Our family purchased this house in Feb, of 2012 in the French Qtr, It is a free standing unit built around 1885 and has been renovated to the highest standards. We have a love of all properties with history in this area of New Orleans.
Duane Attaway purchased this cottage in 2012
The house is free standing and not a condominium arrangement. This unit gives us the unique distinction of being in the center of all the activities (Mardi Gras, Jazz Festival, French Qtr Festival and Halloween activities) . We can walk to and enjoy any of the festivities in less than 10 minutes.
It is located 1 1/2 block from the famous Bourbon Street and 2 blocks from Royal Street. Where you can shop, dine, bar hop, enjoy all of the local musicians, jazz bands and all the the other attractions the French Quarter has to offer.
What a treat to stay in a historical shot gun house. We loved the backsplash in the kitchen. Owners were great to work with and even accommodated a late checkout because our flight was so late. I agree with other reviewers that you do need to be comfortable walking through the second bedroom to get to the kitchen and bath.
I stayed here the week before Halloween with my parents and brother. I had never been to New Orleans so I really wanted the full experience. We decided to stay in the French Quarter so we could be within walking distance to everything. I'm so happy we stayed here! The cabin is a shotgun style home with tons of character. The ceilings are so high which makes all of the spaces feel very large. You can tell the owner's have put in a lot of effort to restore the original character to this home. The kitchen is beautiful and the home has everything you could possibly need in one place. We were able to get the New Orleans experience we wanted and stay in a very comfortable/safe home while we were there. It's a little loud at night but that comes with staying in the French Quarter. Thank you for making our trip incredibly memorable!
We spent halloween weekend at the house and the location couldn't have been better. We walked to/from the Superdome for the game and all over the quarter. House is clean and has a ton of character. We did use ear plugs at night but that is to be expected. As others have said, if you aren't real close with the other two people it could be slightly awkward due to the shotgun style of the house. Owners were very responsive and available to answer questions. Thanks for a great stay!
Great location in the French Quarter. Easy walk to Bourbon Street and all attractions. Must be close with those in the second bedroom as you have to walk through to get to bathroom and kitchen. Fixtures in bathroom need to be more securely mounted. The light fixtures wiggled. Beautiful kitchen and modern bathroom. Beautifully decorated with high ceilings. A real NOLA shotgun house.
Great property with modern amenities and elegant details and soaring ceilings. Due to the shotgun style, best for very close friends or family. Lovely outdoor sitting area. Very attentive owners/hosts. A gem.
This house was perfect! It was clean, had everything you needed and was in the perfect location to enjoy Bourbon St. Next time we visit we will definitely be trying to get this spot again. Thanks Duane!!
THE UNIT IS LOCATED 1.5 blocks from Bourbon St.
and 2.5 blocks from Royal Street where there are many
antique shops and art galleries. Always fun to walk and
shop on Royal St.
There are many, many restaurants very close to the house, so you will never be far from a wonderful restaurant.
My favorite for seafood is Galatoire's at 209 Bourbon always fresh local seafood. A coat is required at night.
My favorite for Steak is Galatoire's Steak house. The best in the city. They also serve Lobster ,lobster salad,
