Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage, sleeps 6, with stunning sea and island views

Tigh an Uillt enjoys wonderful uninterrupted views over the sea and the Summer Isles. 2 double bedrooms are upstairs together with a shower room and a further double bedroom is on the ground floor and leads into the second bathroom.

The good sized kitchen is very well equipped and has an oil fired rayburn which provides central heating to the house.

The sitting room has an open fire (coal is provided). There is also a TV with freeview and DVD player. The sun room/dining room with its wonderful views is the perfect place to gaze out over the islands and across to the mountains or to watch wildlife in the croft below.

The house is set amongst sea, islands, beaches, mountains and lochs in the recently designated National Geo park. In 2009 the area was used as a location for the film 'The Eagle'.

Enjoy the beach, the wildlife, go kayaking, fishing, cycling, walking, climb Stac Pollaidh, or sit in the garden and relax.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs are welcome but do remember that this is a crofting community and sheep run free everywhere. If you think there is any possibility of your dog getting on the furniture then please bring some covers to protect it. Water and food bowls in the cottage.

Shopping: The two village shops in Achiltibuie and Polbain are very well stocked but are both closed on Sundays. Either will provide supplies to await your arrival. There is a Tesco in Ullapool that is open 7 days a week (25 miles away). Ullapool has a good range of shops including a chemist and butcher. There are a number of very large supermarkets in Inverness (Tesco and Morrisons).

Heavenly house and holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in Achiltibuie. The house is idyllic and the views even more so. Beautiful art work and homely touches make this a real home away from home. We stayed out of season and although there wasn't that much open we still entertained ourselves in the breathtaking scenery and enjoyed our visits to Am Furan; the Lochinver Larder; the Ceilidh Place and the Deli in Ullapool . We also had delicious fresh salmon from Achiltibuie Stores.

More than we expected in every sense.

Beautiful cottage with impressive view

  • 5 of 5

Sorry for writing in german language, but our english is not good enough to express as nice it was.

So beautiful....you will adore it

  • 5 of 5

Driving to the property you will immediately feel like you going to a different world... The landscape is breath taking and driving through it it's a joy.

The properly has everything you need and very good layout to enjoy amazing views of the Summer Isles from sun garden and the two bedrooms upstairs. House was immaculate and plenty of space so you will feel like home. Kitchen is great, big with space to socialise and everything you need in it. If you get good weather the garden is lovely to sit and enjoy the views, we also saw a couple of deers that came back for a couple of nights so it was fantastic.

The sunsets are beautiful and we spent hours watching them- so peaceful

The location of the property is very good as a seafood restaurant (which we visit a couple of times, delicious fresh seafood and lovely atmosphere) is just round the corner. Little shop also 5 minutes which has a website so you can have a look what they sell in there. Also a hotel pub/restaurant.

The area is great to visit lovely sandy beaches, mounting walks, bike ride, etc... Also if you feel like exploring a bit further a drive to Durness will allow you to get a good idea of the further north of Scotland.

So if you looking for a relaxing break but more importantly a great place to switch off and enjoy nature, You won't be disappointed.

Thank you Sarah and John, we had a great week.

Excellent Cottage with superb views

  • 5 of 5

we had a great week at the cottage. A beautiful part of the world to visit. Lots of wildlife. There are ever changing views in every direction from the cottage and lots of nice walks close to the house. The drive to Lochinver is stunning. The cottage has everything you need and has been beautifully decorated . Most of all it feels like a home. The gardens are lovely and we enjoyed feeding the birds.Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the cottage or the area.

Lovely house, lovely place, lovely views

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit to the cottage in this beautiful part of the world. The house was great, providing everything we needed for our stay and the owner was extremely helpful with suggesting things to do and places to see. It was always a warm and comfy place to come back to after a day out walking/cycling or simply watching the views which are fantastic without going anywhere. There is plenty to do in the area, that every time we go we seem to run out of time rather than things to do. This time we walked up Stac Pollaidh to see the magnificent views, did some cycling around the quiet local roads, ventured a bit further to see the very windy Stoer Lighthouse, spent some time on a forest walk in Lochinver, and Ardvreck Castle, to name just a few of the things we did. There is of course plenty to see and do in Badenscallie without going anywhere far. We saw seals and a Great Skua at Polglass Beach, a possible otter sighting at Badenscallie Beach, rabbits, deer, small birds and so on.

In terms of eating out, for simple honest and tasty food I would recommend the Piping School Café just up the road which is very good value and is run by a lovely lady. If you prefer to go further afield, the Seaforth in Ullapool or the Lochinver Larder both provide very tasty food prepared with local produce.

I would definitely recommend this house and indeed the whole area to anyone that loves the nature, sea, mountains and relaxed atmosphere that this area provides.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic place all around. Stunning location and views each morning, right outlooking the Summer Isles, house is right on the border of a significant stretch of wilderness while also being close to a small town with a market. House is very well appointed, nice clean and elegant choices in all rooms while still remaining very homey and comfy. The owner (Sarah) is very hospitable and available if needed. A great house and a great location!!

It is a nature lovers paradise with access to wonderful beaches, the sea, and walking in a prehistoric landscape. In 2009 the area was used as a location for the film 'The Eagle'.
