Standard Room, Non Smoking 30 Square Meters (Japanese-Style, Private Bathroom)
Real Japanese Hospitality.
Lovely traditional inn located near train and bus station. Walkable to downtown and all major attractions, though bus nearby best for Hida Folk Village. Breakfast was wonderful and the staff are the most welcoming people you could imagine.
Everything from the reception we received when checking in, to the room accommodations, to the meals, to activity and restaurant suggestions was exceptional. We came to Takayama to experience the Spring Matsuri Festival, so the town was extremely busy. It was great to be able to be there for the festival, but I also would have liked to have experienced the ryokan during a slower time.
The ryokan is a short distance away from the Takayama station. Check in was smooth as the staff speak English. The traditional Japanese room is spacious with complimentary snacks daily.
Breakfast was simple and nice, served with Hida miso a local delicacy to be taken with the rice. Great hospitality and no complaints.
Good quality ryokan
We stayed in this ryokan for 1 night in January during the winter season. On hindsight would probably be better to have stayed for 2 nights as the hotel was pleasant to stay and Takayama had lots of things to do. The rooms were good sized (could fit 4) with an additional sofa area to sit and sip green tea whilst reading a book. The hosts were very welcoming. The ryokan also has an onsen which was very relaxing after walking around Takayama during winter. We enjoyed the spacious room, yukatas and onsen. The location was also excellent with about a 7-10min walk to the JR Takayama station. The local town centre was also not too far off. All in all an excellent place to stay.
Nice ryokan that caters mostly to tourists
Overall the staff was extremely accommodating and spoke enough English for us to figure things out. Hotel seems to cater mostly to tourists, so the experience here is probably a bit ryokan-lite (which was ideal for us anyway). Good food and fun experience overall.
The staff was waiting patiently for our arrival with a small, good English too!
Very authentic ryokan room. They not only provide yukata and has a wide selection for you to chose. Find it very thoughtful to have a small bag to put your stuff to go for onsen..
We chose the Japanese style breakfast. A very interesting experience..
Upon departure, we were given a small souvenir. Nothing big but it just make u remember there more.
Definitely worth a stay!!
