Our new cottage is in the middle of a working vineyard and has one of the most scenic views in Napa Valley. We are a few minutes from downtown Calistoga, and wineries are steps away from your door. Enjoy the hot tub with a view and catch a glimpse of a hot air balloon at the same time. Cozy up near the fireplace on a winter day. Cook as much or as little as you like with our fully stocked brand new kitchen, or BBQ on the grill. Relax and enjoy with all the modern conveniences. It is good for couples, business travelers, and small families.

Calistoga has been my dream place to live since I was a little girl visiting on the weekends with my parents. I look forward to sharing this special place with our guests.
Ellen purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Ellen chose Calistoga
This property has one of the most amazing views of St. Helena Mountain and the Palisades. The red glow on the Palisades is gorgeous at dusk. I knew I wanted to live on this property the first time I visited, and it was an amazing winter sunset in December that hooked me;-) I love the farming and of course the wine that is made...I have learned the meaning of patience, waiting for the fruit of our labor. It has been worth it!
What makes this Cottage unique
This special property feels far away, yet it is only minutes from main street in Calistoga. We are close to restaurants, wineries and spas, not to mention the hiking trails and swimming pools.

Great property and location.
Ellen has everything available that one might need. The home is clean and relaxing. Love the morning views of the vines and hills from the bed and dining area.
Truly our pleasure to host you, Jeff.
Beautiful property... but could use more accurate description
We had a great stay in Ellen’s cottage. It’s wonderfully updated with a unbelieveable view of a vineyard and mountains. You’re an arms reach from grapes!
However, my only gripe is I wish that it was made made more clear that the cottage is actually a finished garage about 10 feet from the main house. (The only place I saw this information was buried in another review.) There is some privacy via a lattice fence and blinds, but not what I had expected based on the description and pictures.
All in all, still a great stay. Just wish I had my expectations in check prior to booking. Will still likely return and recommend to others.
Lovely comfortable rental nestled in a small private vineyard in Calistoga
We loved it here. The home was relaxing, bed and bedding were super comfortable and very clean. Everything was so tasefully decorated and seemed almost brand new. I would highly recommend this rental. Located on the very north side of Napa so need to plan out how to visit wineries safely (Uber, wine tour bus, etc...). Town of Calistoga has a great grocery store with amazing wine/cheese/fresh produce to choose from so easy to cook a lovely meal at home at night vs going out. They have a indoor/outdoor George Forman grill that did the trick for our bbq needs.
A few suggestions for owner; ensure the hot tub is set on a tolerable heat level (it was 109 when we attempted to use it ~ ouch), have a few more pots and pans for cooking (possibly a wok and the desperately needed bigger pans), a pair of tongs and measuring cups would help those who want to cook/bbq. Also, possibly supply a few zip lock bags and pieces of foil to keep open food sealed (hate to buy all that for a few days visit). A small set of Tupperware containers would do the trick as well. Lastly, possibly leave a few instructions for stay, like WiFi password, local restaurant guild, and departure instructions. Other than that, this place is a gem. The sweet cat was also a plus ~ always hung out with us but never went inside the rental.
Comfortable and Relaxing!
We loved our relaxing time at the cottage in Calistoga! After wine tasting and having lunch, we were able to easily check into the cottage. The property was spotless with plenty of linens and kitchens supplies. Looking over the vineyard with a glass of wine and then enjoying the hot tub was exactly what we were looking forward to on vacation. We slept great with the cool fresh air in the evening and then tuned on the fireplace in the morning to get the chill out. We will definitely stay here again!
Well appointed, but not as private as I would have liked
The cottage, as you can see from the pictures has nice furnishings. Its a one room studio (with a 3/4 wall around the bedroom). The kitchen is nice with new appliances. The bathroom is nicely designed. All the furniture feels new or really well maintained.
My main complaint is that the profile pictures mask the reality of the surroundings - it looks secluded, but it is not. The 'cottage' is really a remodeled garage. It is attached to the main house and the picture window in the kitchen/dining room looks right into the Main house's yard and side door - it felt like being in a fishbowl (I kept the shade closed the whole time I stayed there). The windows all long the front face onto the main houses driveway, but those don't have shades, so no privacy option on that front - people coming and going can see into the entire space. And the back 'private area' is separated from the main house by a see through lattice fence. And, while the vineyard is a beautiful back drop, it is a working vineyard, so I had a worker wandering around right next to my 'private space.' I was looking for a secluded couple of days to do some writing, and this place didn't fit that bill.
If you are looking for seclusion - this is not the place for you. If you want a well appointed studio, very close to Calistoga, and don't mind the lack of privacy, then you will likely love this place.
Charming setting close to downtown Calistoga. Host learning handling of emergency situations.
Ellen is a very pleasant prompt and attentive host. She has outfitted her place very tastefully and comfortably.
We stayed on a hot weekend, PG&E had forced shut off electricity for 3 hours. Since water is pumped from a well, there was no water: Ellen promptly sent us to her spa and arranged for us to be there.
Afterward the electric fireplace auto switched on so we ended up in a hot house. It was at this stage that she did not know how to handle the situation. I ended up doing online searches, called her back and managed to get the main for the fireplace turned off. Ellen’s response was to open all the windows to cool us down, and left remarking that we would be safe.
That is not the case where a fireplace is on auto pilot, it is actually a fire hazard.
She was most apologetic about this, and explained her inexperience with this type of situation. I understand where she came from but I have to admit it was quite unsettling to be left to deal with this with my resources.
I do appreciate her apology and gift of wine to make up for it. I just feel that’s landlord of any type needs to recognize emergency situations and know how to handle them well.
She even offered to refund a nights stay; I declined since we eventually fixed the problem and stayed the night with the furnace turned off.
So while the place is super comfortable , for me , safety trumps comfort.... hence the 3 stars.
