About Cherie

Outdoors man in love with Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Four Corners. Avid skier and horse back rider. In particular, to the Four Corners regions of Utah and Arizona, I have owned several homes over the last 30 years. All about exploring this amazing region of primitive and remote terrain.

Cherie purchased this mobile home in 2003

Why Cherie chose Utah

As a cost efficient way to keep my hat in the game of ownership in the Four Corners region. The home is cost efficient, but a big surprise when you walk in. Comfortable Beds, Flat Screen T.V's , Direct TV, Fully stocked kitchen,

Everything you need to feel like home.

What makes this mobile home unique

Its easy to get in and out, its efficient. Unlimited water, and water quality in Bluff, UT is extremely good. Its a walk for coffee, a short hike to meditate on a cliff looking a hundred miles into the desert of Arizona. The house is quiet, and very well put together.

This are id the Gateway to Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods, Natural Bridges, Mesa Verde, Arches, Canyonlands and Hovenweep. After a long day of exploring these incredible areas. It is great to come home to a fully set up extra comfortable Home.

Another enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

We visited again from Salt Lake, coming down for the Bluff Balloon Festival held in January. We spent the mornings at the festival and the rest of the days touring around, seeing the desert under a blanket of snow.

As before, we loved our home away from home, a perfect jumping off spot for the day's adventures. It is particularly useful to have a full kitchen to prepare meals since a lot of the local restaurants and establishments close down during the winter season.

We look forward to our next visit.

Wintertime fun in Bluff

  • 5 of 5

Stayed five nites over Christmas in this comfy home. Suited our needs very well. Come in the winter and you will have this area to yourselves. Great backcountry drives , Valley of the Gods, Hovenweep National Monument to name a few activities to be enjoyed. Come prepared with food and beverages as nearest grocery is in Blanding and beer and wine further up road in Monticello. Small grocery at Sinclair station could suffice in a bind. The Sand Island access to San Juan River just a little west of town has impressive panels of petroglyphs. Drive down to the river pit in and if river is icy stand beside the r River and just listen to the music if the ice bumping around while flowing... and don't forget to go out at night and look up at the dark western sky. Just beautiful.

Great home base for exploring the area

  • 4 of 5

My ex-husband and our two children and I rented this home for four nights last week to use as a home base, while we explored the four corners area. It's a wonderful central location to just about everything - 1:48 to Arches National Park, 1:45 to Mesa Verde, CO, 1 hour to Monument Valley. We spent one whole day just exploring the area around Bluff and it was one of our best days! The home has everything you need - we didn't eat much more than breakfast there, but we could have cooked a full meal if need be. The three bedrooms were great and the two bathrooms were even better - the girls stayed in the bunk beds, my ex stayed in the room next door and I slept on the other end in the master bedroom, where I could get up at 5 every morning and shower without waking anyone else up. Everything was clean and in good shape. The only thing we had trouble with was finding it (in our defense, it was a long day of driving and we were tired), but once we found it, we were very happy. Bluff is a great little town and I plan on going back for sure. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

nicely appointed

  • 4 of 5

This home is nicely situated to take advantage of the wonderful 4 corners area. I've never been to a rental that was so completely stocked--every kind of cookware, utensil, spice and even packaged foods. Made it super convenient for us. We were 4 adults and enjoyed taking advantage of the two bathrooms and three different bedrooms. One is separated from the others, which works well for someone who needs quiet.

Quiet Get-away In The Off Season

  • 4 of 5

We rented this little home over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend in 2014 and felt like we had the whole neighborhood to ourselves. Bluff is a sleepy little town during the off season, but a great place to explore any time of year. We made day trips to explore the surrounding area and plan on returning.

The home worked well for our party of 5 adults. Two slept in the bunk beds, but had no complaints. Everything was clean and well cared for. We prepared all our own meals in the well appointed kitchen. The bluetooth enabled stereo system was a great plus. We listened to music from our various music devices while cooking and eating our meals.

We had a little trouble finding the house in the dark. There's not much street lighting (or numbering of the houses) and the house is not visible from the paved roads. The key was going into the RV park itself, where the home is located on the southwestern edge. Be sure to have a picture from the website in order to recognize the home.

The hot water heater seemed to be set too high when tested at the faucets, but was just about right for five adults to take hot showers in the cold weather.

Wireless internet at the home was adequate for surfing the web and streaming music, a little too spotty for streaming video, but a DVD system is available for playing movies. We had cell service on all the major networks, but only T-Mobile had a strong enough data signal.

All in all, this was a great rental at a very affordable price. I will definitely return.

Surrounding Bluff are canyons and mesa-tops to explore. These areas are easy day hikes from roads just outside of town and offer more rock art panels, ruins and just great views of amazing desert landscape. One of Bluff's most popular spots is the BLM Sand Island Camping Area. It is the put-in for the famous San Juan River trips in the region. Even if not taking off on a river trip, be sure to stop to see some of the most exciting examples of rock art. From ancient times many cultures have left their mark and told their stories on the painted walls along the San Juan corridor. Just behind the Coffee Shop across the street is a great trail, just about a mile in you will see up on the cliff line a beautiful example of horse art. There is even a rock that has fallen from the cliff that you will find.

Mountain bike enthusiasts will find a pleasant diversion from slickrock trails here in bluff. There are many dirt roads taking off just outside of town that lead to wonderful views, interesting archaeology and just great rides.

Only 25 miles north of Bluff are the Abajo Mountains, offering a cool break for the summer visitor and even backcountry skiing in the winter. The 10,000 feet of elevation showcases lakes for fishing and easy access

by paved and unpaved roads for spectacular vistas and shady picnics.

For yet another great adventure find your way to the Grand Gulch Primitive Area. From Mexican Hat on State Route 26 you will find The Kane Gulch Ranger Station where you can secure a permit for $8.00 per person. This affords an opportunity to see Ancestral Puebloan cliff ruins and rock art in a natural setting. Ancestral Puebloans lived here between 800 and 2,000 years ago in permanent homes made of stone, wood and mud. Dwellings may have been built on the ground, dug into the ground, or built in protected are such as under overhangs and high in the cliffs. Every where you look up you will see examples of the survival skills these ancient peoples possessed.

Other areas of interest nearby Bluff, Utah include: Butler Wash Ruins overlook, Mule Canyon Ruins, spectacular hiking opportunities and just a great adventure what ever direction you choose for the day.
