a Colorado native that loves the mountains and has a home in Denver. The cabin is my slice of heaven and I enjoy sharing it with others! It is the perfect get-away, to connect with nature, play in the great outdoors, relax and cherish the moments! While you can still 'connect' there, it is easy to forget about everything else when you're at the cabin! Cozy and peaceful in one of the most beautiful areas in the world. An outdoor paradise for everything you want to do - hiking, biking, rock hounding, fishing, climbing, kayaking, rafting, canoeing, x-skiing, alpine at resorts, snowshoeing, horseback riding, soaking in the nearby hot springs!
I love the community there too! Fairplay, Buena Vista, Breckenridge, and Alma, highest elevation inc town in North America. I had a small outdoor gear store - OutYaGo Mountain Gear. Maybe you remember it? :)
Tanya purchased this cabin in 2005
The South Park region is a beautiful treasure among the major ski resorts! Close to Breckenridge, Keystone, A Basin, Copper, Frisco, etc.. there is also the raging Arkansas River for whitewater, 13 and 14k ft peaks to climb and meadows of wildflowers and aspen, even gold mines to explore. South Park is perfectly center of Colorado state! Doesn't get better then this!
Enjoying a fire in a beautiful cozy, luxury log home, a hot tub on the deck, the amazing stars in through the skylights..nestled and secluded in the middle of the Colorado Rocky Mountains - the place and the time there glows!! This full round log home is unique with a 'dream home' feel. The Cabin creates a very cherished, memorable vacation for family, couples, friends, time to reflect by self. Something for everyone to do and love!
We loved the cozy cabin - everything we needed was there and the place was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Local snowshoeing and views were fabulous. We hope to come back soon! Thank you!!!
Nice cabin. Short distance (minutes) from both Fairplay and Alma. If you want secluded, this location is for you. There is no view of anything you want to see, however. Good road, clean cabin with nice deck/porch and hot tub. Decent beds and furniture. Large refrigerator and freezer. Friendly owner who responded promptly when we had a small issue.
Last year I was searching for a quiet place that I can go with my family, and dog, to get away from the hustle and bustle of real life. I love the mountains, and the chill of the night air. We found this gorgeous log cabin on Home Away, and made reservations. Our stay was amazing. Words cannot describe how perfect this place is... how badly we wanted to offer them everything we have, to buy it from them. The property is very close to National Forest access, and the views are stunning! Not a neighbor in sight, and very little traffic on the closest road. At night, it's so dark the sky is unlike any I've ever witnessed. SOOOO many stars! We didn't get a glimpse of the moose that are said to be in the area, or any other such wildlife, but we know it exists there, as we have seen the markings on the trees... and the droppings in the woods. Plenty of smaller critters kept our dog busy, though being mostly a city dog, she's a terrible hunting. It made for much entertainment watching her go up and down, and over and under trying to find the little thing she just saw run past her feet..
The hot tub is amazing, and in the cold snowy night air, the experience is one I always treasure. The sky is perfect with the lights off, and the massaging jets of the hot tub melts away any stress.. Couple that with the wood burning stove, and the ample supply of wood to keep the cabin at an amazing warmth through the day, and well into the night on just one good burn.. It was amazing to lounge on the couch, and gaze into the sky via the skylight windows in the ceiling. The sound of nature, wood crackling, and the awesome stargazing capabilities of this property, all make it well worth every penny we paid.. and it was incredibly reasonable to begin with!
Everything you need to enjoy a long weekend, or month.. is included. There -is- a WiFi connection, but it's pretty worthless for much use, which gives you a chance to get back to the original facebook, and multiplayer games.. There is satellite TV, which was nice in the evening, while making dinner in the fully equipped kitchen.. a Chef's delight is what I would rate the kitchen and it's supplies.. The stove is beautiful with 5 gas burners, and a beautiful large oven. Plenty of coffee making and anything you could need to make a great meal.. BYO Groceries.. We stocked up at Prather's Market, just a short drive away. It made those cold nights, less cold. More home-y.
This year, I needed to do it again. A+++++++++++++
Our time spent at the cabin was better than we had ever expected!! Definitely better than any resort or hotel!! Everything was fully stocked just as Tanya stated!! The drums were a big hit with our guys; I can't recall any quiet time ((haha))!! Our second day we woke up to find that it had snowed during the night; everything was absolutely beautiful!! The hot tub definitely added to our snow experience; it was very nice to wake up to snow and get in the hot tub while admiring our surroundings. The cabin was secluded, but only about 30 minutes from Breckenridge which is where we spent most of our time; the downtown area is absolutely adorable!! We will definitely be back and Tanya thank you again for letting us stay at your cabin!!
Liked the hot tub and trails nearby. It felt remote but
was convenient to a town 5 minutes away. The kitchen
was bigger than expected and well stocked. The size
of the cabin was nice. Great view and scenery and the
cabin was really amazing.
My husband and I rented this cabin for a week to celebrate my 40th birthday with our dog. I could not have asked for a more perfect cabin! From the gourmet kitchen completely stocked with essentials, the hot tub under the sky, the wood stove, to the upstairs bedroom watching the stars from the skylight. Peaceful and private was the vibe.
My husband and I especially loved the kitchen! The stove and oven were beyond gourmet and were so fun to cook on and in! And the kitchen was just the perfect size. Tanya has everything a chef could want waiting there for you. And if you don't feel like cooking, there are many great places to eat in nearby Fairplay. I'd recommend Millonzi's and the Silver Scoop!!
The cabin is a short drive to Breckenridge down a winding fun mountain road! South Park City was really cool, and the Alma Buckskin Cemetery was an interesting place to visit.
But truthfully, if you visit this cabin, you may be compelled just to stay in and enjoy the beauty just inside and outside the cabin as we did. Plans we had made prior to coming were forgone because we were just that happy and content at the cabin! Even our puggle was as happy as a clam and content!!
Do give yourselves a few days to adjust to the altitude. At 10,500 feet, it takes a while for your body to adjust. But do, as Tanya recommends, drink that pristine Rocky Mountain well water! Water never tasted better! Thank you, Tanya, for opening your home!!
