About Property Manager/Owner
I grew up in Indianapolis, right by the Fountain Square neighborhood that the "Good Bones" gals on HGTV are now fixing up. However, my father and his father - on back to the mid-1850s - were born and raised on this farm. The original house is still there - on my cousin's half of the farm. Travel, photography, houses and this farm are some of my passions. California has been my home for 30 years, but I come back here as often as I can. I love that HomeAway gives me a way to support this house, yet block out time for myself and my family to enjoy it as well. Animals are also a passion - I have Valentina, a German shepherd who'll soon be 3; Frances, an 8-year-old calico cat that my previous German shepherd and I rescued as an abandoned kitten; and Missy, a 17-year-old Persian rescue that I've had since she was four.
Why Property Manager/Owner chose Portland
This is part of my 200-year-old family farm that I inherited from my mother when she passed back in 2005.
What makes this House unique
This is a very peaceful property, surrounded by crop fields, woods, and wonderful neighbors. The house is light and bright and always welcomes me. Based on guest reviews, it seems as if the house welcomes them as well.

We needed a few days of peace and quite and that is exactly what we had. The house was easy to find and Lila’s instructions on how to use the appliances were spot on. We were able to explore Bowling Green one day and Nashville another with just a short drive. It was raining when we arrived so the use of the garage was very nice. Watching the sunset from the front porch was a nice peaceful way to end the day. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.
Judy - thank you for this thoughtful and thorough review! So happy you enjoyed your time and made good use of the proximity to both Nashville and Bowling Green. Also that you made good use of the Nespresso and the attached garage. :-)
You were ideal guests and I truly hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future.
All the very best,
Peaceful Mockingbird Hill
We enjoyed our stay!! It was so peaceful. House was neat and clean. Loved the open concept of kitchen, dining, living rooms. Great accommodations. Enjoyed drinking our coffee and eating breakfast on front porch. We will definitely be back.
Judith - So happy you liked the house and enjoyed my favorite activity when I'm there - coffee and breakfast on the front porch. Delighted that we'll have the opportunity to host you again in the future.
Thanks much for the lovely review. All the very best, Lila

Modern farmhouse getaway
This property was exactly what we were expecting...it is definitely serene and away from all the hustle and bustle of big city living. The house is nice and the owner is very responsive. We had a pleasant, much needed vacation. Thank you!

It was a super great place to stay, it was very central to all the places we visited. The house was in the perfect place, "in the middle of nowhere". Which, is were we wanted to be. The property has some very interesting history and plenty of wildlife to see. I would highly recommend this place and would stay there again in a heart beat.
James - thank you for the lovely review. So happy that you enjoyed my little bit of "nowhere." :-) We hope to have the opportunity to host you and yours again ! All the very best, Lila
