Albamar (adjacent Miraflores) is an exclusive urbanization which lies between Malaga (20 min drive) and Marbella (10 min drive) close to Riviera del Sol urbanization. The name of the resort means “Look at the flowers” in Spanish; and the resort is full of beautiful gardens, waterfalls and streams to enjoy. The villas are beautifully designed and reflect the typical whitewashed houses of a traditional Spanish village. Taxi rank and bus stop is nearby (500m distance), offering easy access to Marbella, Puerto Banus, Fuengirola, Benalmadena and Malaga Airport).

The stylish duplex penthouse, suited for 4-6 persons, is centrally located in a gated community, with commanding and spectacular views towards tropical gardens, several pools, and a private pool club/bar. It faces south to the Mediterranean Sea as well as south-west.

The penthouse is on two levels (with the indoor accommodation on both levels). It features 2 full bedrooms, 1 and ½ bath with sun beds and patio furniture that offers breathtaking views

Eating out and night life: Miraflores boasts several eateries within the resort. You can opt for some traditional Spanish dishes or partake in some well love international cuisine from countries such as Britain, France, Mexico, India and Italy.

The Aztec Club – Italian Restaurant – American Burger

George’s Bar- Drinks - Food

David’s Bar – Entertainment (Booze)

La Terrazza – Italian Restaurant – excellent.

Miraflore’s Golf Restaurant – Excellent – traditional Spanish – very classy.

Sol y Sombre ( Antonio’s Bar) – great with kids - good food – good price (David Beckham’s local Bar)

Many of the restaurants have live entertainment to keep you occupied whilst you eat your meal. They are all open till late Calahonda also has a fine selection of cafés and restaurants.

Evenings in the Miraflores resort are a quiet affair with visitors enjoying a bite to eat and some laid on entertainment. If you are looking for a more vibrant night out, Calahonda has several nightclubs, bars and discos.

Local atractions: The Aztec Centre is a 6 minute walk from the apartment and is in the heart of Riviera del Sol. The Centre features a sporting complex with very good facilities. Olympic sized swimming pool, 7 tennis courts, badminton courts, mini golf and a gymnasium, not to mention the beauty salon/hairdressers and physiotherapist. It is open to non residents and provides not only excellent reasonable priced food, but evening entertainment for all ages. A newly constructed and state of the art internet centre and games room caters for all ages.

Cabopino with fabulous beaches, marina and a dozen lovely restaurants and bars is a 5 minute drive. This is where “El Dorado” was filmed.

Mijas, a little white washed village with lots of arts and craft shops and the most amazing views of the coastline is 20mins by car. A tax free shopping trip and to see the infamous monkeys, Gibraltar is only a 30 min drive away. The Alhambra Palace in Granada is 1hr 15 min drive, Cordoba – 2 hours, Sevilla – 2,5 hours

Horse racing: Horse racing is a huge added attraction to the Costa del Sol's favourite holiday destination. The Hippodrome Costa del Sol has two tracks, with floodlighting for night racing, and a grandstand accommodating 5000 spectators; in addition we have track side seating for a further 5000.

The prize money is the highest in Spain and the season lasts throughout the winter months when most other tracks are closed. Our racing season is October to May.

The Hippodrome is only twenty minutes from Malaga International Airport and within easy reach of beaches, hotels and golf courses of Mijas and La Cala.

About Mirela Matache

I live in Canada with my husband and our 2 sons. We have spent part of our summer holidays in Europe since 1991.

Spain is always a milestone on our schedule, we always come back to our first 'love' and it did not fade away as the years went by.

Sea - wise, we have seen and enjoyed from the white Caribbean Islands beaches to Cote d'Azur or Italian Riviera... but Costa del Sol has it all, sun and memories within reach. This made us buy a property in the area.

The 2 duplex penthouse units are centrally located in a gated community in Albamar Urbanization (adjacent to Miraflores), with commanding and spectacular views towards tropical gardens, 3 pools, and a private Club/Bar.They face South respectively South-East, towards the Mediterranean Sea, day or night, all a thrill to watch it. When clear skies, one may enjoy from the apartment terraces, Morocco mountains and Gibraltar "rock", bordering the horizon.

There are many good quality apartments in Mijas Costa but one can hardly find under one "roof": great location, amenities, mature gardens, well maintained/secured complex and amazing sea views.

Lovely, spacious apartment with stunning sea and mountain views

We had a wonderful week in the apartment. The location is great - easily accessible from Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport by car; quiet and peaceful, with stunning views of the mountains and the sea; close enough to all the amenities that you could need and about 20 minutes walk to the beach.

The gardens within the complex are beautifully maintained and there are 3 large, clean swimming pools and a pool bar. Even in October the weather was perfect for using the outdoor facilities, with not a cloud in the sky and hitting about 25 to 27 degrees every day!

The apartment is clean, comfortably furnished and well equipped (the kitchen has good equipment compared to many holiday apartments we have visited), the beds are comfortable and we especially appreciated being able to step out on to the large, sunny terrace from both the living room and the main bedroom. We didn't need to use it in early October, but all areas of the apartment are air conditioned.

There are 3 small supermarkets and several bars and restaurants within walking distance; all the facilities in Marbella and Fuengirola, plus two shopping centres and large Carrefour and Alcampo hypermarkets are within a short drive. We easily reached the beautiful city centre of Malaga by taking the Cercanias train from Torreblanca. Nearer to the apartment you can escape the coast to visit whitewashed villages in the mountains and would particularly recommend the (somewhat terrifying, in places, but very spectacular!) drive to the historic village Castellar de la Frontera, for amazing views of southern Andalusia and the rock of Gibraltar. Perhaps my only negative comment would be that a few of the tourist attractions seemed to have closed on the 30th September, but there was still more than enough going on to easily fill a week.

Despite being far away, Mirela and Gabriel made us feel really welcome and were readily contactable before and throughout the stay with helpful information and suggestions. As we return to the cold, grey, winter skies of the UK I really hope that one day we'll have a chance to visit again!

Brilliant located apartment

Having booked this property directly with Mirela I found the process very easy. She constantly kept in communication with me about everything. She sent me local information which was great and helpful. The directions were eady to follow from the airport.

Once at the property we were met by the maid who showed us around before handing over the keys. This was a great help.

We weren't disappointed at all with the property. The views from both terraces was excellent over the coast. The accomadation itself had everything needed for an enjoyable stay. The only point of note is the steep stairway from the lower level livingroom up to the 2nd bedroom. Some less able people may find this awkward.

We had a fantastic weeks stay. The air conditioning was a godsend.

Only a 2 minute walk away are a well stocked cheap supermarket as well as a number of really good restaurants. We ate at a few of these.

I feel that a hire car is essential to make the best use of visiting this lovely area of Andalucia.

Absolutely great

A very nice apartment with a fantastic view! Nice and clean with everything we needed with 4 kids. Perfect aerea with pools, and both restaurants and supermarkets nearby. We hope to come back next year, and have allready told family and friends to go too:-)

Amazing view from the terrace

Lovely and nice apartment with amazing view of the terrace. Very quiet area and good swimmingpools - close to supermarked and good restaurant. We will recommend the apartment to friends and family and I am sure that we will come back again in the future. Mirela and Gabriel were very informative and were very helpfull with everything.

Brilliant Apartment

We stayed at the apartment for 12 days and loved every minute of it.

The view from the Penthouse apartment is amazing.

The apartment is of a very high standard and is spotlessly clean throughout and is a credit to the owners and the lovely cleaning lady.

Well equipped kitchen, washing machine etc, and includes an iron and ironing board too which are housed in the bedroom cupboard.

The apartment has air con in the bedrooms and the main living area.

very fast Wifi, Digital TV, (includes UK terrestrial TV stations). This all makes for very comfortable accommodation.

There is a large balcony also supported by a wonderful sun lounge area upstairs access from the balcony.

The friendly owners, Mirela and Gabriel, provided excellent information from start to finish. This includes detailed directions form the airport, advice on car hire companies, and ideas of where to visit.

Their after care continues upon leaving the apartment too.

Everything about this was excellent.

Love it!

It's our second time staying in this apartment as a family of four with (14 and 13 year olds). We feel so relaxed here and feels like home from home but with a better view! Weather was fantastic and the sun on the terrace from morning until early evening is beautiful. You have everything close by within walking distance - supermarket, bars, restaurants, public transport and taxi rank. The apartment is clean and well equipped with everything you need. Good wifi connection and can be picked up by one of the 3 poolsides. The main pool was being redeveloped whilst we were there but wasn't a problem as one pool was open and given the time of year we were more than happy with this. The roof terrace has two sun loungers which is great to catch the last of the sun! Mirela and Gabriel are always quick to reply to emails and are very accommodating with lots of information if needed. We are familiar with the area but if you are not, Gabriel will give you plenty of recommendations and advice. The friendly cleaner met us and we were given two sets of keys which is very handy as the complex is gated (secure) you need these to leave the complex and enter. We will book again - probably last minute as we do! Thank you Mirela and Gabriel for sharing your gorgeous apartment:)

Albamar (adjacent Miraflores), one of the most beautiful private resorts from the South of Spain, located a few km away from Marbella, toeing in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, looking towards the mountains of Morocco.

Trips to (Granada, Gibraltar, Mijas, Ronda) may be booked from Miraflores reception. The Alhambra Palace in Granada is 1hr 15 min. drive, Cordoba – 2 hours, Sevilla – 2 hours and 30 min.

Golfers will absolutely love this resort as it boasts a splendid 18 whole golf course. Other sporting facilities available include tennis, bowling, swimming, horse riding, go carting, jet skiing and sailing.

Golf: Mijas Costa has 4 other Golf Courses; El Chaparral Golf course at La Cala De Mijas, La Cala golf, Santana Golf and Mijas Golf Course which boasts two 18 holes courses. Los Lagos is a mainly flat course with wide fairways and fast small greens, suitable for the more demanding players.
