About Carolyn Potter
I was born and grew up in Dublin and left home to get a job in the UK in the early 1980's when I was in my 20's. I now live in the UK but bought this apartment in Dublin many years ago after the death of my Mum, so that I have a place for my family and myself to visit, so that I get to keep my accent and my children get to know a bit about their roots!
Carolyn Potter purchased this Apartment in 1999
Why Carolyn Potter chose City Centre Dublin
I bought this property because it is right in the very centre of things in the city centre. It is on the northside (only just north of the river!), and because I am a Northsider I was attracted to it, Everywhere you would want to visit is walkable from the front door. Also this particular apartment, although it was just one bedroom, was significantly more spacious than most that I looked at and it was also in a nice well maintained block. It fitted the bill for holidays or short break in Ireland. We refurbished the property a couple of years ago, and completely refurnished it, and it now offers everything you would want in a home from home setting. We also installed WIFI, and cable TV so there is a full range of entertainment options available. There is a small DVD library there too.
What makes this Apartment unique
The main benefit of this property is it's location. Although it is right in the heart of the city it is not on a main traffic route. It is situated on a little used stretch of a one way system, so there is very little street noise. The apartment is on the third floor and in all my visits there I have never heard any noise coming from the neighbouring apartments. It feels a very comfortable and safe place to be . In this part of the city centre there are several apartment blocks and they have been well catered by foodstores. There are several major supermarkets withing a couple of minutes walk and many other small convenience stores, not to mention the myriad of bars, restaurants and other venues right on your doorstep. I am often asked if the apartment is safe. I frequently travel there by myself and walk back to the apartment late at night. As I woman alone I feel very safe there. There are several layers of security between the front door and the street, and the streets themselves are quiet, but busy enough to feel safe walking down alone late in the evening. Obviously, this is a city centre, and I am relating my own experience. I can't guarantee that you would never encounter problems, I am just saying that I never have.
Please consider the following guidelines when booking this property:

Nice place, great location and value
This is a very nice apartment in a great location. Food stores nearby (Aldi and Lidl). This place is a great value compared to other places in Dublin city centre.
One Week Stay
I would recommend this property to friends. We stayed in the apartment for a week and it was very beneficial for our visit. It's a 15 minute walk to many of the attractions available with the Dublin Pass. It's also within a five minute walk of bus and rail public transport.
I would recommend staying here with only two people as there is only one bed. The additional bedding is a pull out sofa. However, to be fair, we didnt use it and I dont know how comfortable it was. I'm just basing this off previous experiences with pull out sofas.
This apartment is excellent for a couple on vacation who want to stay in an affordable place in the city center. There are several grocery stores within walking distance and adequate cooking capabilities in the apartment. This helped us reduce some of the meal costs for our visit.
If you book this apartment, ensure you arrive exactly at the agreed time, as someone has to meet you with a key. We failed to recognize this and unfortunately delayed the lady cleaning the apartment, who was also handing off our key.
Tha apartment is very secure, with layered security throughout the building.
If Mrs. Potter will have us again, we will probably stay here again in the future.
Perfect Dublin Homebase
Carolyn's apartment is perfectly situated in Dublin, making it the perfect homebase to explore Dublin. We were able to walk to O'Connell Street, Temple Bar, Grafton St., etc. It is a great value compared to many other properties in the area. Inez, the apartment manager, met us to hand off the keys and even arranged for an early check in because our flight landed in the morning. We were really grateful to be able to drop off our luggage and not have to lug it around the city until check in time. The apartment is small, and to be honest, unless you are really comfortable with the people that you are with, I would say it is best suited for 2 people. There were 4 of us and at times, we did feel on top of each other especially with there not being too much space for everyone's luggage as well. Everything that the previous reviewers mentioned about the shower is true. The water pressure is extremely weak, even with the shower booster. Although to be fair, it seems a lot of people in Ireland have electric showers so you won't get the turbo blast that you're used to in the states. All in all, we had a wonderful time and appreciated the hospitality that Inez and Carolyn extended to our group.
Overall we enjoyed our short stay here. Thanks to airline nightmares, we had one less day to enjoy this excellently located condo in Dublin. A couple things that need updating and better instructions are to do with the television. I understand that while on vacation you are supposed to be out and about, but sometimes you just want to relax inside. There were no directions on how to use the various remotes, and the instruction manual is dated 2014. We figured it out, but it took time and energy, and after the lost 30 hours thanks to the airlines, we were exhausted and easily frustrated.
This apartment worked well for our group of 4 ladies. Good location, clean accommodations, safe/secure building. Everything went smoothly. My only recommendation would be an additional oscillating fan due to no air conditioning.
The apartment is in a great location. It’s close to everything. The longest walk was 20 minuets. The apartment has everything you need and I would recommend it!
This property is located right in the very heart of the city centre on the north side of the river Liffey. It is located in a residential block on Parnell Street, which runs parallel to Henry Street (2 minutes walk) which at one time was labelled the busiest shopping street in Europe. O' Connell Street which is normally considered the centre of the city is only 5 minutes walk from the front door.
It only 2 minutes walk to the Dominick stop of the new Tram line called the LUAS. This new line takes you straight across to St. Stephens Green. (The line opened in December 2017) This allows quick and easy access to the south city and it's amenities.
There are numerous bars, shops restaurants and attractions on the doorstep, and the world famous Temple bar is only a leisurely 12 minute walk away over the River Liffey. In addition there is a multiplex cinema directly next door to the apartment building. You would find it hard to be closer to the heart of the city.
Dublin is a small city and all the major attractions are located within walking distance.
Travel out of the city is also possible, and numerous sightseeing trips are organised by travel companies operating in the city centre. The pick up points for those tours are generally within walking distance of the apartment too.
