5 bedroom house ideal for family get-togethers

Songthrush is a spacious, family-owned contemporary home on the private Lower Mill Estate nature reserve in the Cotswolds Water Park. A fabulous property set in a quiet cul-de-sac location and overlooking a small reeded stream, you have miles of scenic walks from the front door and an abundance of local sporting, sightseeing and relaxing activities.

Families are particularly welcome, with plenty of activities for all ages. Children are well catered for with games & books, well behaved dogs are welcome.

The Estate is a 650 acre nature reserve, home to a myriad of wildlife. There is a fabulous (inclusive) Art Spa with indoor/outdoor pools, gym and treatment rooms, as well as playground areas, trampolines, a football area and table-tennis and tennis courts. A small shop and café is 150m walk

Lower Mill Estate comprises exclusive, private villages committed to ecological best practice, with wonderful facilities, a luxury family spa plus over 550 acres of pure Cotswold countryside to explore.

On site you will find the £6m Artspa, with a heated indoor and outdoor pool, plunge pool (very cold!), sauna and steam room. There is a well-equipped gym, and a tennis court that can be booked by the hour. Your rental includes access for all guests to the Artspa. The Artspa also offers a wide range of spa treatments using 100% natural plant-extract Pevonia products.

There is a small shop and cafe on site which opens in peak hours, offering a good range of grocery provisions, as well as great coffee & tea, patisserie and light lunches. They sell tasty home-made frozen meals and can also provide gourmet dining direct to your front door.

There are numerous lakeside walks you can take without leaving the Estate. For some years now the Estate has supported the re-introduction of beavers into the protection of the nature reserve. There are spots around Flagham Fen where you can hope to catch a glimpse of these shy creatures at dusk or dawn.

Rented for a week over Easter, house was superb to get all the family together. The welcome pack was great and the location perfect as my husband had a car driving experience booked at Castle comb nearby. Kids loved zorbing and slack lining at near by water park, while older members of the party enjoyed quiet walks and looking out for wild life. Everyone loved the out door pool and those that tried spa came back suitably relaxed.

The house is a firm favorite with families & friends alike. Open plan living spaces make the property a very sociable option. The design mixes the warmth of wood floors with the clean-cut simple style of contemporary furnishings. Families are particularly welcomed; there are plenty of activities for all ages. Children are well catered for with toys, games & books, well behaved dogs are welcome. Ground floor comprises a hallway with cloakroom (WC/basin), opening into a spacious living, dining and kitchen area. Furnished with two sofas, easy chairs, flat screen TV, Free view and DVD recorder. Internet access is available via Cotswolds Wireless, a local (subscription) service. Floor to ceiling windows bring the outdoors in, and you step out onto wooden decking, leading to a (unfenced) stream. The perfect place to sit out and eat breakfast in the sun. 5 bedrooms are on 1st & 2nd floor. There are two en-suites and one family bathroom. Egyptian cotton bedlinen & towels included.

Lovely house and a beautiful location

We have enjoyed a week's holiday in Songthrush at Lower Mill Estate. Amazing location for the children and adults to enjoy various sports activities and beautiful walks for the dogs too.

We love the Cotswolds and staying here have given us lovely memories to take home.

Wonderful family visit to Bath and The Cotwolds

I picked the Songtrush property because it was centrally located between Bath and The Coltwolds. The townhouse was very comfortable for the seven adults in our group. The facilities and surrounding nature reserve are beautiful. We plan to return soon to spend more enjoying the Spa and surrounding area.

Songthrush in December

A winter stay at Songthrush was an excellent idea. The house was warm and draught free and we relaxed around the wood burner in the evenings. The furnishings are modern and of good quality and the kitchen fully equipped. The days were spent walking the dogs around the lakes and enjoying the wildlife - a heron landed on the lawn just outside the French windows and stayed for half and hour on the first day! We also made use of the Spa which is one minute's walk from the front door - swimming in the very warm outdoor pool even though the temperature that day was 4 degrees. A massage and facial at the Spa was superb. The house is dog friendly though dogs must be kept on leads when outside. We were so comfortable we did not make use of any restaurants' or pubs. Would recommend Songthrush for a relaxing holiday.

Excellent property in a pefect location

We recently rented this property for a family weekend. The ages in our party ranged from 6 to 73. Liz the owner gave us fabulous hints and tips and we had a gloriously relaxing weekend. The facilities were excellent for the children and the local pubs and towns provided a chance for those who wanted to see a bit of the area to get out and about whilst some of us were happy to pour another glass of wine and put another log on the fire.

Lovely home, and a great spa on site!

We were a group of friends who met up at Songthrush for a few days away together. It was a lovely setting in which to catch up - we particularly enjoyed the open plan space downstairs with the wood burner. The house is in a lovely setting, with a spa facility on site and it was great to discover the outside pool was heated even in October!

Our nearest town is elegant, Roman Cirencester. A lively, attractive place full of smart shops, cafes & restaurants, a ‘real’ market, and a great arts centre. It has a Waitrose and Tesco – both of whom deliver to the Estate to take the ‘self’ out of catering. There are many beautiful Cotswold villages to explore, each with picturesque local pubs – many of which serve extremely good food.

There are comprehensive water-sports centres nearby, as well as jet skiing, cable skiing, water skiing, paint balling, sky diving, hot air ballooning, riding and golf.

For families, a short walk away is The Cotswolds Country Park & Beach, where you can hire cycles and boats, book sailing lessons, fish, cook a bbq and play on the sandy beach. Visit Butts Farm for baby animals and an award-winning farm shop & butcher; the Cotswold Farm Park, & Cotswold Wildlife Park.

There are also antiques in Tetbury, William Morris’s house at Kelmscott, Westonbirt Arbortorium and the Abbey at Tewkesbury.
