This private 3-bedroom traditional side-hall is in a quiet neighborhood about 3 miles from the French Quarter. It is located in the historic Touro neighborhood, between Magazine and Tchoupitoulas near Louisiana St.

The home is spacious and fully equipped, with central heat and air, refinished hardwood floors, and many other traditional charming features of New Orleans. Including private fenced in parking.

Why Marco Nelson chose Central City/Garden District

After living in New Orleans we quickly realized that the Uptown, Garden District area was the best place to be to enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer and still get the traditional southern neighborhood experience. Our home is over 100 years old and so are most of the homes in the neighborhood, so you get to stay in one of the homes most people take a tour from downtown to come look at.

Good amount of personal space and a short distance from the action

We reserved this property due to the limited amount of space we have at our personal home for a extended family Christmas visit. With family coming and going each day, there was enough space for two kids ( 1 and 3), and six adults to be in the house and not on top of each other.

Location: The house is a few blocks from Magazine street and about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile from some good resturants and bars within the Garden District and uptown area. The house is a short distance from St. Charles Street (recommend driving and parking for free on a side street) where you can catch a trolley to the French Quarter ( $1.75 per ticket with exact change or $3 all day pass).

Space: As mentored before the house is roomy. The master bedroom has a huge bathroom connected to it, and the second bathroom is located in the hallway, which is also a good size. The kitchen is big enough to cook and seat 8 people. The backyard has a nice size patio set with a grill located in the sideyard. We were able to park one full size car and two medium size SUVs.

Owner: Marco did a great job of answering all of our questions and addressing any issue that arise during our stay.

I highly recommend this place if you have a large group and don't mind driving or using public transportation to get around.

Resting in NOLA

Overall a nice base for a NOLA stay:

Great Location, with an overall positive first impression of outside and inside, (other than the power line crackling nearby)

Has what it takes to accommodate 8 people -even if in a rustic mode for bedroom with limited clothes storage, nor bed frames -

Internet access/speed need to be improved

Great Place!!

This place was much larger than I expected! The home owner provided coffee, which was a nice touch. It was only a few blocks from Magazine Street and had access to several Uber cars. I would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay close to Magazine Street

Our group of 6 (3 couples) stayed here for almost the entire first week of November 2015.

We had a great time exploring New Orleans and this was a good space and size for us.

Pros:

-This house is mere blocks from restaurants, stores and bars. We walked up and down Magazine Street, which has a great vibe and lots to do.

-We bought multi-day transit passes (it's $3 for a 24 hour pass) so we could get further around town by bus or streetcar (like Bourbon Street or the WW2 museum).

-Easy to use lockbox so each couple could come/go without needing keys.

-There are plenty of towels, but no toiletries so bring your own shampoo and soap.

-The house was clean and there were K-cups for coffee in the morning!

Cons (but not really, just observations):

-I wish we had had a chance to meet Marco, but we never saw him when we were there.

-The beds were not very comfortable. Also, the first bedroom with pallets as a headboard is not 'finished' so if you like to stretch out in bed, you'll get splinters.

-Tip: If you're in the front bathroom shower and someone in the house flushes the toilet or is using the other shower, be careful because you will get an icy cold shock. I think it's an older home trait so no worries.

-The wi-fi is not very strong throughout the house.

The rental and communication leading up to our trip was easy.

Overall, I would recommend this house if you're traveling to New Orleans!

Beautiful home and a great time!

This was such a great find close to Magazine street. Great local restaurants, bars and shopping nearby, but if you wanted to get into the Quarter or explore more of the city, public transportation is definitely the way to go. The house was a lot larger than we expected and was a great fit for our group of 8. Thanks again, Marco and Justine!

This private 3-bedroom traditional side-hall is in a quiet neighborhood about 3 miles from the French Quarter. It is located in the historic Touro neighborhood, between Magazine and Tchoupitoulas near Louisiana St.

It is a short walk, (just 4 blocks), to the Magazine street shopping district, where there are numerous restaurants, bars, antique stores, and boutique shops.

Nearby restaurants include Atchafalaya (upscale cajun/steak cuisine), The Rum House (Caribbean), The Pettite Grocery (French Cajun), Rue de la Course (local coffee shop), The Bulldog (pub), and La Divina Gelateria and Cafe (locally made gelato, sorbetto and sandwiches) are a few of the choices. The Magazine street bus runs 24 hours and will take you straight to the French Quarter. A few more blocks brings you to the scenic St. Charles streetcar line.
