Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Flushing - Fish Hoek

Fish Hoek has 1 double and 1 twin bedroom to sleep 4 in comfort

From the moment you arrive in Flushing, you will feel as though you have stepped into a postcard. The village is as quaint as they come, situated right by the water and with mesmerising views across the bay to the town of Falmouth.

Fish Hoek is located in a row of pretty, traditional fishing cottages. When you step inside you will be taken in by how cosy and homely the property is. The property has been upgraded by its owners with enormous care to ensure it offers a stay of the utmost high standard, without detracting from its wonderful character.

Upon opening the front door you will find yourself in the living area, which is filled with light and offers a relaxing space to unwind after a busy day of exploring everything the local area has to offer. Crash out on the large comfortable sofa and watch your favourite shows or a DVD on a generous flatscreen television, or take a seat in the armchair, light the wood-burning stove, and let your cares drift away as you watch the flames and bask in the warmth.

The property also includes complimentary WiFi, so you can check emails, keep up-to-date with the news, research sights and activities in the local area, or make your friends and family jealous with photos and videos of your trip!

The kitchen is charming, beautifully decorated, and well equipped with everything you need to prepare your favourite dishes. In here you’ll find an oven, hob with extractor, microwave oven, and fridge freezer. There’s also a dishwasher, so you can spend less time cleaning up and more time sat at the dining table with your friends or family.

Both of the bedrooms are located on the first floor. The master bedroom features a double bed and plenty of storage in the form of twin bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a large wardrobe to hang your clothes so you can get unpacked and feel like you truly belong. The window overlooks the pretty street below.

The second bedroom has twin single beds, a large chest of drawers for storage, and a window overlooking the property’s beautiful rear garden.

The family bathroom features a splash of colour to keep the coastal theme alive, white tongue and groove walls, a WC, bath with shower, and a hand basin.

At the rear of the house you will find a peaceful garden that is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the fresh Cornish air. The space is arranged on several levels, with grass, gravel, and decking. A wooden bench at the very rear of the garden allows you to sit and overlook the greenery, or enjoy a good book and the fine weather.

The village of Flushing is the perfect holiday destination for those who want to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet without limiting their options. The village itself is calm and tranquil, but with two friendly pubs, an excellent seafood restaurant, and a well-stocked local shop, you’ll find that it never feels too remote. The local scenery is great to explore, and it is easy to go further afield should you wish.

A regular passenger ferry can take you across the river to Falmouth, which offers more of the same Cornish coastal charm and more hustle and bustle. Falmouth boasts a wide array of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, and takeaways. Whether you want to eat, indulge in a little retail therapy, take in a bit of culture at a local gallery, or enjoy a world-famous Cornish pasty, Falmouth has you covered.

After hopping across the water to Falmouth, you will find yourself well-connected to explore further into Cornwall. The capital city of Cornwall, Truro, is just up the river; you can access it by boat, bus, rail, or car. Here, you will find even more shops and places to visit, as well as strong transport links to other essential areas of Cornwall.

For couples and small families looking for a quaint property that perfectly balances serenity with adventure, Fish Hoek ticks all the boxes. Book your stay today to avoid disappointment

Christmas by the sea - the best we have ever had!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this charming cottage - beautifully decorated throughout and obviously much cared for by its owners. We stayed for Christmas and they thoughtfully provided us with a tree and decorations. Having 2 bathrooms made it easy for all the family and the beds were so comfortable that we didn't want to get up - the kids loved the TV in "their room!" Many relaxing evenings were spent in the sitting room with the woodburner, though the house was so cosy we only really lit it for effect.

Flushing village is wonderful - being able to stroll down to the water and the childrens playground meant we hardly used the car. Both pubs served excellent food and the seafood at the Waterside restaurant was stunning - we even saw the boat landing the catch that day! Everyone was very friendly and by the end of our stay we felt like we were part of the village.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and relaxing - exactly what we needed. The fact that we could bring Sampson our beloved dog made our stay - he has never been so fussed over!

Car: not necessary

Flushing is said to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect, between the banks of the Penryn River and Falmouth Harbour.

It became popular in the eighteenth century as the choice location for the wealthy Packet Ship captains, and was visited by Admiral Nelson. Latterly it has become one of the most sought-after locations anywhere in the West Country.

Flushing has an unrivalled mild climate, streets lined with picture-postcard traditional terraced fisherman’s cottages, and beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside. 2 excellent pubs and a stunning waterside restaurant are all within stumbling distance and a friendly village shop provides all the essentials.

There is also easy access onto some of the best sailing waters anywhere in the West Country, with the Helford River, the Fal Estuary, Falmouth Bay and Mylor Yacht Harbour all within reach. Flushing has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests, and it’s own dog-friendly beach.

The Flushing Regatta and Flushing Art Week are two unique annual fixtures not to be missed.
