About the property

2 bedroom character house sleeps 4 + 2 in the heart of Old Town Poole

Our holiday home is a wonderful listed property full of character in a quiet old square with the Church at the centre. The house is beautifully furnished throughout with a fully fitted modernised kitchen and comfortable living/dining area on the ground floor. To the rear of the property is an enclosed courtyard with a small sitting area and also with room to park 1 or 2 cars (depending on sizes). There is a shed for storage.

The winding staircase leads up to the first floor double room with sashed windows and shutters overlooking St James Church. This bedroom has a light and modern fitted en-suite bathroom. Also on this floor is the family shower room, also modern and light. There is a study which has a sofa bed to allow 2 extra people to sleep if required.

The winding staircase leads on upstairs to the second floor double bedroom. From this bedroom a door leads onto a rooftop decked area - super for a quiet sit in the sunshine or evening drink.

Please note that bed linen is provided for the two double beds. We have provided a duvet, mattress protector and pillows for the sofa bed but you will need to bring linen for that. Personal towels are not provided.

We are very happy to consider short breaks in the low to mid season but please see below for prices. (Despite our best efforts with the website it is only able to calculate and present to you the pro rata rates - our apologies for this). Do call us if you have any questions.

  • The bathroom has a character red tiled floor and is bright and fitted with white sink, toilet and bath with central taps. The shower room also has a red tiled floor and white fittings. Both have the benefit of natural light from windows.

  • The spiral staircase leads you up to the first floor bedroom which looks out over the Church through two character sash windows. This room contains a double bed and the en-suite bathroom leads from it. On this floor, there is a study which contains a sofa bed which can be opened up for 2 more people if required. There is also a family shower room. Another winding staircase leads you up to the second floor where there is a further double bedroom. A roof top balcony can be accessed via this room.

This home is fully and beautifully furnished throughout with modern bedroom furniture and recently renewed bathrooms. There is an open plan living and dining area with the kitchen area, one step up. There is parking for one/two cars within a secure courtyard at the rear of the property. There is also a super rooftop decked area for sitting or sunbathing.

Fantastic period property.

We had a great week staying at the house. Everything we could have needed had been thought of to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The real convenience was being in the historic part of Georgian Poole. There are good restaurants within a very short walking distance. Pushed the boat out on the final evening and dined next door at the Hotel Du Vin. It proved to be a good decision as the staff, food and ambience was spot on.

A lovely town house in a fantastic location

We had a great time in Poole, there's so much to do. The house is well equipped and in a lovely location opposite the church. The parking is a little tricky but when you get used to it, it's not a problem. We would definitely return

Superb location

The location of this property could not be better if you are planning a stay in Poole. It is in a quiet and very attractive part of the town, but literally within a couple of minutes' walk to the quay, pubs, restaurants, local shops and ferries. The owner, Penny, was extremely helpful when we had a problem with the cooker. She came round very quickly and the problem was soon resolved. She also very kindly sent on a few items that we had inadvertently left behind on our departure! It was obvious that it was important to Penny that guests enjoyed their stay in the property - and we certainly did.

Charming cottage

We enjoyed how close the house was to the quay and high street. The house was close to the bus and train links for day trips exploring Dorset. Penny and Mark were a pleasure to deal with.

Beautiful character cottage in a peaceful location.

A lovely property - very quiet and peaceful but handy for shops, bars and other amenities. More spacious than we expected with lovely light rooms and very well equipped. Christmas dinner for 7 was easily managed! We even managed coffee on the roof terrace which I'm sure would have had a great deal of use at a different time of year.

Our character holiday home is located in a quiet square opposite the church of St James in Poole's Georgian Old Town. It is a minute away from Poole Quay and the harbour front with all its interest. Boats leave from nearby for Brownsea Island and harbour tours. Poole town is only 10 minutes walk away along the atmospheric old High Street with its restaurants and little shops. From Poole, the famous beaches of Sanbanks are a 15 minute drive. Bournemouth is also close and further afield the lovely town of Chritschurch and its historic Priory. The New Forest lies to the East, towns of Ringwood and Salisbury to the North and all the beautiful towns and villages of West Dorset to the West. Around the harbour lies the Isle of Purbeck and the Jurassic Coast with spectacular scenery and quiet coastal walks.

Refundable Damage Deposit £100

The security deposit of £100 is due within 5 days of making a booking. We will email confirmation of your booking with details of when the full and final payment is due. We will also send some more information about the house to you. We then hold the security deposit until after your departure, and, all being left clean and tidy in the house, we will arrange to return your deposit to you within two weeks of your departure - usually within a few days!
Please remember to bring your own personal towels.
Bed linen is provided for the two double beds. If you wish to use the sofa bed, the mattress cover, double duvet and pillows are provided, but please bring your own bed linen.
Please check with us for the cost of stays shorter than 7 nights as we are not able to charge exactly pro rata. We apologise that the website can only make a pro rata calculation. Thank you.
In the event of cancellation less than 3 months prior to your stay, we will endeavour to relet the house. If unsuccessful, we respectfully point out that you will be liable for the cost of the holiday booked, and we suggest you arrange insurance for such an eventuality.

  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
