About Lynda Davies

As a writer, this artist's studio is my perfect retreat from the busy world.

St Ives is inspirational - whether you are a walker, art enthusiast, gourmet, painter, potter or sun worshipper. Its clean air and wonderful light will re-charge your batteries and make you want to return!

Lynda Davies purchased this apartment in 2001

Why Lynda Davies chose St Ives area

As a former artist's studio, (used by Patrick Heron and also by the late Sandra Blow, a friend of mine), the apartment is at the heart of St Ives' artistic heritage. It has a happy feel and being so close to the beach, allows those staying to connect with nature and the sea in a special way. You can make your morning coffee or tea, walk down to the beach and have the beach all to yourself!

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment has windows on three sides. The sun rises in the living room, and sets on the landing, so you have light all day. The living room has a ten-foot window seat with views out across St Ives Bay, towards the Godrevy Lighthouse. It is a great place to sit and chill after a day walking the coastal path, surfing, or swimming in the sea, which is warmed, on Porthgwidden Beach, by the Gulf Stream. If the dolphins are around, you will have a great view from the window seat!

Guests are asked to water the houseplants!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for a great stay. I felt I relaxed immediately in your lovely studio. I did some paintings of the view from the window. I will be back next year!

A brilliant place to stay in St. Ives

  • 4 of 5

This is great little cottage/apartment which is perfectly located to explore St. Ives on foot, or by car thanks to its proximity to the Island Car Park. Being able to walk to Porthgwidden Beach to capture the sunrise in just a minute was brilliant. Very well equipped, and more spacious inside that some of the images make it appear. Beds were extremely comfy, everything very clean and tidy, shower lovely! Loads of kitchen equipment if you want to self cater, though we didn't really use it as there were far too many good restaurants and beach cafes in very close proximity! Booking and comms prior to arriving were simple and efficient, and the info provided by the owner (Lynda) was really helpful. Would absolutely stay again, and recommend to others.

  • 5 of 5

First impression of the apartment was how central it was to the beach and local amenities. It has breath taking views of the sea which I enjoyed while having my morning coffee. I would go back in a heart beat don't miss out on a top notch place in St Ives

Zelah Studio - A Perfect Little Gem

  • 5 of 5

Well what can we say that hasn't been said already !!! Zelah studio is a perfect little gem in a fantastic location a few yards from Porthgwiggen beach and in walking distance of the town.

The view from the studio is stunning and we loved sitting in the early evening and watching the fisherman throwing and bringing in their nets .

From the minute we booked the owner (Lynda) was extremely helpful making sure we had detailed instructions on how to get to the studio and information on what was available to see and do locally. Can highly recommend the Porthgwiggen Beach Cafe a few yards from the studio . Also, liked the local store that seemed to cater for all tastes... and great pastries, cakes !!!

The studio is clean and extremely well equipped and we loved the personal homely feel it had with the owners choice of paintings and ornaments. Lynda has thought of everything to make you feel quite at home from the minute you walk into the studio. We also greatly appreciated the freshly cut flowers that greeted us on our arrival....a lovely touch.

We loved every minute of our stay and would highly recommend it if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. WE LOOK FORWARD TO VISITING AGAIN.

Stress busting

  • 5 of 5

Wake up every morning to the most stunning view of St Ives Bay you won't want to leave. Support the local economy and buy the freshest homemade bread from the Norway store, and breakfast watching the fishing boats head out to get your fish supper.

The Studio is everything it says on the tin, with the means to make a cup of tea on arrival and a lovely touch - fresh flowers.

Park the car up you don't need it being only 50 paces from one of the best beaches and cafe (Portgwidden) and within 5 minutes of restaurants galleries and the start of the spectacular South-west Coastal walk (not for the faint hearted).

Lynda(owner) makes certain the studio is equipped and cleansed to the highest of standards.

The only downside is the secret is getting out - hope I get my booking next time

A week at Zelah Studio - Stress what Stress!
