Overview

Description

Quinta do Bouro

This lovely property in divided into a three bedroom villa, a two bedroom house and a one bedroom cottage.

The villa, house and cottage all have there own separate garden areas and also share large grounds and a heated pool with plenty of space to relax and for children to run around.

The traditional renovation of the house and cottage was done in 2008 with solid wood used throughout. The villa was completed in 2015. It is an ideal place to get away from it all and great for extended families or more than one family holidaying together.

The property is well equipped for cooking at home, whether it be inside in the kitchen, or outside on the barbecue.

With such a fantastic property in such a wonderful location, you won't be surprised to hear that we have repeat bookings year after year.

The villa, house and cottage can be rented separately or the whole complex exclusively.

Week away in this beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

An absolutely fantastic stay in this beautiful spot. A family trip away for 5 days. Lovely, comfy and spacious villas that were very accommodating to all ages. The surrounding areas were lovely and quiet. It was a peaceful place and the views are wonderful. This place really was the best family trip I've ever had and we can't wait to return already. One piece of advice: book up and see for yourself, it's not to disappoint. Thank you for the stay

Spacious home, management could be better

  • 2 of 5

Firstly I would like to stress that the trip instructions are essential. It's hard to find the holiday homes on just the geographic coordinates. The arrival instruction should be send to you before departure. Our arrival was not very enjoyable, the house was not cleaned well, smelled musty and was damp due to lack of proper ventillation. After notifying, some issues were handled. Nevertheless we spend one day cleaning the house. We already paid for endcleaning. For future visitors, it's also good to know that on promised facilities like a functional WIFI, a world wide digital TV-receiver and kitchen equipment, disappointments are to be expected. Nevertheless we had a nice two weeks holiday, enjoying the surroundings of Serra do Bouro. Caldas da Rhaina is an art town with a number of free museums and good reataurants, Foz do Arelho is a popular seaside resort with a beautiful boulevard. We also spend a day visiting Lisboa and Obidos. The fishing village of Nazaré is very attractive for beautiful views and good reataurants. We appriciated the peace and quitness at the quinta although we realize this was possible because we were the only visitors at the time. The view from the swimming pool is magnificent. Due to the bad management, I unfortunately can't give more than two stars, I will not recommend this home to others.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of the cottage. I am sorry it wasn't all to your liking. With regard to the points mentioned, firstly you and every guest is emailed detailed instructions on how to find the property. This includes pictures and full instruction from Lisbon airport. I am not sure why you would try and use geographical coordinates instead. I do agree with you that the cottage may have smelt musty as you were the first booking of the season. I have spoken to the management company and they have taken steps to make sure that it is fully aired prior to any booking. Wifi last year was provided by a Vodafone mobile system due to broadband not being available on the telephone line. Portugal Telecom has now installed broadband in the village and we have a very good connection. We do not say we have a world wide television receiver, it is satellite and picks up over 200 European channels. We have not had any complaints with the choice from any other guests. I am so glad you enjoyed the surrounding area and appreciated the pool, garden and views, that are very unique to our lovely property.

Car: necessary

Quinta do Bouro is set in a quiet village, close to the beach and busier villages and towns. There are plenty of dining options locally as well as excellent outdoor markets. Within easy reach is the UNESCO site, Obidos, a walled medieval town, traditionally gifted by the King of Portugal to his bride. The city of Tomar is within reach, where the highlight is the Castle of the Knights Templar, another UNESCO site. Alcobaça has an incredible monastery as well equally enticing cake shops! The largest natural lagoon in Europe, Obidos lagoon is only a few minutes by car and here you can kite surf, windsurf and kayak, sit in a cafe and watch the world go by, or simply lie on the beach and relax.

Just off shore are the Berlenga Islands, a nature reserve with crystal blue waters and secluded beaches to explore. There are also a choice of top quality golf courses all within easy reach.
