About Anne W. Brandon

Growing up in Demopolis, AL, my family enjoyed an annual family trip to the beach. We owned and rented a condo on the Alabama coast until we found the amazing area around Hwy 30-A. Here, my children learned to ride their bikes, build sand castles,learned to swim and enjoy the summer concerts at nearby Seaside. They learned to YOLO at Watercolor. We enjoyed having friends come down to help make memories of quality time with family and friends. We now live in Tuscaloosa (I am a proud alumni of the College of Nursing, 1989). One daughter is enrolled premed at the University of AL, another at Spring Hill College , in Mobile, poly-science and a son who wants to go to South AL (Mobile).

A three story, 3 BR, 2.5 bath vacation home, professionally decorated and nestled between the Point Washington National Forest and the popular restaurants, shops, antique and art galleries of Hwy 30-A. Red Fish Village is across the street. We are just west of Watercolor and Seaside, but at a fraction of the price! We love our pets and will consider animals, for an additional cleaning fee.

What makes this house unique

The Master Suite is on the 2nd floor, with a king bed, flat screen TV. There is a music center and private balcony over looking the mature palms, along the house. A separate shower, garden jetted-tub, double vanity and walk-in closet is there. A hand carved antique walnut French double headboard (circa 1890)is in the second bedroom & another balcony over looking the mature palms. Sooo relaxing! The bunk room sleeps 4 with a single/double/trundle room & cozy bean bags to view the TV/DVD player to keep the children happy and entertained in their special haven. Included for your enjoyment with razor scooters and a rip stick.

  • There is a sleeper sofa on first level whith all linens provided. Upgraded mattress and Temporpedic pillows. Large flat screen TV and half bath with vessel sink. Travertine tiles first level. My house sleeps 10 maximum. Maximum means capacity! No exceptions. If you have 11 or > my house will not accommodate your party. PLEASE, I do not allow exceptions as this is based on sewer/septic policies and zoning requirements. Parties exceeding 10 persons will be evicted immediately and a $1500 penalty assessed.

Notes:
One of the nicest features of Blue Mountain living is the lack of the bumper to bumper traffic and 2-3 hour restaurant waiting times, for dinner.While only 10 minutes away from Watercolor and Seaside, we are a world away in enjoyment, relaxation, and value. Please compare our rates to Seaside,Watercolor and Alys Beach, and I know you will agree. Thank you for checking out Villa ABBA.

Amazing and comfortable luxury beach home! Exceeded our expectations in so many ways!

We saw the pictures and expected that Villa Abba would be nice but we were blown away with all the features we enjoyed in Anne's home. The bunk room is so comfy and cute. Having lots of toys for the children was terrific.

The Master was incredible with a very comfortable bed, separate hot water shower, garden tub to soak in and private balcony made us not want to leave.

The upstairs bedroom also was beautifully appointed with an antique french bed that was also quite comfortable and this balcony was a perfect place to relax.

The kitchen had everything for cooking and lots of ice was always available to load the blender for frozen daiquiris. Anne was quick to respond and communicate with us. We can't wait to come back to Villa Abba where we all sleep in every day

Great Place, and Great Location!

My family had a wonderful time at this property! The house is perfect for a family get together and perfect location to avoid the long lines and crowded beaches of Destin! This beach is truly amazing and the home is perfect with all you could possibly need for a vacation get away!

Not As Impressed As I'd Hoped to Be

I want to start this review by saying that Anne was a pleasure to work with regarding arranging our stay, but the house left a bit to be desired. When we first arrived a few minutes before 4 the cleaning lady was still in the house. We waited about 15-20 minutes for her to come out and she explained that there were some unexpected discoveries in the bunk room that took longer to clean. Not exactly a big deal, but after a day of traveling it would have been nice to get into the place on time. Once we got inside we found that the place wasn't as clean or well taken care of as we'd hoped. The couch had several spots on it, the pots and pans were scratched so bad (with the non-stick coating coming off) we didn't feel safe using them, and several utensils were dirty (cooked on eggs, etc). The floors were also sticky in the kitchen/dining area. Again, I'm not sure if the cleaning lady was just hurrying to get done or what the issue may have been. Another problem we faced was lack of replacement bulbs. The bunk room, as well as all lights in the second floor hall, and almost all lights in the master bedroom were out. We would have changed them had we found replacements. Not an issue for us, but if you're wanting to use bikes while you're there, you'll need to rent some. The bikes provided were beyond needing a chain oiled to be functional.

Now to the positives, the bathrooms and bedrooms were all very clean. The beds were super comfortable and the community pool/gym was a nice added bonus. Less than a half mile to public beach access, with a paved path the entire way. Definitely stop by Blue Mountain Beach Creamery and Goatfeathers for dinner.

If you've got a large group, I don't think you'd find this home has enough space. We had several rainy mornings that kept us inside for a bit and we were tripping all over each other.

Owner's Response: I am disappointed your expectations were not met. Only now, am I made aware that you were not happy with certain aspects of my home. Had you called me, as I state in the contract "if anything is amiss" I would have sent my housekeeper over immediately. She lives 5 minutes away and could have addressed all of your concerns. My housekeeper discovered "Gold Fish Crackers" were poured into the bunk room bed sheets, by the previous guest's children. She vacuumed and wiped down the crumbs from the mattresses and had to re-vacuum the carpets after removing the mattresses to clean underneath. No one can anticipate that event so it did take her a few minutes beyond the usual check in to clean the unexpected mess thoroughly on the single over a double over trundle beds. I understand she even brought donuts to you as a gift and provided her phone number, since she was not finished until a few minutes after 4 PM. She felt terrible and called me to say she didn't want you to find crumbs or bugs from the cracker mess. I appreciate her thoroughly cleaning the Gold Fish Crackers and crumbs so the children's bunk room was spotless again. Regarding light bulbs, I keep extra's on the top shelf of the pantry for any that might need to be replaced. If you had called, texted or emailed me, I would have gladly informed you. My listing is clear as to space "1600 square feet, that sleeps 10 in a Master, Double, Bunkroom -single over a double and trundle, and double sleeper sofa. I cannot locate a pot or pan that has any coating coming off. I did locate a cast iron corn bread skillet with a spot of rust, easily re-seasoned with olive oil. Perhaps that is the issue? If something came out of the dishwasher unclean, I can only apologize and ask you to run the item back through the dishwasher. I offer Razer Scooters, a Rip Stick (all aluminum). All bikes are exposed to salt and moisture year round and they do rust and the chains must be oiled frequently, particularily with rainy days. There are numerous bike rentals all along 30 A and Hwy 98. Had you given me the opportunity to address these issues, I do believe I could have corrected the issues you raise.

Wonderful Beach Getaway

We had a great experience at our stay here. The owner was so accommodating, and everything was in order. Loved the neighborhood- it was a quick drive or a do-able walk to the beach. Although we didn't get around to doing it, there was a place to rent bikes nearby and fantastic sidewalks. We absolutely love Blue Mountain Creamery- it is a must try! The beach access from the house is amazing and very uncrowded- even over spring break! There are also bathrooms at the beach access which was nice. Would definitely recommend this house to any looking for a relaxing beach getaway.

Love Villa Abba!

Staying at Villa Abba was wonderful! We had a group of couples staying together for a destination wedding, and it was spacious enough for everyone. Bathrooms and kitchen were modern and well done. The location was perfect, very central. The homeowner was extremely easy to work with and left great instructions so there was not a single problem during our stay. Check in and check out were simple which is great because those can often be the headaches of a vacation. Would recommend to anyone looking for a beach home away from home!

This is an awesome property!

This was a beautiful house. We enjoyed our vacation because we knew that at the end of the day, we had this house to go "home" to. The listing description was accurate and everything that was promised, was there. The property was very clean and well-maintained. The owner left perfect instructions on how to access the property and left very good suggestions on activities, places to eat, etc. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone. It is in a perfect location where the neighborhood is quiet but lots of places to visit nearby and the beach is within walking distance. The neighbors were all very friendly.
