Joy and I grew up in Kenyon, Mn and still reside there. We wanted to invest in property in northern minnesota so when retirement came, we would have a place to relax and be on the water. We enjoy spending time with friends and family at the cabin still, but thought others would experience the same enjoyment.
Troy Estrem purchased this cabin in 2004
This property is uniquely located away from other vacation homes so when staying here you will experience nature in it's fullest. We have vacationed in this area since the mid 1980's and liked what it had to offer. Shortly after that, friends of ours, which we vacationed with, bought property and built a cabin of their own which we stayed in. During the next 10 years we thought it would be a good idea to find our own property and build also. So the property hunting began. In 2002 we closed on this property just across the bay from our friends. After recieving all the proper permits, we starting building in the fall of 2003. It took many trips up there but in August of 2004 we were done.
You are welcome to bring your own boat and tie up to the dock.
When you walk into the cabin, you will instantly know you are in the north woods. The interior of this cabin is covered with locally grown, harvested and milled tongue and groove. For you people that like to fish, you have access to 8 different lakes which gives endless places to locate your preferred species. Kitchi is known for good early walleye fishing. Fish to target on Kitichi would be Walleye, Northern, Bluegills, Crappies, Bass, Muskies and Perch.
This is a beautiful lake home. We had a great time fishing, with being able to connect to so many lakes. Troy and Joy were very nice to work with. And the managers Gary and Judy were very nice. We would just text Gary if we had fish remains, and he would come and dispose of them. This worked out very well for us. I would hope to be able to stay again!
Very nice cabin, well maintained property and a quiet place to relax on vacation. The cabin has all the amenities of home and the dock is nice for tying up the boat when your not out fishing our taking in the sights.
Great location. Slept 4 men comfortably. Lots of room for cooking and socializing.
Fishing was excellent. Crappies right under the dock. Walleyes were biting too.
The cabin was beautiful, very clean, and had everything we needed for a great weekend. The layout accomodated our family of 8 nicely. You will want to bring your boat or rent one from one of the nearby resorts so you can swim and explore the lakes. Troy was extremely helpful, which allowed us to pull off a fairly spontaneous weekend away. The managers, Gary and Judy, were very welcoming and gave good information about the surrounding area.
Great cabin in a lovely secluded setting, beautifully clean and had everything you could need. Special thank you to the managers, Gary and Judy, who went out of their way to make us welcome and give us advice on the area.
