About Owner / Property Manager

We have visited Cape May for the last 12 years with our 2 boys. We started out at the camp grounds, then rented a house and most recently stayed in hotels on Beach Avenue. Each year we talked about how wonderful it would be to have a little piece of Cape May to call our own. This is a second home for us, not an investment property. We enjoy Cape May and love what every season brings. We have decided to make our home available to others so that you too, can enjoy all that Cape May has to offer.

Owner / Property Manager purchased this house in 2012

Why Owner / Property Manager chose Cape May

This house is tastefully decorated with all of the comforts of home. There are an abundance of windows making this a bright and sunny home. Our 3 season Solarium allows you to enjoy the outdoors with complete privacy (compliments of the surrounding bamboo). Enjoy your morning coffee/tea while you enjoy a book/newspaper in a wicker rocking chair. There is no better way to start your day.

What makes this house unique

We have beach tags available for our guests to use. The shed is available for our guests to store bikes, beach gear and/or surf boards.

Various paper products are available for your convenience (toilet paper, tissues & paper towels).

The Kitchen is stocked with various panry items (spices, condiments, saran wrap, foil, baggies etc.) - we just ask that items depleted are replaced.

A fitness center and Health/Beauty Spa are within a block.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 days at this charming Cape May home. Very tastefully furnished and spotless. The kitchen was well equipped which made meal preparation easy and clean up a breeze. I think our favorite spot was the solarium no matter the time of day. Perfect for relaxing after an afternoon at the beach. (We had beautiful weather for September). Only downfall, the time went by too quickly and we had to leave. Loved this house and had a wonderful stay!

Wrapping Up Summer in Cape May!

  • 5 of 5

Great place. Incredibly nice and worked perfectly for our family of 8. Kitchen, dining room, and back sun room let us all hang out, cook, and eat together. Our host was responsive and helpful. The area of Cape May we had not stayed in before, but found it to be calm and wonderful. There are some nice shops and restaurants and its a really easy walk to the outdoor mall and the beach.

Hurley House

  • 2 of 5

This was our first stay at the Hurley House. When we arrived at 3 pm the house still had not been cleaned. We contacted the owner who was very apologetic and had a crew come over to clean up right away. Unfortunately we had to sit outside for about an hour with my two young children as to not get in the way. After our arrival the house was wonderful. It was a short distance to the beach and shops. The layout and kitchen was great. We felt that we left the house in good condition considering the cleaning crew was on it's way. We fixed the beds, swept, wiped down the toilets, counters, sinks, etc. However, we were charged $50 after our departure for a few goldfish under the bed (which we accidentally missed) and smudges on the glass door both which we assumed the cleaning crew would take care of. The charge was also for leaving the iron out causing water to spill and be wiped up, pillows in the wrong beds, the dvd player being hooked up to a tv, and hangers in the wrong closets. Therefore if you stay at the Hurley House ensure that you inventory which pillows and hangers go where or you will be charged. Lastly we were charged for recycling too many items. If you plan to drink a lot of water, wine, beer, and soda you will need to bring your recyclables home with you to avoid a charge. My recommendation would be that the owner purchase a bigger container as we did bring the recyclables out to the curb as directed. Although we enjoyed the house very much the $50 charge for these petty items after we had to wait an hour upon arrival in the hot car left a poor taste in our mouths.

Owner's Response: We were able to allow this guest to access the house prior to check-in so that they could gain access to our beach passes and begin their vacation as soon as they arrived in Cape May. I was appalled to hear that the house had not been cleaned prior to the check-in time. We have since fired that cleaning service as a result of them showing up 30 minutes after check-in on two different occasions this summer (2016). We do not solely use a cleaning service as, we alternate and clean the house ourselves to ensure that the house is kept to a “clean” and “immaculate” standard as noted in previous reviews. A nominal fee was assessed for cleaning, as my husband and I spent 30 minutes getting the house (inside and out) back in order and spent additional time cleaning. Our rental agreement states that the house be left in a neat condition to avoid additional cleaning charges. This is the first time that we have been in a situation to charge a guest an additional fee for cleaning.

A great vacation

  • 4 of 5

We were two families - four adults, four children ages 6 - 9. The Hurley House was spotlessly clean and very well appointed. The layout was great and plenty roomy for our families. We walked or biked to the beach and to the Washington Mall area -- it's a little farther than we wanted it to be with kids in tow, but very do-able - about 3/4 mile to either location. The kitchen had everything you could ask for. In fact we liked the blender so much (great for making smoothies!) that we bought one just like it! Nice to have the outdoor space in the evening when it was a little cooler and kids were sleeping. The master bedroom is really large with a king bed. The only other room for a couple is very small with only a full bed - so for two families...one is going to definitely have to be more flexible on accomodations. That being said, beds were all comfortable, and it worked out fine. The owners were always responsive and especially kind when we lost our car keys the last day offering to let us stay longer while we had new keys made. Other than loosing our car keys (!) a really wonderful vacation.

Owner's Response: We appreciate you sharing your experience. The upstairs bedrooms are not as spacious as the master bedroom room, as they are the original rooms from a fishing cottage that existed prior to the addition added to the front of the house. They allow for beds, night stands and a built in wall area for the TV and clothes storage.

Another great stay in Cape May!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Hurley House and it was once again a great vacation! The house is perfect for our family and in-laws and we had plenty of room to relax and make meals. This is a lovely, clean house in a great area in Cape May close to the beach, shopping and restaurants. I love the sunroom and beautiful outdoor space!
