I was born 1947, and trained as graphic designer in London, were I worked as designer, later as writer and film critic in Norway. Stayed with my family in Italy and South Africa for some years. I am now enjoying traveling and working with real estate development. When this Oslo property is rented out, I myself usually stay in another apartment above. This means I am seldom far away should you need any assistance.
Morten PR Russell Wedén purchased this apartment in 1987
The house sits high on a hill overlooking a lovely park. I was always attracted to this house and area for many years. Then came the opportunity to purchase. When I bought the apartment more than 28 years ago, I immediately connected to it. I felt I was 'home'. It is always like that with homes; it’s either love at first sight or there is no connection at all. This apartment is a perfect shelter, a place where you can relax completely. You image you are in the country, yet you are in the middle of a city. My three adult sons have grown up here, my baby boy has just started getting the feel of the place. Recently the facade went through a major restoration and most of the original details are in place. This apartment still has the original lay out, and although it has modern appliances throughout, it has hardly been altered since it was built in 1897. It is filled with lots of artefacts, prints, sculptures and antiques.
Through the years I have introduced some architectual salvage into the apartment; intarsia doors, among other things. These items do not contrast, but complement the apartment, so does the comprehensive video library, and films can be watched on a giant cinema screen. And in the morning you can bring your coffee with you out on the other side. In winter you can enjoy a drink in front of the roaring fire in the living room.
I can never see myself giving this apartment up for another.
I just wanted to say thank you. Our family had a wonderful stay in Oslo. Your lovely home was a great place to relax and enjoy our time together.
This is a very comfortable apartment. Lots of room with a functional kitchen. At few nice restaurants within walking distance. City centre is within walking distance but if you like you can take a bus from just down the street. Supermarket is an easy walk. Restaurants in oslo are pricey much cheaper to cook you own meals to mitigate cost. I discovered Bislett stadium is about 10 minutes walk away if you wanted to come for the annual track meet that is quite special. Morten is easy to deal with and helpful. It is quiet at night you should sleep well. If you have a car there is street parking I recommend getting a spot before 5 pm as it can get a bit tight but even then we found one. Nice park across the street. Oslo is a wonderful city with world class and interesting museums and also easy access to countryside. If you wanted you can take the subway to wonderful hiking trails and even cross country skiing in winter. I could easily live in oslo and be quite happy
Easy to get to, on bus routes from town centre. Central location for walking to Royal Palace & Frogner Park ( lovely shopping area ). Supermarket 3 mins walk away. At the top edge of a beautiful wooded park with panoramic view of the city at sunset. Morten was very helpful & showed us how it all worked. Very comfortable homely apartment with eclectic decor and lighting. Two bathrooms and a layout and sleeping arrangement that worked for the five of us. Kids are now students & we felt we were reliving our student days with LP's & large screen projector for DVD's. We got 3 day Oslo passes For museums & public transport. Great stay would do it again. It was a very cool place with lots of fun things to look at and a good location! Beautiful park steps from door.
Sehr schöne kleine Wohnung in zentraler Lage, die alles beinhaltet, was man braucht und ausreichend Platz für 4 Personen liefert.
Alles entsprach zu 100% unseren Erwartungen.
We had a wonderful 11 day stay in Morten's flat during our time in Oslo. Well located, about a 20 minute walk to city center with easy free street parking just in front should you drive. We always walked into town unless we were going across to the Kon Tiki and Fram Museums (our favorites in Oslo!) The flat is unlike any we've been in with its wonderful antique decorations from around the world throughout and an extensive book collection. Quite a lot of character to the flat. In an old-style building, we found our stay very comfortable - well-lite, large, nicely appointed with comfy beds for two adults and four kids. There is a large hilly park just across the street, lending a green open feel to the area. Morten was extremely courteous and easy to arrange things with - he showed us around upon arrival and was easy to reach and responsive. Highly recommended for a family stay close to the city.
We made a pilgrimage to my mothers home country. It was three generations of us
including my daughter and we happened to choose the Independence week of May 17 to be in town.
Accommodations were costly when we looked around earlier in the year and we felt extremely lucky to have found this gem. Of coarse we didn't know really until we got there
and I speak for my whole family now when I say that the building was delightful beyond the pictures and commentary on the website. The home was charming and spacious and so well located that we found ourselves walking to the square often or picking up a convenient cab just down the block at the always stocked taxi stand. The park directly across the street gives it a greenbelt buffer and it was great to take a jog through the trails more than once.
Finally I will let you know that the owner "Morten" was professional and conscientious with
our understanding of his home. We would be honored to call this our home for the week again if we ever make it back to this Viking land.

From the park right outside the apartment one has a panoramic view of Oslo, the fjord, the Holmenkollen ski jump and the wooded hills surrounding the city. During winter there is only a short trip to an eldorado for cross country- snow board or down hill skiers.
During summer you can just hang out in the popular park (it has an open air café), enjoy numerous good restaurants (Collets Cafe, Arte Pazza, Pascal, SmalHans, Schröder or the unusual Underwater Pub, where you can enjoy live opera on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings), Alternatively you can walk to the city centre in 15 - 20 minutes.(Also bus no. 21 and 37). From the city centre (in front of the Town Hall) you can take a short ferry trip to the Viking Ships Museum, the Folk Museum and the Kon Tiki Museum at Bygdøy. Or go swimming in the new fashionable centre of town at Tjuvholmen or at Bygdøy’s popular beach Huk. Or you could go out to one of the islands for swimming or sightseeing. Oslo has many museums (Astrup Fearnley, Edvard Munch, National Gallery, Gustav Vigeland Park & Museum etc) in its centre. The city has quite a hectic nightlife with bars, music clubs and restaurants to cater for any taste. And during the summer there is only a few hours of darkness. Temperatures in summer vary between 16 to 22 but can reach 30 degrees centigrades. During winter temperatures vary between plus 4 to minus 15 centigrades.
Golf: The nearest golf course is situated at BOGSTAD, an estimated 7 km drive away (north west – Ankerveien 127). The Oslo Golf Club here is the oldest in Norway, established 1924 in an undulating parkland set on the banks of Lake Bogstad which borders the layout on two sides. The location is charming with generous fairways with some doglegs and plenty of trees which will only occasionally come into play after a wayward drive. The course was extensively renovated i 2009 by Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest & Associates, which included fairway and green drainage works and improved playing surfaces.
