This condo has been completely redone from soup to nuts! You will enjoy views from the Living Room, Master Bedroom and screened lanai. There is a king bed in the master, two twins in the guest bedroom and a pull out couch in the living room. Two bathrooms, one with full tub and one with a five foot walk-in shower. The kitchen is fully equipped and has all stainless appliances. There are two flat screen televisions, high speed wifi, local phone calls and air conditioning. The pool is heated and there is a dock for a boat (under 27 feet) if you wish to bring one.
Looking for a second home, my husband and I traveled throughout Florida. We have many friends who have settled on the east coast including my parents. So, we spent a great deal of time looking over there. My husband's parents settled on the West Coast because they had friends and family here. We always sort of poo poo'd this side. Until, we came upon this little area just below Sarasota known as Siesta Key. We decided to look here and well, it is truly paradise for us! We have been here six years. We found nothing on the east coast (in our opinion) that even compares to this little slice of haven! As time went on, we decided to look for investment property and found the Moorings. It is a wonderful property. It is kept up nicely and has a terrific location on the Key. We hope you enjoy the area as much as we do!
Maureen purchased this condo in 2011
Views are what sold us. And, because it is bright, with cathedral ceilings, roomy with two bathrooms. And, we love to walk. It is quiet enough on the south end, and just a quick ride brings you where you want to be. We like that the condo is away from the heavy traffic area. You park and just walk or ride to all the key has to offer.
We fell in love with the views and when we purchased the condo it was in need of a facelift. We new it had a lot of potential to be a terrific spot. It just needed some tender love and care. So we gave it the attention it deserved. It is now comfortable, really functional and fun.
First of all the condo was exactly as the pictures show. It is located in the best spot, if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation. It had everything you need, well stocked kitchen, plenty of storage. The closet in the master bedroom is one that I would have liked to bring home with me. The bed was very comfortable, shower is very big, room for two for sure. Was also nice to have a washer and dryer there even though they are smaller. Also, the dryer vent was in a very different spot (on the back wall of dryer) but we found it. FYI, a breaker went off and the breaker box is located inside front door to the left behind the boat picture on the wall. Condo has 3 flights of steps, so if steps are a problem, you probably don't want to stay here.
It is away from most of tourist traffic, yet it is located near Turtle Beach (not as nice as Siesta Key), however we enjoyed it. Siesta Key beach is beautiful, sand is cool to the feet, however it is quite a walk from where you park to get to the beach. If you have trouble walking, it will be tiring before you get there. We also found Crescent Beach enjoyable. Also, we visited Longboat Key (about 40 min drive) which was beautiful and we had the beach pretty much to ourselves. The day we were there, turtles hatched and while in the water, a manatee swam very slowly past us, it was an incredible experience. They are gentle giants.
Ophelias restaurant is right across the street from condo, very, very good food, but on the expensive side. Also Turtle Restaurant was just a short drive up the street and we found the food and service to be very good also. Both restaurants are on the water. We enjoyed eating at the Lazy Lobster in Longboat Key and the clam chowder at Captain Gus's, delicious and more clams than I've have ever seen in a chowder before. It won the chowder cookoff in Newport, RI.
The pool was very nice to have except the black birds were a nuisance, taking dips in the pool and doing their "dirty work" on the sides of the pool. Someone put an owl (not real) on edge of pool, which worked for awhile but then they came back. Being from the PA dutch country of Lancaster, PA, my husband got tin pie plates and hung them on the fence and that kept the birds away. That is what the Amish do, to keep critters out of their beautiful gardens. P.S. only negative, next time I would request paying for cleaning of condo at the end of our trip rather than doing it myself. Loved Siesta Key!!!!
#1 Top Rated Beach in the Country...'Siesta Key!' This condo has a FABULOUS location, right on the water. Many mornings you will enjoy the manatee or dolphins or both, as they swim by while you are sitting in the living room, master bedroom or on the screened lanai. A 3 minute walk brings you to famous Turtle Beach (a little quieter than Siesta). Directly across from the condo, you will find five star dining at Ophelia's on the Bay. Turtles Restaurant and Pub is a hop skip and a jump from this terrific location. The condo is on the south end of the key where it is peaceful with less hustle and bustle that is known to Siesta Key. But, just a 1.5 mile walk, drive or bike brings you to the center of Siesta Key where you will find local fare on the menu of its many restaurants and 'oh' the shops. Or, take a quick jaunt over South Bridge to find many more restaurants and shopping, plus Polo Events and the city of Sarasota. There are many activities throughout the area that I refer to as paradise including several cultural events, museums and oceanfront dining.
The 'World's Finest Whitest Sand Beach' known as Siesta Key is a mere 1.5 miles away.' You can't get better than Siesta Key for a beach. It is just under two hours to Disney and one hour from Busch Gardens. It is five miles to Oscar Shearer State Park. Day trips to Naples (just under two hours), Tampa (one hour) and Orlando (1 hour and 45 minutes) are all easy drives. There are many weekend events right on Siesta Key including Art Festivals, side walk sales and farmer's markets and in the surrounding areas. Plus, you have the luxury of being seven miles from downtown Sarasota where you can take in a show at the Van Wezel or visit St. Armands Circle with its exclusive shops, exceptional eateries and side walk cafes.
IT IS A WORLD CLASS AREA... Come and Enjoy it all at the Moorings Condo!
