Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Imerovigli - House M

Sumptuous mansion with private garden, pool and extensive terraces, sleeping 6

This luxury villa has been meticulously refurbished by its architect owner to create a minimalist and contemporary home whilst maintaining the elements and spirit of its original architecture. The house is characterized by the soft Aegean light pouring in through its numerous French doors and large bay windows allowing sea views from almost all rooms. The materials, furnishings and appliances of the house have been carefully chosen and designed. The core of the villa is composed by the spacious and stylish living and dining room area. The living room with its imposing cross-vaulted ceiling has been furnished in a sleek and modern manner in order to create absolute comfort whereas the focus of the dining room is the unique and seemingly endless oak table equally suited to dining, leisure and work. The modern kitchen combines clean lines with maximum functionality. It has views both to the garden and the sea and is connected to the airy breakfast lounge with access to the courtyard.

The garden: The south facing garden is an oasis in its own right with olive and bougainvillea trees encircling the inviting swimming pool. This space provides ample opportunities for both relaxing by the pool and entertaining by the generous and sun-sheltered garden table.

The terraces: From the garden, stone steps lead to the mansion’s roof terraces offering unparalleled 360 degree views of the island and the surrounding Cycladic archipelago. At sunset, the terrace lounge area provides an ideal setting for the aperitivo hour - before hitting the local night scene.

Tucked away elegance.

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 6 loved our time in this elegant home. It is located in a quiet area just off the beaten track. We all found after an energetic day of exploring (13,000-20,000 steps!) it was delicious to slip away to this quiet, comfortable home. A dip in the pool, reading and relaxing on the roof, in the garden, living room, dining room or breakfast room gave us lots of space for private enjoyment. There are wonderful restaurants, tavernas overlooking the caldera, grocery stores, shopping, bakeries, an ATM and the bus stop all within a short walk. It was nearly perfectly outfitted for our needs. This home was an integral part of our enjoyment of the island. And our host left excellent recommendations, plus arranged for transport to the airport, ferry dock, and responded quickly to our needs. A big plus was a mid-week cleaning with a little complementary laundry service thrown in.

Lovely main rooms - poor value

  • 1 of 5

Very difficult to find - not on any maps and no address provided. Lovely main rooms, especially breakfast room. Bedrooms quickly get too warm to sleep. Main floor bath is connected to town wastewater, and the smell of sewage pervades. We were not able to use that bath the entire trip. Not suited for children. Pool is very tiny (more of a large bath) and surrounded by very fragile marble tiles such that you can't even sit on the side.

Sitting on roof isn't that pleasant - can't see caldera view and quite windy and dusty, without shade.

Basement bedroom and basement bath not connected, so those in that room must travel two staircases to use the loo (main bath too smelly/very tiny). No laundry facility, which us unusual in this expensive a listing.

Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We were 5 and we all loved our stay. The house si cosy , confortable and Well organised. The views is beautiful and the location is out of the touristic path while being so close to everything . We use to Wake up take our Time in the beautiful garden an then go visit . The sunset so beautiful and Sunrise in the master room. Great restaurant at 2 minutes walk. I Want to go back soon.

Exquisite

  • 5 of 5

Quite simply, this is one of the most peaceful, elegant and stylish places I have ever stayed. There is something very special about this house. Though it doesn't have the caldera view, that vista is only steps away and because of its peak location this house offers something better: serenity. The owners are a delight to deal with; everything here is problem free. My only concern was figuring out when I could return.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

If you don’t have the time to put up w/ me waxing poetic about the perfection that is this villa, let me summarize: I could not recommend this beautiful villa more highly. I dream of the day when I can return...

Booking was a breeze. Johann was quick & helpful; he's experienced w/ the whole vacation rental deal -invaluable in an industry that can be rather tenuous (or downright risky). We were comfortable that he would deliver what he promised after speaking to him & we weren't disappointed. Prior to arrival, he emailed useful info re: the house, area, & island, plus check in instructions. The wonderful caretaker Eleni met us upon our arrival. She was incredibly helpful to us throughout, answering the few questions w/c came up & keeping the villa spic & span. We were happy to find upon our arrival that Johann had provided a few bottles of water and wine, plus fresh fruit - very helpful when you arrive late to an area where drinking from the tap is a no-no due to the high salt content. Johann anticipated all of the needs a renter could have and made arrangements to fill them before they arose. He continued to be available to us via email & phone throughout, & was responsive to our communications until the very end.

The house itself is breathtaking - beautifully designed & wonderfully appointed. The photos above don’t do it justice as it is hard to depict exactly how spacious, light, airy and elegant the villa is. I stayed there with 5 other adults, & the house was large enough & the set-up so clever that we could each have our own space or congregate in common areas &still have ample space to spread out. In addition to the wonderful indoor space, the villa boasts several levels of terraces and a courtyard with a plunge pool.

The location couldn't be better! It has commanding views of the Aegean on one side (perfect to watch the sunrises, for which I woke up before dawn while on vacation - yes, they were that stunning!) & glimpses of the caldera on the other. Some reviews mention that the house doesn't have a perfect view of the caldera, but I think it's an advantage - it kept the location private & quiet, away from the crowds w/c descended every sunset. When I wanted to join said crowds, I just stepped beyond the gate of the house, walked for 2 minutes & chose a fabulous vantage point. The house is a few minutes from multiple grocery stores ; it’s also close to multiple restaurants, shops, car rental companies, tour companies, and the like.

Perfect.

  • 5 of 5

If you're even hesitating half a second about booking this villa, don't. It's spectacular. Stylish, chic, understated, well equipped and in a simply fantastic location. Johan (the owner) is a total pleasure to deal with and we could not be more happy that we decided to stay here. Just brilliant. And, for the record, we are here in September and it is so private and sheltered that I wouldn't agree at all with the previous review about it being too windy at this time of year. Our weather has been perfect - and our trip here to Santorini has been made even more idyllic by the fact we've had this villa as a sanctuary to return to each day. JBI (just book it!)

On the very highest spot of the Caldera rim, on Malteza square in Imerovigli, stands this patrician mansion from the mid 19th century. The village of Imerovigli, perched more than 300 metres above the Aegean Sea, is widely recognised as the most exclusive location on Santorini and a favourite among seasoned travellers. Sheltered from the bustling crowds elsewhere on the island, Imerovigli captures the essence of what Santorini is all about – serenity, tranquillity and a surreal panorama.

Imerovigli is situated some 2 kilometres north of Fira which can be reached via a breathtaking walk along the Caldera. Imerovigli is further some 10 kilometres from the airport and 12 kilometres from the main port.
