About Kristine Becker

We bought this property 18 years ago because of its amazing surroundings. Rolling hills and three ponds will make you want to stay home. The acreage is beautiful anytime of year. It's accessibility to EVERYTHING in the area within 30 minutes, yet coming home brings you total solitude. We hope you'll enjoy all this home and its grounds have to offer as much as we do with our family and friends.

Kristine Becker purchased this estate in 1998

Why Kristine Becker chose Edwardsville

Kansas City has so much to offer from the nations best restaurants and entertainment to NASCAR, NFL and MLB! Our home is central to it all. We love taking advantage of everything KC has to offer while pulling into our lane brings us back to a place all our own. Experience everything a vacation should offer from excitement to solitude all in one place. Our home is spectacular yet casual. Winding down takes no time and there is plenty of space to find your own little oasis.

What makes this estate unique

You won't find a more luxurious yet comfortable and casual environment anywhere else in town. The views are amazing and the quite acreage brings families together. Even though the home is beautiful, its the times outside that our family enjoys the most. We love our mornings on the deck and the evenings on the patio. Clients will love the opportunity to have their own space, while being so close to NASCAR, Sporting KC Soccer, golf, Royals or Chiefs. Experience great restaurants, two BBQ joints just 1 mile away, or just relax on the patio with the grill.

Perfect Setting for Cousin Reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We cousins gathered from close-by (North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Kansas) and from farther afield (New York, Florida, and Hawaii) to share time together, as we do annually. As an outlaw, hosting this reunion for the first time since the death of my husband, I was ill-at-ease. But everyone LOVED this vrbo--finding its setting, inside and out, absolutely PERFECT!!! In fact, the morning we were to leave, there were regrets that our time at the house was over, and desires were expressed to return someday in the not-too-distant future. The house provides large and more intimate spaces for private or general conversations and has roomy, comfortable bedrooms, each with its own bath; the kitchen is well-supplied with equipment and with condiments, paper products, and other materials to make one's stay easy so much easier; and the house is furnished with beautiful antiques and family mementos that helped us feel that we were being entertained by friends in their home! I personally stayed in the Beckers' daughter Ruby's room (thank you, Ruby, for letting me stay there!), where the Winnie-the-Pooh quotation on the wall seemed to summarize our experience of family. (I have since sent that quote to my children and grandchildren as I recounted for them our experiences at this vrbo.) Kristine, the owner, was most gracious and efficient in answering all questions that arose beforehand; and she was there to greet me and give me a tour of the entire house the day we were scheduled to arrive. We enjoyed sitting outdoors on the patios or swinging in the hammock, talking to the cats, and feeding the horses treats. (Kristine took the dogs with her.) The birds came to the feeders, and their songs filled the air. The pond and boats made fishing possible (though none of our number actually went). Our outings took us abroad during a portion of each day, so we ate our main meals in restaurants. However, we did eat breakfast and supper and enjoyed treats around the dining-room table, where rich conversations took place, as they did in the two living rooms. Why, we old people even enjoyed moments of singing old tunes to the accompaniment of a ukelele!!! I am so glad that I "discovered" this house on the web. Here we made wonderful additions to our "family museum of memories." I thank Kristine and her family for moving out and letting us into their lovely home--and for all the special touches and acts of kindness that made us feel like honored guests!!!

Owner's Response: Judi, thank you so much for the kind review of your stay with us, we're so delighted you found our home and surroundings so inviting and comfortable. We do all we can to make you feel like "honored guests"!! It really is a beautiful environment to relax and enjoy family and friends, whether inside or out. Too bad you didn't make it out into the boats on the pond, the bass this year have just been outrageous! But, just relaxing on the pond's park bench or sitting on the patio, listening and watching the birds is just as rewarding. Ruby is always excited to share her space and you're lucky she wasn't giving the tour as it would have taken 30 minutes just to get out of her room! Kristine makes every experience an easy one and we're so happy you found yout first experience, after your husbands passing, to be an enjoyable one. Staying at the ranch really is all about the memories! The best thing about it is you and your family are welcome back any time! You took immaculate care of our home, and we appreciate that very much. Levi, Daffy and all the cats already miss your spoiling, so come back and see us again soon! Safe travels, C&K

Family union

  • 5 of 5

This was a very special place for our family to come together! Each of our group had private bathrooms, and many rooms to chat, laugh, and get to spend time together. The kitchen was well stocked, and easy to cook in. The owners were super, and very welcoming to us. They provided much appreciated information on the area, and were able to quickly get back to us if we had any questions. The property is beautiful! It couldn't have been better.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for such a positive review! We certainly strive to provide that "special place" for all of our guests. Most of our reviews point out the layout of our home and how accommodating it is to large groups, with each corner bringing a new dimension to the space and your stay. Being right in the middle of all the action KC has to offer, our location is stellar, we're so glad you found so much to do within miles of the ranch. Kristine gets credit for the guest care that goes into each of our rentals. Making your stay memorable and comfortable is our greatest priority. You came at a perfect time for the ranch. The blackberries were in perfect ripeness, the fish were biting and the hay was just ready to harvest. We actually cut hay the day you left! Thanks again for becoming part of the "family. We look forward to hosting you and your family again soon. Safe travels, C&K

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind review Ellen, we certainly enjoyed having your family with us to celebrate your sisters 80th! I know you all enjoyed the large dining room for your big celebratory dinner, nice to have the entire family together. I don't know what we're going to do now to keep the horses as happy as you all made them. You really spoiled them! You and your family were wonderful guests and we certainly appreciate the care and attention you gave to our home. I know you asked about future dates and we'd be thrilled to have you back. Have a great summer and we'll look forward to hosting you again soon. Safe travels, C&K

Reunion Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Our group of college friends have come together more than 20 times over the past 50 years but this past weekend was by far the most perfect setting we've ever had! The house is beautiful and comfortable and has all sorts of gathering places for the whole group or for more private, intimate conversations. Walking on the grounds was peaceful and gorgeous - even the noise of the trains was joyous. The location was great for outings to both Lawrence and Kansas City but there really wasn't a great desire to leave the beautiful home. The kitchen was perfect for our needs and the hosts could not have been more accommodating. We loved it!

Perfect Family Get-away

  • 5 of 5

What a great time our family had this past week-end at this home! Our group consisted of four couples and four small children and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house offered so many amenities!! TV, games, toys, wifi, grill, to name only a few. The children were very excited to "feed" the horses. The owners were very responsive to our needs and made us feel quite at home. The property is absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for a lovely week-end!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind words Jill. We enjoyed sharing our home with you and your family. It's always great to hear how comfortable our home is for large groups. We always hear how nice it is to have the space to "Be Together" but also have the space to "find a corner" when necessary! Dixie and Levi are happier than the children when it comes to treat time. And, you were here during our pear tree bearing huge pears; nothing makes them happier than having pear juice running down their chins! Kristine does a fantastic job of keeping our guests informed, engaged and happy throughout their stay. Glad you found our service to be "guest first". We look forward to hosting you and your family again soon. In the meantime, safe travels. Thanks again C&K

WE LOVED IT!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at this home. It really had everything we needed. I felt our hosts were very kind. They gave us a tour with instructions, as well as written instructions, and were available to us by text if we needed anything! It is a beautiful property and perfect for multiple families coming together. We felt very relaxed and welcome in this home. We were able to experience nature, but yet we were 10 minutes away from grocery stores, restaurants, Schlitterbaun, etc. Also, very close to Union Station, Science City, etc. The only thing I would have changed would be a small mowed path to the creek from the backyard. The path to the pond was perfect. I did not feel comfortable trying to get to the creek in shorts, so we didn't get to experience the creek. We definitely would have needed jeans and boots or tennis shoes to get back there. We highly recommend this property!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review Crystal! We really enjoyed having you and your sister's families with us. We're happy you found our home so inviting even for its size, it has a really comfortable, lived in feel to it. And, yes, the location is just one more reason the property is so amazing and accessible. Being just 20 minutes from almost every corner of KC and having restaurants, shopping and groceries no more than 5 minutes away makes for an easy stay. Thanks for your input on the property! Glad you and the kids were able to use the paddle boat and John boat at the front pond. Unfortunately, we do also operate a commercial hay operation so, for about 60 days, we don't mow the path to the back pond or creek. This would compromise our haying. Just yesterday, 8/3/16, we cut our hay so we now have all 40 acres looking like a golf course! We'd love for you to come back and we'll give you a guided tour of the creek, hopefully we'll be lucky enough to find some of those arrowheads I told you about. Thanks again for being here and for taking such good care of our home. Come on back to the ranch any time. Safe travels, C&K

This property is perfectly located. Just 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City where you'll find some of the nations best restaurants, bars and entertainment, The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, The Country Club Plaza, The KC Zoo, KC Chiefs and Royals Stadiums and many other activities. We're just 4 miles from the Kansas Speedway, Schlitterbahn Water Park, The Legends Shopping Mall, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Cabela's, Hollywood Casino, and the Sporting KC Soccer Stadium. We even have two of the best KC BBQ 'joints' at the end of our road! But, were also a beautiful 7,000 sq. ft. estate home on 40 acres of seclusion, away from it all, surrounded by beautiful woods and pasture with three ponds; one has great large mouth bass, hybrid bluegill and catfish fishing. Hike our property, fish or go boating, try arrowhead hunting in the creek or just create your own relaxation time on our large deck overlooking the fishing pond or the 1,600 sq.ft. patio with numerous resting spots, grills and fire pit. You can even feed the horses! Golf is 15 minutes away with over 5 courses to choose from. You won't find a better spot in Kansas City for your corporate retreat, client sponsor trips for NASCAR or that family vacation.
