There is good and there is bad

  • 3 of 5

So, I had a hard time rating this place because it really could be amazing! With some simple fixes, they could make it great...

Here's the Good:

The location is 5+ stars. It is absolutely in the middle of everything. You don't need a car at all, you can walk anywhere you want. The service (property manager) gets 5 stars. He was informative and very helpful. There is an elevator to access the apartment and one evening - close to midnight - the elevator was broken. We called him and right away he got someone there to help us find the hidden back stairs. The apartment itself is wonderful. It has exposed brick, beautiful floors and a nice fireplace. It's been updated but still has old charm. It's an apartment I'd love to live in.

Here's the Bad:

The owners get this amazing apartment but skimped on the contents. The bed itself is ok, but the pillows were horrible. I have never experienced flatter pillows in my life and it was not a very comfortable sleeping situation. Honestly, I don't know where one even buys a pillow that bad, it was bananas. Next, the couch was pretty crummy, it looked like it'd been through a lot...one of those couches where you aren't sure what's happened on it (eeks!), so we certainly didn't want to hang out in the living room. And a couple of the chairs at the dining table had stains on them, yuck. Lastly, there was no handsoap! First thing I did upon arriving was use the restroom and I had to wash my hands with the shower gel. To the next patrons, you are welcome because I purchased handsoap and left it there.

One more thing - there is an event space right below the apartment, so there is a possibility that a wedding reception or party could be going on while you are staying there. If so, be prepared not to sleep until it's over. We lucked out that there was a party during a time we were getting ready to go out and it ended shortly after we returned, so we weren't bothered by it. But, had it been an evening we were trying to go to bed early, I would've been very mad.

Great location in the heart of downtown Charleston

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights during Thanksgiving week. Location was wonderful - could walk to restaurants and historic sights downtown. Property management was very attentive from the moment we made the reservation to instructions on how to access the property prior to our arrival. They promptly fixed a maintenance issue we reported and supplied us with some additional kitchen items that we requested. (Note: kitchen is very small so really only good for morning coffee/breakfast.) Property is on a busy intersection so there is some traffic noise but that didn't really bother us. My only suggestion to improve the condo is a new mattress and pillows.

We loved the condo and the location. Would highly recommend staying here. Perfect trip to an awesome city. Probably one of the most friendly and hospitable cities in the south.

Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful apt and in the perfect location! The apt has beautiful hardwood floors and cool exposed brick walls with plenty of room for 2 people. And it was within walking distance of everything in the historic downtown! We never needed our car until time to leave.
