Overview

About the property

Chalet, 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath With Mountain Views

The Glacier Chalet looks like something out of a charming storybook. (For larger groups, also check our other units located on the same property—Alpine House: Listing 134160, and Alpine Cottage: Listing 451633). The 1000 square foot, wood sided, red roofed, two story chalet with white painted balconies is a dream come true. Located at the edge of the woods, the quiet here is soothing and tranquil. Two cozy upstairs bedrooms, one with two twin beds, and the other with one queen bed, have down comforters. Each room is in European cottage decor and has its own private balcony with views of the mountains and woods and a place to sit and relax. A full bathroom is shared between the two bedrooms.

The downstairs has a full kitchen, dining room, living room with full sofa bed couch, reading chairs and a gas fireplace, a bathroom, entry room, and front porch. The living room opens out onto a large balcony deck with deck chairs and barbecue grill. The deck overlooks the meadow below and the mountains above.

Nice Little Chalet - In The Woods

  • 5 of 5

It seems small from the outside, but on the inside, there was plenty of room for my wife and I. The home was in a great location. Not too far from West Glacier, and not too far from town, but still out in the woods. Saw a small herd of deer walk by the second to the last morning we were there. The furniture and bed were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking and dining ware, but only one dish towel and dish rag. Also, pretty limited on bath towels and wash rags. It also would have been nice to have had a broom and dust pan to sweep up a bit when needed, and a mop, in case something was spilled. We stayed 5 nights, so this is something that may be needed. The gas fireplace was really nice in the evenings, while relaxing. The power went out one night, but the gas fireplace kept us warm, which was great, but there were no flashlights. I came prepared for that type of situation, and had a battery powered lantern, flashlight, and a backpack stove and food. Overall we enjoyed the Glacier Chalet, and would definitely consider staying again. Thank you.

Loved it! Would stay at the chalet again

  • 5 of 5

Three friends and I stayed for four nights. We hiked Glacier NP during the days and the drive to the West entrance was easy and fast. The chalet was easy to access, clean, and offered plenty of towels and sheets. The view from the deck and windows is beautiful and we loved watching the stars at night. It was very nice to have the washer/dryer to do laundry. We are all very satisfied with our stay and we'd stay here again.

Very nicely decorated

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we were pleased with the chalet. The on-line photos represent the chalet accurately, but based on the photos I assumed that it was rather new - it is not. Having said that, it was a comfortable stay. The chalet was very clean and had the basic essentials. Our only complaint was that the front hall light didn't work, and neither did the fan in the upstairs bathroom. The owner was contacted but the issues were not resolved even though we were there for 3 more nights.

Perfect base for Glacier NP

  • 5 of 5

Perfect size for a family of 4. Very cozy, and very quiet. Mid-August and it dipped into the 40's at night so no AC was no problem for us. It's definitely off the beaten path, which is exactly what we wanted. But close enough to Glacier for the park, and Columbia Falls for restaurants and groceries. Several times we saw coyotes and deer beside & on the road to the cabin. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Glacier.

Great location and very comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The house was very clean, well stocked, and comfortable. We are a family of four with two grown (mostly) kids -- a 20 year old and a 17 year old. There was plenty of room for all of us. The property is beautiful and just 20 minutes from the park entrance. (It's also about that distance to the best-stocked grocery store.) We honestly didn't spend a lot of waking time at the house -- park travel being what is is, we left by 5:30 every morning to get to our day's hike in light traffic, and by the time we ate dinner we were ready for bed in order to be up early. I can't rate the tv or cable service or any other leisure activities. But the beds were comfortable, which was great! The washer and dryer were a godsend. Our only complaint is something unavoidable, I'm sure, so it's nothing to hold against the homeowner. The water is soft and has a faint rotten egg odor, so showering and washing faces was unpleasant, and we didn't drink it. Our week in Glacier National Park was amazing and memorable and this house was pretty close to perfect.
