We look forward to helping your homer, Alaska vacation be your best vacation ever!
No smoking for the comfort of all our guests. Thank you.
Having lived in Alaska for over 30 years we had to move our family in 1997 due to medical problems. When we were able we wanted to move back but had reservations of trying to return to the past. So we moved to Homer, a new location for us and have loved it. The first time my son saw it, he arrived on our fishing boat and said it was the most beautiful place he had ever seen.
Sherrie purchased this chalet in 2005
Quiet, away from busyness of town, family friendly.
Sunshine all day long, 20 hours of daylight, soaking in the outdoor hottub or taking in the views from the deck all seem magical. The quiet lifts your spirit and fills you. It is the perfect place to relax.
This is the second year we have stayed at this lovely house in Homer. It truly feels like home. Lots of room to spread out for the 3 of us. The owners are easy to work & keep the house in great order. Sherrie & Marcus offered us the use of their smoker which we used to smoke salmon. Our 10 day stay was restful & we did some fishing, sightseeing which isn't too hard...all you have to do is look out the windows to see beautiful mountains, greenery, and a moose that we saw twice in the yard. There is one bedroom on each level, bath w/shower on ground floor, full bath on main floor but no shower, 1/2 bath on 3rd floor. We took turns in the shower. Washer & dryer on ground floor. Kitchen well stocked. Clean, clean. Homer is a laid back type of small town bolstered by tourists in the summer. There are 2 grocery stores, a McDonalds, Two Sisters Bakery (try the sticky buns, my oh my) and the Homer spit which houses the fishing fleet, the Salty Dog bar & various restaurants & shops. The house is located about a 20 minute drive outside of town but not to worry, the scenery is spectacular going back & forth. Hard to keep your eyes on the road. We hope to go back again next year.
We simply loved our stay in Homer at this property. It was clean, roomy and had plenty of sleeping space for everyone. The kitchen utensils were adequate for our cooking needs and all the beds were comfortable. It was like staying at a lovely B&B.
absolutely beautiful home wonderful hosts and wonderful Alaskan experience
Can't praise this home enough and we loved our stay in this out of town home. It's spacious, on 3 floors, full kitchen and so comfortable. Living areas on the middle floor. Trees have covered some of the view but spectacular scenery on the drive to the house. It's 15 miles out of town so we catered for ourselves which was easy in the fully stocked kitchen and with Homer having supermarkets groceries etc easily obtained. Lots to do in Homer so we stayed in town for the day then went home for the evenings. Would recommend this home to all wanting a home away from home with all facilities. Sherrie phoned to ensure all was well. We appreciated the extra space being 4 adults and thank you Sherrie for allowing us to share your beautiful home. Description of the home was very accurate
We were 2 couples and a single. Plenty of room for everyone's privacy. Enough dishes and chairs at the dining table for everyone. Really clean and relaxing hot tub. Beautiful views! We had a great time!
Homer is the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World. Salmon fishing is plentiful in the rivers or by charter in the bay. On the Homer Spit is the local Fishing Hole for those less inclined to open water.
Water taxis are available to schedule your trip across Kachemak Bay to hike to Grewingk Glacier or many other destinations including the sweet fishing village of Seldovia. Twice a day are trips to Halibut Cove where you can spend the day walking on the boardwalk, visiting the local shops with handmade crafts and dine at The Saltery Restaurant.
Two acclaimed museums spark the interest of all who visit. Islands and Oceans Visitor Center illuminates the natural habitat of the area while Pratt Museum features the history with an array of excellent exhibits.
The Homer Spit offers beach activities, bicycling or walking or jogging on 5 miles of paved bike trail with spectacular ocean and mountain views. Several volcanoes are visible and make a backdrop for fabulous Pacific sunsets. Bishop Beach is also located in Homer providing miles of beach for the avid beachcomber to wander along the bluffs of Kachemak Bay or enjoy a fire on the beach.
There are 3 Old Believer Russian Orthodox villages to visit within 8 miles of our property. Within 2 miles alpine meadows overflowing with wildflowers in season and stunning views of Kachemak Bay and Cook Inlet abound at the Eveline State Recreation Park. This is one of our personal favorite places!
