Overview

About the property

Fabulous family house overlooking Mawgan Porth beach and sea.

Chandella Villa is a much-loved family home with an uninterrupted, ever-changing view of the whole of Mawgan Porth bay.

The beach is a few minutes' walk from the garden along a cliff path, and getting in to the shops and restaurants of Mawgan Porth is easy, too.

Inside, the focal point of the house is the long main room with huge full-length sliding windows looking out onto the beach and the sea. Bright and white, it has distinct sitting and eating areas designed for informality and relaxing.

Also on the upper floor are two good-sized double bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two singles), a large bedroom with two bunk beds, and a smaller room which can hold a single bed as well. There is a newly-fitted shared bath and shower room with a loo, as well as a separate loo by the hallway. Downstairs there are two double bedrooms looking out over the bay, one with a new ensuite shower and loo, and the master bedroom with a large ensuite bath, shower and loo. There is a hot shower outside as well, for when you come back from the beach!

The house has undergone a recent refurbishment but we have tried to keep the charm of the house, which still has many elements from its building in the 1970s – so please don't expect cutting-edge fixtures and fittings, or immaculate decoration everywhere...

The kitchen, for example, is perfectly functional – with a double sink, gas cooker, separate gas grill, fridge, dishwasher and a microwave/convection oven – but it was obviously put in about 20 years ago. Though once you see the panoramic view from the window you won’t notice the dated design.

Outside there is a spectacular wrap-around balcony for worshipping the sun on, plenty of parking, and a large lawned garden around the house. The garage is big, accessible through the kitchen as well, and makes a great place to put on wetsuits. It also holds the washing machine and dryer, as well as an additional large fridge freezer.

You’ll find that there’s little or no mobile signal here – which most people find is a blessing for a holiday break. But we do have fast free WiFi for those who need to catch up (you don’t have to give out the password if you don’t want to).

Chandella Villa has been at the heart of the most precious holiday memories for our family and our friends – and we welcome you to create your own ones here.

Booking: From 23rd June - weekly over the summer, then after that 3-day long weekends are available as well. Please ask.

Amazing location and beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

Right above Mawgan Porth beach this could not have a better location and is wonderfully light and airy. All the main rooms have fantastic views of the beach, sea and towards to village centre. Kitchen very well equipped and decor and artwork all very attractive. However not so 'perfect' that one is worried with a large group of teenagers such as we had. Great bonus was a newly erected table tennis table in the garage which provided hours of entertainment and was also an excellent bonus to be able to use wetsuits and body boards left by the owners. Easy walk to the village for choice of coffee shops and places to eat. Highly recommend Scott and Babs, a 20 minute walk away inland. Excellent location for numerous fab beaches and whole area is very dog friendly. Would go again tomorrow in a heartbeat! Many thanks for sharing this incredible home with us. Lynne

Wonderful house for a big family with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived we were thrilled by the view. The house is perfectly placed to see the whole bay and is an easy walk straight down to the beach. The big living/dining room provides so much room for everyone to be comfortable and spread out. The whole house is very nicely decorated with blue and white and interesting art work.

We were 8 adults, 4 children and one 8 week old baby.

The balcony is a wonderful space and the garden provides lots of room for bikes, scooters etc to keep everyone busy!

The bedrooms are all very comfortable. The children loved the bunk room which was also big enough to play in. The downstairs bedrooms are all lovely and have good en suites and French windows onto the garden.

The garage is also very useful for storing surf boards, bikes etc and the big fridge/freezer is really helpful. The kitchen is very well equipped with china, cutlery, cooking utensils and dishes which is important when you are catering for big numbers.

It is hard for photographs to do the house justice - we all had a wonderful time and were sad to leave.

Great house for a large group

  • 5 of 5

This house is ideal for a large group of family/friends seeking a seaside holiday.

There is a superb view of the bay and an ever changing picture as the tide ebbs and flows. The only negative was the closure of part of the cliff walk meant it was difficult for some to get to the beach.

The large selection of wet suits and body boards in the garage was a bonus. The energetic members enjoyed the cliff walks and the surf - the presence of the lifeguards was comforting. Have a grocery delivery to set yourselves up for the week. Chip shop in the village is also recommended.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a family Christmas break at Chandella Villa -what an incredible location! Perfect for the whole family to get together, lovely roomy property which is very well equipped and truly felt like a home-from-home experience. Straight out onto the coastal paths, or down to the beach, across to the village pub, restaurant, shop and fish and chip shop, no need to go anywhere else - just chill and enjoy the breath-taking views, watching the waves roll in. Being December the weather was a bit stormy which did make the house a little draughty but the log burner helped warm us up. We all agreed this was the perfect location for our Christmas - thank you for the proper Christmas tree and for the warm welcome, the brilliant information pack and for letting us share your beautiful house. We will hopefully be back!
