This newly renovated home is located on Long Island just off of Grand Island in the Sacramento River Delta. There are 3 queen bedrooms and 2 baths on two levels overlooking the river. In addition, there is a sleeper sofa for overflow for total sleeping space for 8. For the warm summer, an outdoor shower is privately located just under the main deck. Well behaved family pets are welcome, although the yard is not fenced. TV, satellite and wi-fi are available along with hundreds of VHS tapes and DVDs. The house has private docks both on the river and in back on the slough (or the dredge cut as it's known), so boat in or put the boat in the water at one of several nearby launch ramps. Fish off the docks or relax on the covered deck while watching the local skiers and fishermen work the water out front. Wood fire pit and comfortable outdoor furniture allows our guests to fully enjoy the weather at any time of year. There is an office set up in the lower bedroom, just in case you need to keep in touch while you're away.
We bought this house as a fishing shack and to have a berth for our 32' Erickson sailboat and have remodeled extensively in the years since. In fact, we lived in this house while reworking the house next door --where we live today. We are boaters who enjoy all the Delta has to offer and this house puts you so close to the water, you'll never want to leave. At least that was our story and why we moved from Sacramento. We are also active private pilots and involved in Sacramento real estate.
Martha Pearson purchased this house in 1996
Life is just better on the water --and you can't get any closer than this. The view, the immediate access to the water activities we enjoyed were why we chose this place to call home. If you don't do anything but sit and enjoy the view of the river, you'll be entertained by the water skiers and island is qient and charming with really nice neighbors. This kitchen in this house is a dream and stocked well with good quality appliances, dishes and cookware. If you're looking to cook up a few fancy meals while you're with us and wonder about specific items, just ask and we'll see what we can do to accommodate. We always stock the basics but include coffee, tea, spices, foil and plastic wrap as well. There is usually something edible in the yard --the Delta is known for it's lush abundance, and this property is no exception. We encourage our guests to take advantage of what we grow which will obviously change with the seasons.
Being on the water with your own dock means that you can take a quick water ski run, or fish a little then relax a while only to do it again without the hassle of taking the boat in and out of the water. The Delta is beautiful and this location is convenient to the Grand Island Mansion and the Ryde Hotel, both wonderful wedding venues. Isleton is about two miles and Walnut Grove about 10 miles. Delta fishing is awesome and this is great water for skiing -- right out front. From either of the two decks overlooking the water, the line between inside and out is deliberately blurred so you're encouraged to spend the days with the doors wide open to the great Delta weather. For cooler months, there is a cozy gas fireplace and heated floors to make things comfortable.
We had four adults and 2 children at this house and it was perfect for us. The kids LOVED exploring the house and yard and we all loved watching the river from one of the 2 decks. Morning coffee on the first floor balcony? A must. The kitchen is a dream kitchen with an island/bar seating, there are ceiling fans, comfortable couches and chairs, very cheerful décor and artwork by local artists. The hosts were extremely helpful and I'm only sorry I missed meeting them! The Check in/out was easy. Can't recommend staying here enough. Quiet, peaceful, idyllic home and surroundings.
We enjoyed our stay. The home is comfortably furnished with an open, family friendly living/ kitchen area. Both bathrooms were well stocked with linens, towels, and soaps. There are views of the Delta and a covered deck to enjoy company. The owner was responsive to our inquiries as well.
I had a feeling this property would be a great venue for my birthday celebration when I booked it, but this property is more amazing than the photos! Every family member or friend who walked in said "Wow...". Beautiful views, great decks, well appointed and extremely comfortable.
Martha and Robert are very welcoming and friendly - a truly gracious couple. We all hope to return and enjoy this Delta retreat again!
We rented the house on Long Island overlooking the Sacramento River because our daughter had an April 7th wedding at the Grand Island Mansion. It was the perfect place for everything necessary to the occasion: comfortable and just enough removed for relaxation in between festivities, well appointed for cooking for many, open and airy to accommodate bridesmaids prepping and photography and visiting family. And then there is the view!, and the decks! Our hosts, Martha and Robert, were very helpful and kind. There was quite a storm those few days, and they responded promptly with aid as needed, as well as finding solutions for other issues (like parking!) All in all, this is a wonderful house and now is an important part of our memories of a wonderful wedding. We look forward to booking again in a different season, to take advantage of the beautiful outside, the dock and the river
This place is truly, heaven on earth!!!
We are already booking our return!!!!
Super great owners!!!!!
The home is right on the Sacramento river and near the town of Isleton. Big bedrooms and great bathrooms. The chefs kitchen was a HUGE plus for us. We prepared some big meals so it made it easy to accommodate us. The deck is perfect for sipping coffee in the morning and watching the sunset in the evening. Would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the Delta.

It is an ideal spot for families to relax and enjoy all the outdoor water sports that are so enjoyable in the Delta. Relaxing days spent fishing, water skiing, swimming and floating are all waiting for you.
