We are perfect for couples, families and all age groups. Windswept villa, with our own jacuzzi, table tennis, plunge pool in our lovely tropical gardens, offers a perfect Barbadian holiday because, located in the beautiful gated community resort of Sugar Hill, we offer the benefits of a home with the amenities of a hotel. We are set on a ridge on the West Coast of Barbados with fantastic views of the nearby Caribbean Sea. Being slightly elevated we benefit not only from the views but also from the gentle breezes that blow east to west - a life saver during the hot season. Sugar Hill offers a great gym, tennis courts, stunning infinity pools, on site restaurant, 24/7 security. Having that security element gives real peace of mind and if you're a family with children it's lovely that they can explore, play, wander around in complete safety. It means that you can relax too!
So, if you just want to lounge by the pool, sip cocktails and have a leisurely lunch in the nearby restaurant, watch an amazing sunset from our terrace, relax with a well deserved sundowner in our jacuzzi - the list goes on - this is the place for you.
Also, you are only a few minutes from those endless stretches of golden palm-tree lined beaches that are lapped by the warm Caribbean waters. And it's fun to explore the beach bars and local restaurants nestled in the palm trees of many of our nearby beaches. And if you need a bit more activity there's the hustle and bustle of Holetown nearby with its restaurants and tax free shopping.
Having recently returned to the UK for our children's education these are the things we miss most about our Caribbean home - walking upstairs to our large, bright, airy living room with French doors opening onto the terrace and the stunning view - vast Caribbean Sea, massive blue sky and humming birds darting around. We do most of our eating outside in the warm shade of this terrace but there's also a dining table inside if you prefer. The house has slatted windows and is positioned so we benefit from the easterly breeze but there are overhead fans in all the rooms. The well equipped kitchen is upstairs too along with a bathroom and private study area. The house has wifi throughout and we have a TV and DVD library.
All the bedrooms are downstairs. The two larger rooms are en suite with French doors opening onto the downstairs terrace that has a large awning which is really useful when the sun is at its strongest. You can have lots of fun here with playing table tennis then jumping in the plunge pool to cool down before taking a jacuzzi - there's nothing better than having a jacuzzi as the sun is going down and watching the fireflies dancing amongst the palm trees. The gardens around our villa are large with lots of fruit trees that we've planted over the years including mangoes, Bajan cherry, bananas, avocado pear, guava. We grow limes the size of grapefruits and if they're in season you'll be able use for your G&T or rum punch, and the mango tree drips with mangoes in the summer.
Back to the bedrooms - all are air conditioned as well as having overhead fans. Within the main villa we have a king and queen bed, then bedroom with two single beds and vanity sink unit. We also have a travel cot/crib available.
The fourth bedroom is in the Guest Cottage, set apart in our garden with its own terrace, kitchenette and bathroom. This is a perfect set up that gives additional privacy - use of the Guest Cottage will incur an additional nightly fee.
All our guests have access to the whole villa (and cottage by prior agreement), plus our gardens, private pool, jacuzzi and table tennis table, as well as all the amenities that Sugar Hill has to offer.
In addition to our own garden, Sugar Hill offers a number of large common grassy areas where the children can play football, fly kites, run around etc. in complete safety. It's also lovely to walk around the estate when it's cooler at sunrise or sunset. You never know, you might spot the odd celeb!
Sugar Hill is one of the premier resorts in Barbados, beautifully maintained with lush tropical gardens. There is full time, 24 hour security and helpful staff at the desk of the club house. Sugar Hill is peaceful and safe. There are two fabulous pools, the club house pool has a negative edge overlooking the Caribbean Sea and there's a paddling area for younger children, and the 'waterfall pool' nestled amongst palm trees. There are 4 flood lit tennis courts and coaching is available by arrangement with the resident pro. For those who want to keep up their exercise there is a well equipped gymnasium. The club house also has a restaurant with good varied menu.
Whilst taxis and buses are plentiful it is definitely worth hiring a car because there's so much to explore on the island and Sugar Hill is perfectly placed - rugged east coast where you can take a sea bath and watch the surfers around Bathsheba, white sand beaches of the west coast with fabulous beach-side dining alongside local rum shops, catamaran cruises, the pink beaches down at the Crane, historic Bridgetown with George Washington House, Scotland district in the north with a drive past Morgan Lewis mill which can still grind sugar cane. There are various riding stables, zip lining, international polo tournaments and polo lessons a short drive away at Apes Hill, international cricket at the Kensington Oval (the crowds are just as entertaining as the matches!), horse racing at the Garrison - the list goes on..
Also, there's a pretty good local bus service along the main coastal routes and it's inexpensive at US$1 per ride - you could easily get to Bridgetown this way and taking a trip down to the fish fry at Oistins on a Friday night would be even more of an adventure by bus! You can also take a safari tour and explore the island in a jeep if that appeals.
