This small house is extraordinarily well-placed, a hundred yards from Arsenal tube station. Small but perfectly formed (no neighbours!). Widescreen plasma TV with Sky and Netflix. One bedroom, en suite bathroom and large balcony with views of the Emirates stadium. Perfect for one person or a couple. On the edge of Gillespie Park, hence surrounded by trees, a nature reserve and an ecology centre. An absolute gem of a house.
Adorable detached house, located in the heart of Highbury.

About Julia Wilson
Hi there! I'm Julia. I love travel and am off to Africa and Eastern Europe for most of the summer - looking to let out my London house until September-ish, and possibly even indefinitely.
Julia Wilson purchased this House in 2016
Why Julia Wilson chose Highbury West
Highbury is a lovely, leafy, highly desirable neighbourhood of Islington, home to actors, writers and politicians. The house is 4 minutes' walk away from the old Highbury stadium, now home to a Fitness First gym complete with large swimming pool. There's even a yoga and Tai Chi studio in the park next door (which I don't use...). An all round fantastic place to live/stay. I've renovated and decorated my house quite recently to my own unique tastes! You'll find it brightly-coloured, cosy, welcoming and somewhat quirky. It's small (40 square metres) but neatly designed, with an open-plan kitchen and sitting room, a pantry, a balcony, one bedroom and an ensuite bathroom (with bath and excellent shower). I want someone who will take as good care of it as I have in the 16 months I've been happily living here :)
What makes this House unique
No garden, but very close to a beautiful park with several amenities such as a woodland walk, ecology centre and yoga studio. A front-facing balcony provides some outside space. The football stadium nearby livens up the area on match days, so be prepared for quite a chaotic spectacle! Having said that, I've never seen an Arsenal fan behave badly or cause any problems (they're mainly tubby civilised family blokes accompanying cute kids in football shirts!). Actually, watching them parade past the house on the way to the station is quite an exciting experience, especially if you like the fairground style atmosphere. I personally rather look forward to match days. Plus, you can get some amazing hotdogs or burgers. Or a football scarf...

Good location for us being close to our family. The owner has tried very hard but we felt that we needed more space to put our clothes and personal things in the bedroom. It felt very cluttered. The bullion windows in the bedroom let a lot of light in especially when cars went by from the main road. Also no good if you are a light sleeper because of the underground near by. Other than the bedroom , the rest of the property was exceptable.
I am sorry you found the bedroom a little cluttered and that this affected your stay. It does clearly show in the photo that the house is quite homely and lived in, it is not trying to be a hotel. I try to make it clear that I am always happy to clear as much storage space for my tenants as they need, however you did tell me that for your stay it would not be necessary as you were not bringing much luggage. Possibly just a slight breakdown in communication.
Very surprised that you found the morning light disturbing - most of my tenants say that they sleep incredibly well in the very quiet ground floor bedroom, as the neighbourhood is so peaceful.
I am glad you enjoyed the rest of the house.
Lovely unusual property
This little house is a gem very quirky and cosy. Bed very comfortable and it felt very safe in a quiet neighbourhood. 200yds from tube so easy to visit all of what London has to offer. Julia the owner is brilliant nothing to much trouble for her and makes you feel very welcome. Will return at some point as was ideal for us.
Great place, great location and great landlady!
Stayed for 4 weeks during October for business and found this ideal. The rates were great, living accommodation ideal and location well suited for access into central London.
Julia, the property owner, was brilliant throughout the whole process. She was always quick to respond to messages,, such as when I needed to extend by a few day, and genuinely supportive throughout the stay to ensure I had everything I needed.
Recommended very highly!
Wonderfully quirky little house, beautifully presented and with the best host ever.
Every moment of our stay here was joy - Julia is the perfect host; friendly, generous and accommodating. We arrived slightly earlier than originally arranged, but we were welcomed and made to feel at home straight away. The house is beautifully set out and decorated, with everything you could need. The chocolate was especially welcome! The bed is so comfy - full memory foam with matching pillows, so we had three decent night's sleep. The closeness of the tube station was a bonus, meaning getting back from the conference every night we could just relax and get in - no long walks through town late at night, just a few doors down. Just up the road there is a great Chinese takeaway (and plenty of other places to grab food or eat out) and cafes too, and the nature reserve next door is a great place to wander around and de-stress. Can't fault this place, or Julia, at all. Will definitely book again! Thank you!
Simon and his partner were absolutely lovely, a joy to deal with. Perhaps even my politest tenants yet!! They tidied the place perfectly before my return (which wasn't even necessary) and were generally just fantastic and highly understanding throughout. A pleasure to have them stay. Highly recommended!
See above - please just do be wary of match days...definitely don't try and drive!
