About Alison & Stuart Chambers

We are a mature couple with 3 grown up children and a lovely Grandson. This photo is of our daughter Laura and Alison at Laura's Graduation at St.Andrews university in 2016. We like to travel and have used Homeaway and owners direct to book some lovely accommodation in France, Spain and Italy. Alison like's to play badminton, swim and when on holiday kayak, Stuart love's golf, football and sailing.

Why Alison & Stuart Chambers chose Edinburgh.

Back in 2008 we purchased this property for our eldest son to use while studying at Edinburgh university. In 2010 we decided to share it with holiday makers wanting to make the most of its location.

It is so close to the city center and yet is in a nice quiet neighbourhood, it has a lovely spacious sunny sitting room with large windows looking out to views of Arthur's seat, the Scottish Parliament and Calton Hill. The separate dining kitchen is sunny in the mornings and afternoon and we were most impressed with the two large bedrooms. The addition of the off road car park made it perfect for both our family and guests alike.

Within 2 minutes walk you can visit Holyrood House (Queens Edinburgh Residence) or relax in Holyrood park, Climb Arthur's Seat or start the walk to Edinburgh castle up the Royal mile.

Our guests all comment on the Fantastic location, so near to all Edinburgh has to offer, shops, museums, Theater's, bars and restaurants, plus it's within a very short walking distance to public transport.

Had a fab weekend didnt win rugby but great atmosphere

Couldn't fault accommodation decorating lovely ,very clean and comfortable. Alison very helpful sent all information we needed and more , and we arrived to warm accommodation and bread, milk, juice and,delicious biscuits 😊😊also many more essentials . Top accommodation would definitely recommend

Great location and amenities

We found 'Holyrood Maisonette' a wonderful place to stay over Christmas up to the New Year. The flat itself was well equipped with everything we needed, as well as being clean, comfortable, toasty warm and spacious. Maybe it was due to the time of year, but the whole apartment complex that the flat was part of was very quiet. It was lovely to be so close to Holyrood Park and the beginning of the Royal Mile, and we found it very easy to just walk to everything we wanted to see and everywhere we needed to go. Our stay in Edinburgh was great fun and memorable, and staying at Holyrood Maisonette added to the enjoyment. We even awoke to a snow flurry on Boxing Day and thoroughly enjoyed walking over to Salisbury Crags (although had to walk gingerly on the slippery footpaths) and the snow-sprinkled hills and views over Edinburgh.

We went on two trips during our stay, and walked easily to the Waterloo Place bus-stop for our wee red bus to take us on our 'Heart of Scotland' tours to St. Andrew's & the fishing villages of Fife, and the two night Highlands & the Isle of Skye tour.

We met up with friends and had a lovely Christmas lunch at the 'Bread St. Brasserie,' part of the Hilton, and also enjoyed lunch other days at 'The Mussel Inn' & 'Maison Bleue,' and dinner at 'The Mitre Bar' & 'Golden Ambal' Indian restaurant on Leith Walk.

The hosts at 'Holyrood Maisonette' couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and obliging throughout all aspects of our booking.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here when in Edinburgh.

Wonderful Edinburgh apartment!!

What a wonderful place to stay while in Edinburgh. Alison was a terrific host and made us fell so welcome. She answered our many questions, and even arranged for transportation from the airport to the flat. She met us there and explained how everything worked which was a great help. Things worked different than at home so it made things much easier. She even provided some essentials in the kitchen to get us started. What a wonderful surprise after a day of travel. The flat is in a perfect location right at the bottom of the Royal Mile and within easy walking distance of many of the sights and attractions. We were traveling with our grownup daughters and there was plenty of room to spread out. Next time we visit Edinburgh, we'll be booking Alison's place.

Excellent location in Edinburgh

This flat was in the perfect location! At the eastern end of the Royal Mile such that you are away from the crowds and noise at night but an easy walk to everything Edinburgh has to offer. You are right across the street from Holyrood and Arthur's seat and 15-20 min from the Castle. The layout of the flat is great in that the bedrooms are upstairs and the den and kitchen are down so that getting up early or going to bed late wont bother others. We used the kitchen several times and the washing machine was both easy to use and a big convenience. Allison set us up with many staples to start so we didn't have to go to the grocery store immediately. I would definitely recommend staying here and if you have a car you will have a great parking space included!

Awesome stay for our family! Perfect place!

Our family of four spent three nights in this lovely 2 story apartment in Edinburgh. It was loads of space and had everything we needed to feel right at home right away!

Alison was the sweetest most gracious hostess! She gave us the tour of the place and showed us how everything worked/where everything was. She even left us with some basics like milk, bread and delicious shortbread to get us started before we went to the market to stock up. There were many tour books in the living room even coupons for restaurants down the road. Great Wi-Fi. Alison even provided us with a chess set when we requested one for the kids. The place was super clean and well cared for. It was very quiet-we loved that! No neighbor noises or partiers. I know this is where we will stay again when we return to Edinburgh! I have already told my family and friends that this is the place to stay! We were out all day and came home late down the Royal Mile right to the apartment with no issues. It is walking distance from restaurants, merchants and more. It is right next to Holyrood Palace and we were able to hear the bagpipers when the Queen was visiting! It sounded as if they were right outside our windows-it was beautiful and such a treat! Fantastic place to stay in a fantastic city! Thanks Alison! (Want to mention-this is not the place if you have trouble with stairs/have very limited mobility as there are stairs up to the apartment and inside the apartment.)

Located in the Old Town of Edinburgh are the Queens official residence (Holyrood House), the city's main park Holyrood Park incl Arthur's Seat, Scottish Parliament, Dynamic Earth, The Royal Mile & Edinburgh Castle.

Less than a 15 min walk away are Princes St, Rose St (which has many of the city's top restaurants and bars), Playhouse Theatre, National Museum of Scotland, National Gallery of Scotland and many more places of interest. The Omni centre complex with multi-screen cinema, bars and restaurants is again no more than a 15min walk.

Beaches of East Lothian are within a 30 min drive and there are numerous (30+) golf courses within a 20 mile radius including several municipal pay and play. For the ultimate test St Andrews (90 mins) and Gleneagles (60mins) are within easy reach.
