New Beachfront Modern Home on Secluded Beach w/hot tub + custom bthrms

Bedrooms 5
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 - 5 nights

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Malibu - Modern Malibu

When you walk into our house, the din of the traffic on Pacific Coast Highway is absorbed by the soundproof walls. All you are left with is a full view of the ocean, and with the tide coming up under the deck of the main floor, it feels that you are miles out to sea. After taking your shoes off and feeling the soft teak floor on your feet, you might actually start to think you are on the deck of a ship, but as you move through the 11ft glass doors in the living room, the beach appears below you, a reminder that you are safely planted on land.

The house has many amenities you wouldn't find at sea, including 4 full bathrooms, 2 of which have rainhead showers and massaging rocks underfoot. The master bath boasts an ergonomically-shaped bathtub to soak all your cares way. The bathrooms are in short reach of 5 bedrooms that can sleep up to 13 people. The design uses space wisely as each room renders privacy, but doesn't feel cramped.

With private access to the beach you can paddle out to catch a few waves on the private surf break in front of the house, take a kayak for a spin, or just walk along the sand. If you're looking for a more urban adventure, you are only 7 miles from Santa Monica or 1 mile from the Getty Villa, making shopping or sightseeing a short trip. When you're tired and hungry you can head to the hot tub for a quick soak before making dinner in the fully outfitted kitchen. Taking advantage of the kitchen's 2 sinks, 2 ovens, full refrigerator, and beverage fridge, you could feed an entire army if needed. After dinner you can watch the stars while listening to the waves from the top deck, which features a massive patio area with seating and a copper fire pit, and an elevated view of Malibu.

About Haley

I grew up in La Canada, north of downtown Los Angeles, and my family has been in the building business for four generations. I always dreamed of having a place at the beach and I found this property in 2003. I built this house from the ground up, well, actually from way under the ground, up. I really grew to love the unique culture and setting of Malibu. I love bringing my growing family here also.

Haley purchased this house in 2003

Why Haley chose Malibu

We love this spot because it provides us a quiet getaway while within reach of the Palisades, Santa Monica, and Venice. We can spend all day playing in the ocean playground: surfing, kayaking, skimboarding, and stand up paddling.

What makes this house unique

This house is unique because multiple families can stay and they won't feel on top of each other. The sound insulation provides a quiet calm. This house offers a rare beach experience because of the deck overlooking the sand, and the direct access to the beach. Kids can play for hours and the rest of the family can be in and out of the water and the hot tub and everyone can be entertained. We have beach chairs and lounge chairs, too, so you can sit on the dock on the sand and watch the happenings.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This house is perfect! I gathered 14 people to celebrate my 40th birthday, and this was the perfect setting. It is even better than the pictures. Haley made the stay welcoming and hassle-free. She thought of everything! The house is spacious with plenty of space for gathering and enough secluded spots for privacy. Entrance is via keypad, so there is no need to coordinate keys with your large group. It is well stocked with everything from towels, beach chairs, kitchen staples, to first aid items. I have literally never been more relaxed. I didn't know it was possible to be this close to the ocean. There were daily sightings of dolphins and seals, and you could see them while lying in bed! You can also see both the sunrise and sunset from the house. This place is paradise. I wept when I left.

Wonderful location and the house was great.

  • 5 of 5

Our family was together for a wedding and the house was perfect for us. Plenty of beds and space for all. We would come back again. My grandchildren loved going down to the ocean and it was easy to keep an eye on them.

Beach Front Christmas Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 8 fabulous days at this home and loved every minute! There were 13 of us and we all had plenty of space.

There were tons of toiletries provided, towels and linens were plentiful and clean. The location was perfect for both hiking and dinners out. Not that you have to eat out as the kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need to cook.

Not one complaint from this group!

Wonderful family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 9 rented this amazing home for the Thanksgiving holiday this year. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed so many features of this beachfront home. From waking up to the sound of the ocean to the wet suits and surf boards provided with the home. The house was comfortable for a large family with too many amenities to name. The location was great with easy access to everything from restaurants to sight seeing. I really don't know how it could have been any better. Highly recommended.

Wedding Weekend

  • 4 of 5

This home has so much potential. It's big and could easily house 2 families. There is no air conditioning so all the windows need to be opened on a warm day, so if traffic noise bothers you then this home is not for you. It didn't bother us. The crashing waves are beautiful and that's all I heard. We had an issue with the TV which was quickly addressed by the owner. I agree with previous review that it should be cleaner. But all in all we had a beautiful weekend and everyone was comfortable. The spa was a hit!

Quite disappointed

  • 2 of 5

I was quite disappointed with this property after reading the reviews and looking at the photos on VRBO. We stayed a week and found the home to be run down and certainly not what we expected.

There is a general sense of disrepair in the home - many systems didnt work and there is no AC. You really cant open the windows at night to cool of the home because the traffic noise from the Highway is too loud. There are many electric fans through the house but they really dont cool the home.

We spent a great deal of time cleaning the unit - there was gum on the deck, bottle caps everywhere, dirty floor and bathroom. Many many bugs clogging up filters and buzzing around.

There are no beach towels nor sun umbrellas that actually work. You can rig it up with a chop stick but at the price charged - that shouldn't be the case.

I gave up on contacting the owner - there response was prompt but they preferred me fixing things as it would be easier for them "than you for pointing out all the problems -w e will add to the list..." Nice but what about me? I didn't rent the home to do handiman work.

There are piles of lumber on the roof deck and old parts and pieces of things - junkyard like. The home next door is condemned having apparently burned. On the other side lives a strange man that stares in your windows. VRBO really failed us on this one although we have had great experiences in the past.

Owner's Response: The listing does not list that the house has AC; there is nearly always a breeze that cools the house nicely. We have since had the windows repaired so that they seal shut and keep any highway noise out. We also were in a trial period with a different cleaning crew and they didn't perform adequately so we have a new crew that has been great. We also now have someone in a position to go to the house during stays in an event of dissatisfaction to do repairs. I have been addressing the issues pointed out to us and I appreciate the feedback so that we may improve our house.

Malibu House -- Just Like Being on a Stationary Cruise Ship

  • 5 of 5

This house was amazing, the pictures don't do it justice. We had a group of 14 family members, never once did we feel like we were tripping over one another. We had plenty of sleeping room on very comfortable beds, plenty of well-equipped bathrooms (shampoo/conditioner/body wash/t.p/towels, etc.) The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could possibly need, perfect!! The views from all three floors are amazing, but the cream of the crop is the upper deck. We spent most of our down time there enjoying the views and sound of the ocean, looking at the stars while sitting around the fire pit, and playing board games at the large umbrella'd patio table -- while listening to music that can be streamed throughout the house. There is a very enjoyable small hot tub as well, perfect for warming up after kayaking. There are stairs for access to the water, though a little rocky it wasn't too difficult to get to. We had fun with our little ones showing them starfish and other ocean inhabitants. The traffic on PCH is crazy, that would be the only negative for this house. At times it was very difficult to park and leave because of the insane traffic, but that's a norm for California. The owners, Tucker and Haley, were very responsive to all our needs. We rate this house A++++ Thank you for sharing your amazing house with us !!

Sitting just 7 miles north of Santa Monica, 17 miles from LAX, and within walking distance of Topanga beach. Try Thai Cholada just a few doors up, for excellent thai food. For a morning pastry, hit Maison Giraud in the Pacific Palisades, and for lunch or dinner, Malibu Seafood is a must. Also Sweet Rose Creamery in the Pacific Palisades is great, as is their location in Brentwood and the entire Brentwood Country mart.
