Private sandy beach on Lake Michigan’s Trails End Bay in Wilderness State Park!

August 25-September 1, 2018 is now available to due a late cancellation!

Our 1,832 sq. ft. home offers all the best of Lake Michigan! Beautiful white-sand beaches and breathtaking sunsets coupled with a modern, newly remodeled home offer the perfect get-away with all of the comforts of home. Tucked away in Wilderness State Park, you will enjoy a secluded slice of lake front property, but will be a few minute’s drive from Mackinac City, The Mighty Mackinaw Bridge, ferries to Mackinac Island, and Michigan’s stunning Upper Peninsula. Open floor plan includes a spacious family room, dining area, kitchen with a fantastic lake view, three bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. We love this home as much as our permanent residence — completely furnished with new furniture, kitchen appliances, tableware, bedding, washer and dryer, and artwork.

Family room includes a large sectional couch (which can fold out to two twin beds), television with DISH TV, and a DVD player. The custom kitchen has granite counter tops and all new stainless steel appliances. The three bedrooms include a master suite with a queen bed, dresser, spacious closet, master bath, and a beautiful lake view with a cozy patio — perfect for relaxing with your morning coffee, watching kids play in the spacious backyard or lake, and enjoying sunsets. The second and third bedrooms have queen beds, dressers and spacious closets, and plenty of space to spread out. The second full bathroom sits between these two bedrooms.

The beach is pure white sand with clear water, so it is soft on your toes and ideal for swimming, sunning and walking the beach. A small grilling and seating area for cookouts and s’mores can be found at the edge of our beach area, allowing you to get the most of your Lake Michigan days and sunsets! We also offer a floating deck, three youth kayaks, and one youth paddleboard. Please bring your own life jackets.

The spacious, well maintained backyard facing the water is fantastic! Tossing the football, Frisbee, camping, napping or stargazing by the fire pit — plenty of room to do it all!

Mackinaw City is minutes away, where you can take the ferry to Mackinac Island, visit the shops, restaurants or historic sites, or play putt-putt. You can also cross the famous Mackinac Bridge to the town of St. Ignace or explore Michigan’s beautiful Upper Pennisula.

For Golfers, Michigan offers a seemingly endless supply of beautiful golf courses, many of which are nearby.

NOTES: Absolutely no more than 8 occupants. Bedroom, bath and kitchen linens are all furnished. Absolutely no pets, smoking or fireworks. We do not offer WIFI, but you will get a good cellular connection. You might consider a cellular hot-spot for internet access, or leave your devices in the car and spend the day at the beach! Remember: please be kind to the home and treat it as your own. We appreciate it.

About Kristen

We live in Indiana, but our family has vacationed in Michigan for nearly 10 years. We love the beautiful, clear summer days and the crisp, cool nights. For us, there is no place that compares to Northern Michigan!

Kristen purchased this house in 2016

Why Kristen chose Mackinaw City

The summers here are perfect with warm days (minus the humidity) and cooler nights. After vacationing/renting in Northern Michigan for many years, we began searching for a home to buy. On our third summer vacationing/renting in the Mackinac area, a friend invited us to spend the day at their home on Wilderness Park Trail. We were hooked and just waited for the perfect home to become available in this area.

What makes this house unique

Our home is located in Wilderness State Park, which is just around the point from the Mackinaw Bridge. This protected bay area with shallow water makes our beaches sandy and helps the water warm more than the deeper, colder waters of Lake Michigan.

Our boys can play and walk out quite a distance before the water gets deep (a little piece of mind). Also, it is amazing that the lake can be so still at certain times of the day/year. We’ve seen it look like glass before — just beautiful! Who would have thought you could see calm water like that on Lake Michigan! It is also breathtaking to see such different colors of the water. It is as if you are on the ocean with the levels of pretty blues in contrast with the white sandy beach.

The yard is also of value to us, as our boys love to get out, wrestle, play football, swim and explore. The house offers us the opportunity to be quiet and thoughtful, play outside or be at the movies in 10 minutes.

It fits our needs wonderfully with the soft, sandy shore, clear shallow water, friendly neighbors, and the convenience to town with the feeling of being far removed.

Perfect place for our family vacation. Beautiful view every morning and perfect sunset every night!

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay. The beach was sandy and water great! The home was fully equipped with all we needed. Spent every morning gathered around the island watching my brother-in-law cook bacon. We had 4 couples so one couple slept in the living room pull out and said it was very comfortable. The owner is very nice and accommodating. We realized they had artesian well in the front yard with perfect cold drinking water! We walked to the Headlands Dark Park, visited Mackinaw Island and the guys golfed at the Mackinaw City golf course. Great trip!!!

Thanks for sharing your home with us. We will be back!

Amazing home and property!

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazing home and property with a beautiful back yard that leads to a great beach. We had a family of 7 and had plenty of room. Just a few miles out of town but still out in the forest for all your nature needs. Loved it all and will definitely will stay again the next time in the area.

The perfect lake house!

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed. We loved the nice, sandy beach that was right out the back door. The owners were responsive and easy to work with.

A beautiful, stylish home in a stunning location!

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully decorated, comfortable home is the perfect place to spend a summer vacation. The home is just steps away from a gorgeous, sandy beach, and crystal clear water. The sunsets are amazing. The home is located near to the Mackinac Bridge, and ferries to Mackinac Island- perfect for day trips with the family. This home provided us with an amazing week in northern Michigan. We loved every minute!

Beautiful, private and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This house was clean and modern and had everything you could possibly need. We had 6 adults, a teen, and 2 kids (7 and 9). The adults got the bedrooms, and the kids slept in the living room using the couch and bean bags (which they loved). The only downfall to having them in the living room is the adults woke up much earlier and we had to be quiet until they woke up. All of the beds were comfortable and clean. The bathrooms are very small, but they were clean and functional and that matters more to me. The view of the lake was amazing, from both inside and outside. The water was pretty cold but it was fine once you got in. The kids loved the kayaks, but they are kids size and adults won't fit - so bring your own if you want to kayak :). There are things to do in town, but be warned, everything is like $25 per person. Mackinac Island was just okay - it was very busy and chaotic. There are horses and buggies and bikes and people walking - and no one knows who has the right of way. It's like pedestrian rules don't apply here. Plus, it smells like horse manure. The bike ride around the island was the best attraction and worth the money. After buying ferry tickets, lunch, dinner and bike rentals, we didn't want to spend anymore to see the fort. We mainly stayed in Mackinaw City, but we did drive out to Sault Ste Marie one day to see the Soo Locks, and Mill Creek, which we liked very much. All in all, great place to stay and great city to visit. Everyone was super nice and friendly. Dogs are everywhere- so if I could change one thing about this house it would be to make it pet friendly so I could bring my dog next time.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed the Lake views, had a nice stay and the space fit your family! The first time we visited the Island, it took us a bit to get adjusted to the horses and bicycles, but we make the trip every year and have found our favorite places and have settled into it. It is a much slower pace. We also love biking around the Island. The views are spectacular. Thank you for your feedback.
