Serene Getaway with Gorgeous Views

  • 5 of 5

Booked this cabin for a girls getaway with my mom and sisters and we were not disappointed! This home is nestled alongside the lake surrounded by beach, dune grass, and a wooded community and was a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the day to day.

We stocked up on groceries and didn't leave the lake once, taking multiple walks along the beach, cozying up next to the fire with the fire pit blankets provided, toasting marshmallows, sipping coffee while watching the sun rise, and playing countless board games on the patio. We gave the kayaks a try and appreciated the hammock hanging in the shade. Except for sleeping, most of our visit was spent outside, even in cooler than expected temps! We enjoyed a fire in the wood burning stove on our first night as well.

Upon reading previous reviews we intentionally brought our own drinking water - a water filter is provided and the water is safe to drink, just has a light sulfur smell, but we preferred to use the water we brought for convenience. Also mentioned in previous reviews is the fact that this house relies on septic disposal - guests are invited to implement water conservation practices and dispose of waste water from dishes outside, which wasn't a problem at all. The cabin is open concept, so noise travels indoors if members of your group are early risers or night owls - we spent our mornings and evenings outside as there is plenty of seating and you can't get enough of the views, however this info might be helpful for families traveling with young kids.

The hosts have thought of quite literally everything you may need - we would absolutely consider visiting this home again! If you're looking for a secluded escape to build memories with your family and/or closest friends, this is the spot!

The cabin was so cute exactly like the pictures. We did not have any issues with water drainage from shower or sinks. Perfect place to unplug & be a family.

We loved the peace and quiet and escaping life for awhile!!!!

  • 5 of 5

So fun to be right on the lake and enjoying all that that allows you to do !! Loved having Kayaks available to use and also being able to take nice long walks on the beautiful sand beaches - we both commented that the sand is nicer than Cancun or Cozumel sand!!! Thanks for sharing your property - will be back!!!

The perfect place!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed June 1-3, 2018. I must of said 50 times over the weekend, this is just the most perfect little cottage. Really well done inside and out. Clean, organized, all the essentials and more. Some of the best night lights throughout the cabin I've ever seen. Really nice sliding doors front and back and windows - kept up really well. Kids (6 & 9) played on the great beach just steps from back door. Best kite flying ever! Water was still chilly, but it didn't stop them. Super sandy beach, no rocks... kids kept calling it the sea or ocean it was so nice! Lots of nice seating, chairs, hammock all over property - lots of choices! Living room Futon is super comfortable!

There was a previous guest that commented on water; having to toss out dish water due to holding tank, issues with shower and bringing water to drink. We had NO issues with the shower. It's slow to drain, but was fine for our quick showers - pretty normal for rustic cabin living I thought. It's was easy to toss out dish water after doing dishes with the nice dish pans they have. Our family appreciate the rustic cabin living and being thoughtful of our usage and not being wasteful with water - good lessons :)

The owners were helpful with questions and quick to get back to us before and during our stay. We're already talking about when we can go back.

Little piece of heaven.

Beautiful cabin on the lake

  • 4 of 5

Our group very much enjoyed the cabin on Lake Michigan. The outdoor fire pit on the lake was our favorite spot to enjoy each evening. Location is perfect for golf. While there we caught a Packers game and Brewers game. Thank you.

Cute Cabin with some issues

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is very cute with kitschy decor and an amazing view of Lake Michigan. The owners provide thoughtful and helpful details, such as a drawer full of board games, flashlights, wood for the fireplace, bug spray, and even an umbrella hanging by the door. We enjoyed our stay in the area, but there were some issues that future renters might important to know before renting the cabin.

The water is not drinkable; be sure to bring bottled water. This fact was mentioned in a review, but it is not noted in the details of the listing. The cabin is connected to a septic holding tank, which created problems for us. As instructed on a sign on the kitchen counter, we washed our dishes in the dishpan provided, and then disposed of the water outside in the weeds. We did not anticipate this being necessary, and we would have liked to have been aware of this requirement. When showering, you will need to turn the water off VERY frequently; even with this process, we stood in several inches of water while showering. When using the bathroom sink in the evening to wash up, within 60 seconds the sound of bubbling water was heard in the shower, and you could see the water rising in the floor drain. Also, be aware that the cabin does not have heat.

The grounds surrounding the cabin are not maintained to the level shown in the listing photos; the foliage is very overgrown. We attempted to sit outside on both the deck and on the beach, but the flies surrounded us in swarms and bit so badly that we were unable to enjoy any time sitting outside (even with bug spray!). This is not the fault of the owners, but renters should be aware of this possible problem. The furniture outside was dirty, and all of it needed to be wiped down before use.

The cleaning fee for the rental is very high at $125, and while the cabin is clean, it is not clean to the level we would expect for this high price. There is a service fee, and two different tax fees charged, which brought the price per night to $322.44. With a price per night at over $300, it is unacceptable to expect a guest to dispose of their dishwasher outside, be unable to take a comfortable shower, and start a wood burning stove to get heat on a chilly night.

Future renters may not find any of these details concerning; however, in fairness, had we been aware of these details, we would not have rented this cabin. At a total price of over $600 for two nights, we expected much more.
