Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday villa in Kassiopi - Villa Bacchus Kassiopi Corfu

Holiday Villa in Kassiopi, Corfu with a child friendly pool and great view .

Villa Bacchus is a traditional-style Greek country cottage lying in its own small garden and reached by a country lane. Accessed via a driveway shared with the villa next door, this semi-detached house is in an ideal location only 1,5 km from the shops and tavernas of Kassiopi and just half km from Avlaki's shingle and pebble beach.

The villa's poolside terrace is a pleasant and fabulously scenic spot, with a crazy-paved patio surrounding the swimming pool and looking out across the tree-clad countryside to the sparkling Ionian Sea in the distance. A shaded door opens into the house where you will find a kitchen/diner and a simply-styled twin bedroom with French doors opening onto the poolside terrace. Two steps lead up to a shower room and the lounge; a cool room with whitewashed walls and a tiled floor, decor with some of the owner's family antiques. Upstairs is a galleried second bedroom with a wide shaded balcony overlooking the pool and enjoying sensational views across Avlaki Bay to Albania.

The history of the Villa: The dwelling carries a history of over 200 years since 5 generations of a family grew up there.

The original purpose of its construction was so that the family could use it as a summer holiday home when moving down from the mountain, where the majority of the inhabitants lived, and use it to do their swimming which was very beneficial to many ailments.

Later it was used as a permanent home having as a primary purpose the gathering of olives and the production of wine. Having their own olive press, they produced olive oil of exceptional quality as well as products derived from it's production. They also grew and harvested their own grapevineys, an occupation still retained today but on a much smaller scale.

Great location,clean rooms, fantastic weather

we have always had a fantastic holiday in villa Bacchus. The town is only a short walk away with its shops, bars, restaurants and beach front. the villa is set away from the town area but all are only a short stroll away. The villa therefore is quite at night away from the bustle of the town. The pool is always clean and well kept and the rooms are cleaned to a good standard. I would recommend villa Bacchus to young families as well as older couples looking for a holiday slightly removed from the centre of nightlife but within easy reach.

Kassiopi is one of the most beautiful and well known resorts in Corfu, where visitors return year after year. A place that combines mountain with sea, green with blue, new with old, tranquillity with liveliness, the locals that make you feel welcome and important to them, it fulfils the needs of all ages with many choices for day or night. Kassiopi is situated on the north east coast of Corfu at 36 kilometres from Corfu Town and is surrounded by lush green slopes of olive trees and charming little bays. Its picturesque amphitheatre shaped port, its well preserved church, its cosmopolitan finesse, its deep blue and hospitable shores, the sight of the huge Byzantine fortress that looms over the village as well as the varied and affordable choices of bars and restaurants will enchant it’s visitors.

Kassiopi is suggested as a good base from which to dash around the island as the northern part of the island offers many remarkable places which are close and easily accessible.

A little to the east of the village and not more than 3 kilometres away is the wonderful beach of Avlaki where one can take sailing and horse riding lessons. Right next to Avlaki is the region of Agios Stefanos (6 kilometres) with its little port; a haven for various recreational vessels and its unique fish taverns. Going further east, visit the beach of Kerasia with its turquoise waters, Kalami the favourite village of the author Lawrence Durrel and if you have rented a boat you must stop for a bite at Agni.

At 4 kilometres to the west of Kassiopi is one of the island’s best sandy beaches, that of Kalamaki and right after that follows the sandy beach of Agios Spiridona ;both of which are worth a visit especially if you have children. For those who seek adventure ,it is worth to take a jeep ride or hike tour to the mountainous region with its unbeaten tracks, such as the settlement of Palies Sinies. You should not miss out on the traditional Venetian village of Palia Perithia (12 kilomtres),which was built during the 16th century with each family building its own church, and where today a significant number of buildings have been renovated.

It is truly worth the effort to tour the narrow stone paths as well as stop at one of the four small tavernas of the village.

Pantokratora's monastery is located on the highest peak of the island and offers a panoramic view of the region but generally the mountainous paths transpire exceptional beauty and the different architecture and atmosphere of the mountainous villages are a special experience. Finally we should state that Corfu Town with one of the best historical centres in Europe is ideal for strolls through its narrow side streets and has a very good market. Corfu offers far more than just a beach holiday.Centuries of cultural transformation have left many imprintson the island. Therefore,if you are visiting for more than a week,it is well worth taking the time to explore it.

-Local community: Most villages in Greece are overpopulated by tourist in summer, but are quite abandoned in winter when the locals crowd into the towns for lack of work.

Kassiopi is the first holiday resort to open and last to close in the tourist Corfu season. It is a good size village with a good size of local population throughout the year. This is why the village offers all the necessary modern amenities and it still keeps the aroma of a Greek village … which we’ll let you discover for yourselves!

You will have no problem communicating with locals and you will be surprised to find that many of them speak fluent English. Some also speak Italian and German

The island of Corfu has a large variety of local dishes, based on olive oil, vegetables, pulses and fish.

Corfu has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe.
