pool and from the room. oh, and to watch the sunset from the pool is a must! I am in love with this place! Katherine was such a delight to work with and to meet! She gave us so many pointers that otherwise we would of missed, she was so awesome and easy going, and most of all caring. I would recommend her 1000%!
We rented a jeep, drove to Red Hook, caught ferry to St. John and had dinner there while carnival was going on, very upbeat and exciting.
We also drove to Magen's Bay, a Katherine suggestion, OMG!!am glad I listen to her. The beach is amazing!
This resort is localized perfectly! Would go back in a heart beat!
Sea, Sun, Sand, Relax
My family and I stayed at the property in Late November/Early Dec 2014. We were very happy with the accommodations, the resort is attractive and the staff very friendly. The view from the balcony is lovely. We especially enjoyed eating on the balcony and watching the cruise ships come into the bay. We rented a Jeep and were able to explore the island and had the opportunity to venture over to St John’s. Katherine and Steve were very nice to work with, it was great to have the opportunity to meet up with them during our stay. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Frenchman’s Cove and loved St. Thomas. Great experience and would definitely return.
You will not be disappointed with this property. Katherine was wonderful to work. The villa has all the comforts of home; fully stocked for cooking, comfortable beds, plenty of towels and a washer & dryer. The views from the balcony are beautiful and provide an up close view of the massive cruise ships coming in. I seen the most amazing sunsets from the beach. There are 3 Marriott properties here and you can easily walk between the different properties or take the shuttle (MorningStar Beach & the hotel). No need to carry money because all the properties allow charging to your room. The resort has daily activities and give aways. Don't miss the Monday activites featuring BBQ, music and a fire show. Some of the best snorkeling I have experienced is right off the beach. We went to Kmart just down the road and bought snorkel equipment, coolers and drinks. Nice that the resort allows your own coolers and drinks, plus this allowed us to try the other beaches on the island. We went to St. John on the 4th of July for the parade and Carnivale. Easy transportation via the Red Hook Ferry. While at St John we walked to Honeymoon Beach which was paradise! Crystal blue water, thick powdery white sand and there are bathroom facilities and drinks available for purchase. If you are looking for a fishing charter book Double Header. Captain Chris knows how to catch fish.
We just returned from a week at the Frenchman's Cove in Saint Thomas and it was outstanding!
This was our first time renting on VRBO and we were nervous about it. We contacted the owners, Katherine and Steve, and they were wonderful. They are terrific communicators and helped us plan our vacation by giving us great suggestions for things to do on the trip with our four kids. They really put us at ease. They returned emails quickly and were very nice on the phone when we had questions.
We met up with them one evening in Saint Thomas and are glad we did. Steve and Katherine are just great folk and so fun to hang out with. I would not hesitate to rent through them!
The Cove is wonderful. There is so much to do at the resort-- there is access to 5 pools and two beaches (we had access to the adjacent Marriott properties, too), the Cove's party planners have fun events for the kids (movie night at the pool was a favorite), and it is so convenient (a quick water taxi) to downtown Charlotte Amalie. The property is beautiful with an amazing view of Charlotte Amalie across the bay and the cruise ships as they come in and out of town. We swam and snorkeled on property. The restaurants were very family friendly, with two for one happy hours for the adults each night.
The villas are very convenient, clean, and well maintained. We had no problem sleeping the six of us. There is a washer and dryer, so we were able to pack light and wash our clothes. We had two balconies with amazing views. The Cove's staff was so friendly and helpful.
If we could give 100 stars, we would. The property is wonderful, Saint Thomas is wonderful, and Katherine and Steve are so helpful and nice.
Please note: We have a 2bedroom/2 bath available for November 21 to November 28 for $2,850
