(NEW means significantly remodeled in Spring 2018!

Pictures not yet here but coming...) Whispering Pines Mountain Hideaway is the perfect family and hikers vacation destination. We border Rocky Mountain National Park on 6 acres just 5 minutes off Highway 7 and 20 minutes south of Estes Park. This home is very quiet and surrounded by forest and beautiful rock formations. Overlooking the Tahosa Valley, and with no neighbors in sight, you can hike, enjoy the wrap-around deck, wander down to the stream on our property or just relax in the house sitting by a fire, reading a book, playing games or watching Netflix or cable. The WiFi is solid and reliable.

Want to enjoy the mountains, but not be “stuck” in the mountains? Whispering Pines is perfect. Secluded, it is also only 8 miles from downtown Estes Park where dining, shopping, entertainment and all kinds of activities are available. And if you haven’t visited Estes Park before, you will love it. Simply visit our website and click on our Estes Park link where you can see what activities are going on while you’re there.

Do you prefer to hike, fish, golf or even horseback ride? All these activities are available nearby. We are less than 200 yards from the new Storm Mountain Trail which connects to Estes Cone, Eugenia Mine and the famous Longs Peak Trail!

We love the drive down Highway 7 to the tiny hamlet of Allenspark, about 15 minutes away to the south. We are close to Estes' pioneer and Park advocate Enos Mill's cabin off Highway 7 and private tours can be arranged. Also in Estes and Allenspark you can visit local art and craft shops. We are near to both the Longs Peak Trailhead and the wonderful Wild Basin hiking areas.

The best aspect of Whispering Pines Mountain Hideaway is how it makes you feel - refreshed, renewed and invigorated with the big views of the wilderness areas that surround us.

And when you do choose to be at home in our cabin, we provide all the essential comforts that you will need. Relax by the fire in the living room, watch TV, play games in the dining room or take an inviting nap in one of the comfortable beds that await you. Want to enjoy a home- cooked meal? Our kitchen is ready for you, unless you would prefer to eat on the deck and enjoy the mountain scenery.

We love our home. We know you will too. We hope you will come and visit us during your next stay in the Estes Park area.

Note: This facility is available year-round subject to weather, however if snowy conditions exist, a 4 wheel drive or all wheel vehicle is necessary. We believe you do not need one in the summer but having one would be the ideal situation.

About Dan and Kelly Heard, owners, Serena Hennig, property manager

I discovered Colorado in 1972 when hiking and camping in the San Juan Mountains, but I fell in love with it in 1994 when Kelly and I visited with friends at the YMCA here. We found Alberta Falls, and the Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, Dream Lake, Emerald Lake hikes to be great ways to introduce our young new family to the outdoors. Then later we discovered more difficult hikes like Sky Pond and I climbed Longs twice. We have brought a bit of Texas hospitality with us, and we hope you enjoy our paradise in the mountains!

Why Dan and Kelly Heard, owners, Serena Hennig, property manager chose Estes Park

The spirit of Estes Park is one of helpful caring cooperation. We love the people here. And though there are dozens of homes, cabins, condos and lodges for you in the greater Estes Valley, know you are a full 2200 feet above the Town of Estes Park, and in the summer we are cooler, which is important. We are at 9500 feet elevation, you find serenity and peacefulness you just don't find in the bustling town. The special views of Twin Sisters, Battle Mountain, Tahosa Valley down toward Boulder and Denver, and a peak of the famous Long's Peak are breathtaking.

This place is truly tranquil, a wonderful respite from all your stress and burdens.

What makes this house unique

Visitors love the wrap around deck with a view of the pine trees and surrounding mountains overseeing the lovely Tahosa Valley. Few places border Rocky Mountain National Park, and are near the great overlook of Estes Cone. And of course the rarely seen "Goblin's Castle" - a rock formation ON OUR PROPERTY! Get your rappelling gear out and climb the 80 foot formation! (warning - you must be trained and properly equipped to rock climb and we don't recommend for anyone underage).

Perfect for our 2 family, adventure filled get away!

  • 5 of 5

Two families (6 Adults, 2 teens, & 1- 9 yr old) stayed for a week in late July/early August 2017. We had plenty of room both inside & outside to relax and spread out! It was a little off the beaten path, up a long winding road, but it gave us the much needed space we had hoped for from the overly crowded Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park. Approximately 20 min from Estes Park, but very close to Lilly Lake, Longs Peak Trail head, & the Wild Basin. Amazing views from the deck and dining area of Longs Peak & Twin sisters. The cabin is dated, but clean, very homey & well stocked with everything you could imagine. The owners were wonderful & easy to deal with! The only con I can think of was it could use a just little more TLC (some pealing paint on the deck, torn screen door, & dirty windows)but that would not keep us from coming back again. We had a perfect vacation & it wouldn't have been nearly as relaxing or fun without Howard & Karleen allowing us to stay in their lovely cabin.

Beautiful setting.

The property is very secluded and functional for a good size group. We had 6 adults and 4 children ages 2-6. It is also very well stocked with cooking utensils.

Just what the doctor ordered

  • 5 of 5

This place was "as advertised". A good value. Stayed a week. Coming from Texas, the view was fantastic and the house comfortable for 10. 6 adults, 4 boys. Other reviews say the same thing.

Convenient to Estes Park downtown and restaurants. Did horseback rides, hiking, jeep tours etc. For the end of July we also had GREAT weather the entire week.

Pleasant Surroundings

  • 5 of 5

After years of camping in the Rockies, we've found it necessary to make the switch to renting cabins/homes in the Rockies. The location of this house is perfect because it made us feel like we were "away from it all." The property is secluded with great climbing and exploring opportunities. We loved the little stream. The house had everything we needed plus amazing views. The two living areas were nice to have. The dining room surrounded by windows was my favorite place.

Beautiful by secluded

  • 4 of 5

The Hamiltons are wonderful hosts providing every amenity you could need! The property and view of Longs Peak and surrounding peaks is amazing! The house is a bit secluded as it takes about 7 min to get from the home to the main highway and then another 10-15 minutes to get into Estes. If you are looking for a quiet, secluded place, this is the place for you! If you plan to spend time traveling in and out of the city or to many different destinations you may want to be closer to action.
