I am the mother of 5 grown children and have 2 lovely grandchildren, who live in the UK so I don't see them as much as I would like!! I am an animal lover and have been significantly involved in helping The Hope Sanctuary here, which is about 15 minutes from Pollards Mill. I love peace and tranquility, but I also like to meet people. I very much enjoy entertaining and often have my guests for a drink or to dinner, cooking, walking, swimming especially in my pool, which is large and quite secluded. I like reading and belong to a book club here on the island and the members are from different walks of life and differing ages and sexes, which makes for very stimulating discussions!!
Linda Cooper purchased this cottage in 2008
I bought Pollards Mill, because of the beautiful setting, the peace, tranquility and its history, which I am still trying to obtain information about. Also it has been a tremendous project for me, as I have done extensive renovations to the property in the grounds and with the buildings.
Views, peace, privacy really it is in it's own little world. I am a great fan of the book 'Gone With the Wind' so when I came here I knew it had to be mine because of the old plantation bell outside the front door, which has now become my logo. So I now feel I am really living the dream. When I leave I cannot wait to return here. The Mill, which still stands within the grounds is also very inspirational and is in very good condition. I love to sit on the lawn in front of my patio and just drink in the view whilst relaxing sunbathing and reading my book. There are many little corners in the grounds to escape to as well as some amazing old trees. On the bottom lawn there is what I would call a 'fairy ring' created by a circle of palm trees this is very magical!

This was a highlight for my family! We stayed at the Dovecoat Cottage on beautiful Pollards Mill and could not have been happier about our overall experience. The location is wonderfully peaceful, and we enjoyed exploring the grounds under the beautiful palm trees. The old mill is especially beautiful. The cottage was very comfortable, clean, and spacious. There were monkeys in the trees that were very exciting to see! The swimming pool was a definite favorite for us, even after being at the beach all day, we enjoyed taking an evening swim in the beautiful pool, with the surrounding palm trees lit up by colored lights. It was magical!
You will not be disappointed by staying here, Linda is a fantastic hostess and such a lovely person. She made us feel very comfortable!
We are already dreaming of returning.
My stay at devcote cottage was a wonderful experience.it was very relaxing and and the view of the property was so great. I would recommend this to my friends
We usually take our vacation nearer the sea, but this was just what we needed. It was quiet and out of the way. The cane fields, trees and lovely flowers made lovely viewing. We spent two weeks of complete rest, it was amazing.
Spent each day swimming and lounging by the pool.
We chose not to have a car, as we had family on the island who drove us around, but I would advise transport so you can nip to the shops etc. The hosts were delightful, and had us round for snacks and drinks one evening, sipping drinks in the cool evening breeze was a superb experience. My family enjoyed themselves and have said they will come again!
Dovecote cottage for me was like home from home, the atmosphere was tranquil and welcoming, it was as if I was visiting my own little piece of Barbados. I can't wait until we are there again!
We treated our son and his wife and 2 children to a fortnight with us at Pollards Mill. We were thrilled with every aspect of it. The pool and surrounding gardens surrounded by sugar plantations gave us the peace and privacy that we wanted for our self catering.Plantation View was especially spacious and luxurious for a couple. Our hostess was available and friendly but not intrusive. We can't wait to return next year. Peter and Brenda Davies
My husband and I had the most fabulous experience during our 9 night stay in the Plantation View cottage on the Pollard Mills Estate. We came across Pollard Mills after we had arrived in Barbados and had a terrible experience at our pre-booked accommodation. Linda responded to our request for last-minute accommodation immediately and invited us to come up to her property for a viewing the same day we contacted her. Once we arrived at the property we both knew right away that we would be spending the remainder of our time in Barbados there. The cottage itself is absolutely stunning, a beautiful and spacious two story structure that is very clean - we felt like we were one of the first guests to ever stay there! The downstairs open-plan living area was very functional and had everything we needed to self-cater. The open concept master bedroom and bathroom upstairs was unlike anywhere we had stayed before and we thoroughly enjoyed coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening on the covered porch with views over the sugar cane fields. The property itself is unbelievable and I can say, without a doubt, that the photos do not do this property justice. It is a lush and very well cared for estate with a huge variety of tropical plants and trees. We loved watching the local group of wild monkeys sneaking bananas in the morning outside our window and the sounds of the birds all day long. The estate is located in a central location with views all the way down to the south coast (you can see the famous Crane hotel) and to the ocean beyond. While the estate is centrally located, 15 minutes to Ostins (a must do on a Friday night for the fish fry!), 10 minutes to Bath beach (a lovely swimming area on the rougher East coast) - you feel like you are on your own in paradise. We loved going on adventures around the island in the morning and returning to the peace and quiet of Pollard Mills to spend our afternoons relaxing in the pool under the swaying palm trees. Without a doubt we would (and already have!) recommend this property to others – it would be perfect for a romantic getaway, a family trip, or a destination wedding! Linda was a great host who gave us our privacy but was always available if we had a question or needed anything. We hope to travel back to Barbados in the next year or two and, without question, would return to Pollard Mills! Enjoy this lovely piece of paradise!
What a lovely time my family and I spent at Doveoote cottage. the accommodations were clean, pretty and comfortable. Although at first I thought I would miss being close to the sea, as we had done in previous years, I soon grew to love being surrounded by the cane fields and the sound of the wind in the tress. The grounds are beautifully kept with many lovely varieties of flowers and trees. Linda was a generous host, having us for dinner in her home even! The plantation itself, is rich with island history and the parish of St Philip is one of our favourites, quiet and calm but within easy driving distance to busier areas. We would happily recommend this rental.
