Come share our dream home!

This condo is not an investment property, we live in this condo part time. We chose this condo for its location right across from Charley Young Beach (next to Kama'ole 1), our favorite Maui beach. Our condo has an ocean view from our lanai, living room and kitchen. Charley Young Beach is directly across the street.

Our condo (#1402) is on the top (4th) floor in building #1 and is one of the biggest and nicest units in the Maui Vista complex. Since it's in the first building, it provides the best ocean and pool view in the complex, as well as plenty of privacy since the condo is located near the end cap. Enjoy the sunset from the Lanai balcony before you take a soak in our romantic Jacuzzi tub. The condo is air conditioned, has all the usual amenities, PLUS free Internet, free Hawaii, mainland and Canadian phone calls and more (see details). Includes a new flat panel TV, xBox 360 with 2 controllers, iPod docking stations, Keurig coffee maker, custom artwork, as well as a new queen sleeper couch, new bar-height lanai furniture and Tommy Bahama beach chairs! In May 2014 we remodeled the kitchen - all new granite counter tops, new stainless range, sink and dishwasher!

We chose a Kihei location because Kihei gets more sun than most of Maui (some parts of Maui can be quite wet!). Kihei is also centrally located, making it easy to take a quick trip to Lahaina (west side) or the North shore (which is great for sports... one of the reasons we are on Maui). Kahului (where the airport is) is only 15-20 minutes away. This is also where you would start your trip to Hana if you want to explore the wilder east side of the island. Or of course, just stay in Kihei and enjoy all its amenities. Supermarkets, restaurants, bars, golf courses, and more, are all within walking distance. And the beach is directly across the street - only a 2 minute walk away!

We believe being fully booked is more important than maximizing our rates, so our rates are priced slightly lower than other condos of the same caliber. We have a lot of repeat guests who absolutely love our condo - just read our reviews! :)

Aloha! We are Markus and Ellen, the owners of the condo you are considering. We live on Maui part time, and we split our time between Maui, Houston, and Austria (near the city of Salzburg right smack dab in the middle of the Alps). I know: It's a tough life, but someone has to do it ;-)

But it's not all fun and games of course. We are business owners who happen to be lucky enough to be able to work from anywhere there is internet. The good news is we travel - a lot! The bad news is we always bring work with us, but we love it! Our core business revolves around custom software development. We specialize in consulting, custom software development, training, conferences, and more. We also publish one of the leading software developer magazines (CODE Magazine).

Why Ellen Whitney chose Maui

When we bought our condo, we first and foremost looked for a great location. We wanted something that provided the “tropical island feeling”. We wanted to be near or on a beach, and not just any beach, but on a beach we really liked and felt at home at. We also wanted a nice location that would provide access to the things we liked, and we wanted a location that would give us easy access to other cool locations, such as the North Shore and Lahaina. We wanted grocery stores, restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. We wanted a great location that we could bring our friends to. With all that, it quickly became clear we wanted to be in the southern part of Kihei, near our favorite beach on the island - Charley Young Beach (the north end of Kama'ole 1).

What makes this condo unique

Our favorite Maui beach is directly across the street, less than 100 yards away. We have tons of restaurants, bars and shops, including a grocery store, within walking distance. Other Maui attractions (such as the North Shore, which we visit a lot, or Lahaina, and many others) are not far, since Kihei is centrally located. The airport is nearby. Kihei is also sunnier than other parts of Maui - it actually rains a lot in some parts of Maui!

My husband and I were in Hawaii for our honeymoon a few weeks ago, and we had a great experience staying at Ellen's condo in Kihei! The listing was exactly as described - the apartment was clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. The overall location was perfect as well, with a beautiful view of the ocean and the ability to get around the island easily. I definitely recommend this condo to anyone who is looking for a living accommodation away from the resort area, but central enough to visit any part of Maui. Overall, we had an excellent trip and will consider staying at the condo again the next time we are in town :)

Notes:
Take the Tommy Bahama beach chairs to the beach - only 240 steps away! (Yes, one of our guests counted! :) Condo is located on the top/4th floor near the end cap so it's quiet with a great ocean view from the living room and lanai! Building has an elevator.

Great condo and location

We just got back from our trip to Maui. We picked this condo largely due to the great reviews so I wanted to pay it forward. This was our first time booking a vacation rental and Ellen was very quick to respond to our questions which made us feel more comfortable. My wife and I traveled with our 2 daughters (17 & 19). They took the upstairs bedroom which they loved because it was like having a separate condo. Charley Young beach was a very short walk and not too crowded. When we got there one of the floor fans was broken and the property manager got a new one to replace it that same day. We didn't end up using any of the snorkeling gear but saw others snorkeling along the rocks on the north side of the beach. The Tommy Bahama beach chairs and the umbrella were great. It was also convenient having the cooler and beach towel. The only things we needed to bring were swimsuits and flip flops. There was a concierge service through Maui Info & Visitor Center that was available in the mornings that was really helpful in giving tips on what to do and even booked our Molokini snorkel cruise and tickets to the Ulalena show in Lahaina. The agent we worked with was RW and I would highly recommend him. If we travel again to Maui we would stay in this condo again. Thanks for helping to make it a memorable vacation Ellen.

Perfect for a casual escape.

This condo was perfect for our family of five. It has everything you could want (all beach stuff, pool towels, kitchen with everything, washer/dryer in unit, AC, view, short walk to the beach, good WiFi, flat screen TV, seating for everyone, fans, easy parking... everything). This condo is nicely updated throughout while not being so nice you are worried about stepping into the place with kids. The owners were great to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to return here in the future.

Relaxing beach week

My husband and I stayed here for a week in March and had a wonderful time! The condo's location was perfect. It was easy to walk across the street to the beach, and the location was central for exploring other amazing beaches in Wailea, Paia, and Lahaina. Getting to the airport was convenient as well, and there were lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We are expecting a baby this summer, and noticed that the upstairs loft area had a portable crib and a high chair. We appreciated having use of all the beach gear (umbrella, beach chairs, towels, snorkels) and the view from the balcony was spectacular- we even saw a whale while sitting in those chairs in the picture!

Perfect location

We loved this condo. Perfect location less than five minute walk to the beach. Great amount of space for our family of four. Condo had everything we needed for a nice day at the beach. Clean and well maintained. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
