A newly-built guesthouse with the feel of the Old West.
We are located far enough out of Alpine to give you a rural feel, but in reality being just minutes from downtown, this studio guesthouse gives you the best of both worlds. This is our guesthouse, and sits approximately 30 feet from our house. The patio shown is part of our house. However, we are very respectful of your privacy, and all of the facilities are yours to use during your stay.
Sit out on the large covered porch and enjoy watching the quail and other wildlife, or visit with our own assortment of livestock. We are pet-friendly, and can even board horses for a small fee.
After you have enjoyed your day, relax around a fire in the fire pit, or soak in the hot tub while watching the sky for shooting stars and satellites. If you feel like cooking outside, there is a gas grill available, or you can BBQ over the fire in the fire pit.
Inside the guesthouse, you will experience the warmth of rustic and the comfort of modern from the custom-built cedar furniture and cabinetry to the knotty-pine vaulted ceiling, along with the wall of windows opening onto a fantastic view of Alpine against the mountains. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, sink, cook-top, and pantry. It is equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, automatic coffee-maker, toaster, and cooking utensils.
The queen-size custom-built bed has plenty of storage space under it in case you want to stay awhile.
The television is a 32-inch flat screen with satellite service and a DVD player.
The guesthouse is climate-controlled with a whisper-quiet heating and cooling system.
The modern, spacious bathroom includes a large walk-in shower, and a vanity with plenty of counter space. There is also a hair dryer, and an iron and ironing board.
If we are booked, or you are looking for something a little bigger, please check out our sister property, listing #923603.
Come stay outside the box, and experience the true West Texas.
When we rented this place for our vacation, the pictures and description made us believe that we were the only ones there. We were very sad to find out that all the pictures, (the hammock, the hot tub) were on the owners house patio. The door to our little apartment opened up to the house patio. So if we were to get into the tub or the hammock (which we could not find) anyone from inside her house could watch us from inside the house. The place is very nice, and the owner, which we did not meet, was very generous with her farm fresh eggs and bottle of wine to help us enjoy our stay. The animals were awesome and fun to watch and pet, however there was another couple in the apartment next to us. I believe the entire place had about 4 or 5 apartments there.
I would have not booked the place if I had known that we were going to be there with others. I wanted solitude and to be alone. The pictures on this page show and are deceptive that make you feel that you have privacy in which you have NONE unless you are inside.
We ended up leaving 1 day early because we were so disappointed. I would hope that the owner will please restate that her back yard is RIGHT in front of your apartment door, as is her sliding glass doors to her home and living room. Pictures more accurately depicting privacy should also be posted.
We had everything but food here and Lisa was so nice and helpful. Would recommend the accommodations as the studio was lovely. Would love to stay another time for sure.
Beautiful Facility and great location to travel from ion the Big Bend Area. Owners instructions to the property and access was great
I only gave it 4 stars due to all the mess left by the Peacocks all over the patio and BBQ.
We spent 4 nights and loved the property. It was so nice having the animals to watch. The baby goats were so entertaining. The guest house was spotless and the fresh farm eggs wonderful.
We so enjoyed our visit. It was so nice to have a grill we cooked steaks. Had a wonderful New Years.
We went to Big Bend, Marfa, and McDonald Observatory over the course of a long weekend but the highlight of our trip was the time we spent at this house. First things first, the animals (chickens and goats and peacocks and a horse) are right out back from the house and they're so sweet and you're allowed to go hang out with them (there were two baby goats to pet!). The hot tub and fire pit and grill are wonderful and well maintained. Lisa was so sweet and, even though she was so great at respecting our privacy and not being intrusive, we kept seeking her out and chatting her up to learn about the area because she was so nice to talk to. The fresh laid eggs and bottle of wine and "guest book" were such nice touches. We had fun every place we went but were always the most excited just to get back to this lovely ranch at the end of the day and enjoy all the scenic views and amenities it has to offer. Can't wait to come back for another visit in the future.
We stayed here for the second time just before Christmas 2016. The porch is a wonderful place to sit and read and drink coffee, the hot tub is a great place to watch the stars in a cold night, and Alpine is just about a five-minute drive. It's clean and if you're amused by animals it has lots of goats, chickens, peafowl, and a horse to keep you entertained. This is a great spot.
Located on the Fort Davis Hwy., we are just minutes away from downtown Alpine, Sul Ross University, restaurants, and shopping, including boutique art galleries and gift shops. Alpine is the gateway to Big Bend National Park, along with historic mining towns such as Terlingua(famous for its annual Chili Cookoff) and the bordertown of Lajitas with its championship golf course. To the west of Alpine is Marfa, filled with many historic buildings and a growing art community. In between Alpine and Marfa is the famous Marfa Lights visitors' center. North on the Fort Davis Hwy., along the Texas Mountain Trail, is the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute, which features native plants of the Chihuahuan Desert located in a gorgeous canyon setting. Further down the road is the historic town of Fort Davis, just 20 minutes from us. While there, you can explore the actual Fort Davis, which is a National Historic Site. Fort Davis is filled with charming shops and restaurants that add to its Western flair. A little further up the road is the McDonald Observatory, where you can attend their famous Star Parties, or just take a tour. The Fort Davis Highway is used by both bicyclists and motorcyclists as a year-round scenic ride. There are so many activities to enjoy in this area, and we are located right in the heart of it all.
