Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Villa With Beautiful Pool Overlooking Stunning Scenery

Perched high on a hill this stunning villa overlooks the beautiful hilltop town of Torino di Sangro, on the unspoilt Trabocchi coast in Abruzzo. The villa is surrounded by spectacular views of the Majella mountains and the ocean.

The house provides a porthole view of the workings of a local Italian village on the hill opposite, whilst being far enough away to provide ultimate privacy and relaxation. During the day, you can swim in the refreshing infinity pool and enjoy the views of the clear blue Adriatic ocean. If you prefer a bit of beach life, one of the cleanest and safest beaches in Italy is 10 minutes drive away.

The house is set in its own private, gated grounds and has a pretty garden with several terraces to enjoy eating and drinking al fresco. Inside the ground floor, there is an open plan kitchen, dining space and comfortable sitting room with large leather sofas. Down a few steps and you will find two double bedrooms and a bathroom. Upstairs you will find the master bedroom and bathroom, next to a minstrel’s gallery with a large comfortable sofa bed with a view of the local village. The roof veranda with wrought iron table and chairs, is the perfect venue for supper on balmy summer evenings. For the more energetic visitor, a games room provides an opportunity to let off steam with table football or table tennis matches.

If you can tear yourself away from the ultimate retreat, the many bars and restaurants provide delicious local food and wine.

About Vivien Stevens

I am originally a Kiwi but sadly have now lost my accent having spent too long with the Brits. I am married to Rob, who after a long career as a Naval officer is now working in the Marine industry. We have two lovely children and one very special grandson all of whom adore coming to stay in Villa Farfalla

Vivien Stevens purchased this villa in 2004

Why Vivien Stevens chose Chieti

Having spent 4 years living in Naples, we fell in love with everything Italian and couldn't resist buying our wonderful villa. We chose Abruzzo as we loved the idea of owning a house by the sea and near the ski slopes. The region is unspoilt by tourism so you will have a truly Italian experience.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Farfalla has a phenomenal ability to relax you the minute you walk onto the terrace with a glass of wine in hand. There is something very special about hearing the gentle tolling of the church bells from the village whilst taking in the breathtaking views of the beach and mountains.

Bella!

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic villa with stunning near 360 degree views whose owners are attentive and a pleasure to deal with. We stayed with my family of 5 (two teenagers and a 10 year old) together with two further adults: there is enough space outside to all enjoy the fantastic sea and mountain views and just enough space inside using a sofa bed for all to sleep comfortably. The kitchen is an adequate size and is well stocked with pans and utensils. All bedrooms have good beds and linens and there were numerous board games to supplement the TV (which we didn't turn on). The local village is near but the walk is not suitable for the aged / infirm / moaning teenagers who might view the steep roads as a chore! The local beach is well organised with loungers and has lovely sand and a calm sheltered swimming area. Local restaurants are of a good quality and reasonably priced (e.g a main pasta for 10 Euros, a meat or fish for <15 Euros, wine around10 Euros etc). Vivien the owner is a pleasure to deal with and we understand that she spends some time at the villa herself when possible - the place has the feel of a home rather than a straight rental property and is all the better for it. There is a games room with a table tennis and table football games for any rainy days (we had zero) and the pool is a really good size with offset steps and a fixed depth (about a metre?) For non-swimmers there is the attached spill over smaller pool which is shallow and would be great for little kids to splash in. The local management contacts are a pleasure to deal with and Domenico can be your personal chef if desired (he's an ex restaurateur from Milan!). Try to learn some Italian before coming to this area as it is very local but this was exactly what we wanted! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and its the only villa we've stayed in where we would seriously consider a return visit - highly recommended!

Beautiful as every year!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed two wonderful weeks in this beautiful place. We have had tropical days, unusual here, and so we cooled down in the pool or at the sea. Italien food is our favorite, we enjoyed dinners with "cozze e vongole" and fresh fish.

This year was our 3rd here, we feel very comfortable here and have recommended this wonderful place to our neighbours who will visit Torino next year.

Stunning. Loved it. Beautiful views and a great week taking in the village festival

I love it every time I go. I adore the peace and quiet. Wonderful wildlife with swallows coming every evening to drink from the swimming pool. As the sun sets behind the ancient village it is almost as though one is in another world.

Sun, sea, stupendous

  • 5 of 5

Met by the friendly and helpful Ana Maria, whose husband Domenico also cooked a super meal for us. The villa is beautifully laid out - breathtaking views, especially from the wonderful infinity pool. Well-equipped, Viv and Rob have thought of everything, including lots of information about the surrounding area. None of us wanted to leave and all of us want to come back!!!

Fabulous Farfalle

  • 5 of 5

The stunning views, the swooping swallows above the glorious pool, the beautiful house and garden, the well equipped kitchen and the feeling that we were staying with friends who had just left us to it - what a perfect place for a holiday! We have rented houses in Italy, Spain and France for our holidays before but without a doubt this is the best one we have ever stayed at!

Food shopping in Torino di Sangro's supermarket to the markets in Pescara - plenty of beautiful products to keep your mouth watering...and restaurants galore serving the freshest fish dishes ... mmmm, I'm remembering the delicious 'crudi'!

Thankyou Vivien for your amazing hospitality and stunning Villa Farfalle and thankyou to Ana Maria and Domenico for their invaluable help and tips.

Looking forward to a return visit in the future!

Fabulous Farfalla

  • 5 of 5

Farfalla, like a still butterfly, is beautifully settled on a hilltop overlooking the pittoresque village of Torino di Sangro and its lush valleys with views of the mountains and the sea. A modern simple design includes a spacious sunny terrace and large infinity pool. Trees shrubs and flowers abound. Three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large comfortable lounge with a fireplace and spectacular round windows is great in the evening if unexpectedly cool. Torino with local shops and bars is a few minutes away. Equally the beach with gaily coloured parasols, safe bathing, restaurants and gelati is only a short trip. The classic Italian towns of Lanciano and Vasto are a pleasant drive through this little known area of coastal Abruzzo while a longer one will take you into the mountains with stone villages, tumbling streams and deep caves to explore. Do not expect to meet many tourists. This is a place for locals. Accessible by air plus hire car via Pescara on the Adriatic coast or Rome via Villa d'Este. The property was clean and tidy, and maintained to a high standard by caring local families known to its English owners for many years. Highly recommended for appreciative adults seeking the real Italy.

This delightfully tranquil rural area is very unspoilt and of outstanding natural beauty. The house sits on a small hill overlooking Monte Amaro, the old village of Torino di Sangro, and has views of the sea.

There are many festivals, and a wealth of small local restaurants. The wine of the region is excellent, especially the Montepulciano, and the beaches are pretty and safe. The local people are wonderfully friendly and helpful.
