Two bedroom apartment at Flamingo Country Club, which is a newly built complex with many amenities within walking distance. The following facilities are free to residents: Turkish bath and sauna; open air and indoor swimming pools, a small beach (reached by a cable car), film nights in open air cinema, children’s play area,
fitness centre and gymnasium, tennis, basketball and outdoor chess. There is a restaurant/bar (including club nights with BBQ and Turkish dancing); supermarket on the complex; 6 hole golf course on site and Vita Park golf resort is 10 minutes drive away; laundry; Dolmus bus to and from Bodrum. Our apartments have all you need for a comfortable holiday including air-conditioning in the sitting room and bedrooms; mosquito netting in bedrooms, DVD player and selection of DVDs, a roof top terrace or garden, satellite TV (free channels), books, hair dryer, four swimming towels.
Flights to Bodrum: Bodrum-Milas (Havaalani) is the nearest airport to Flamingo Country Club with a transfer time of about 20 minutes. The summer air schedules are broadly from mid April to mid October. Flight time is about 4 hours.
There are many direct flights from especially the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.
You can also fly via Istanbul to Bodrum. We can make recommendations for booking a taxi from the airport or hiring a car. There are more frequent flights to Izmir (Adnan Menderes Airport) or Dalaman but these have a 3 hour transfer by car to the resort.
Location: The complex is based in Tuzla and close to the fishing village of Bogazici. Several fish restaurants are on the sea front of Bogazici, offering fresh fish. The Tuzla area is famous as a natural sanctuary for birds, flora and fauna especially in the spring. Protected by hillside covered with olive groves, pine and tamarisk trees, the sweeping wetlands are formed by the inlet from the Aegean Sea. The pelican is among the most frequent species of birds to be seen here, while another common site is the Great White and Little Egret. Between the months of October and April, flamingos flock to the area by the thousands.
To be honest, I thought that at this price there must be a catch but absolutely not. The owners could not have been more helpful both before the trip and when we were there.
The apartment has everything you could want and more and the resort facilities are superb. You can either be very private at one of the 17 pools or join the other residents down at the bar pool.
My three teenagers loved it. Flamingo is one of three resorts owned by the same people. The free shuttle bus will take you between all three so the facilities, which include tennis, golf, a spa, a nightclub, turkish bath etc are all available and mainly free.
Bodrum is easily accessible without a car by Dolmus (local small bus - about £2) which departs and returns every hour right through until 4am. The town is a fantastic mix of the modern and the ancient. We particularly enjoyed bartering with the shop owners and eating by the marina at Ali Baba's.
There are many organised trips available from tour operators in Bodrum at a very reasonable price including swimming with dolphins, a day trip to Kos, diving, trips to Ephesus and Dalyan for example. Most include lunch and are available for between £25 - £35. I would advise that you don't use the tourist office near to the camp - there were lots of complaints whilst we were there and had a bad experience ourselves. Other operators in town though seemed to deliver exactly what was promised. Ask around to find out who is recommended.
Highlights were the food - the resort food is good as is the fish restaurant at Royal Heights. Sunset (at the end of the road) is superb and the prices amazing. The turkish bath and massage on site. The trips into Bodrum. The beach at Basko (follow the signs), the infinity pool and the Turkish Night (complete with food, traditional dancers and a belly dancer) at Royal Heights, the slides at the pool at Turquoise, the trip to the Aquapark, Hubbly Bubbly and apple tea with Hassan at the carpet shop, sat cross legged outside on several evenings - he won't hassle you to buy anything but loves to tell you legends and to introduce people to each other and the bar staff at Flamingo playing table football, pool and table tennis with the kids - fabulous. Thank you guys!
But my abiding memories of Turkey will be of the heat and light, the fantastically friendly people, and how wonderful it was to have 2 weeks with my family somewhere so beautiful.
And it being non-euro helps too! Amazing value. Can't wait to go back.
We just returned from our 10 day stay at Flamingo Country Club and had a wonderfull time to relax.
Elizabeth's and Dave's apartment is almost brand new, spotless clean, tasteful decorated and with top equipment.... - ...a feeling like in your own home! We enjoyed very much the beautiful terasse and our almost "private pool". The nice warm to hot weather was ideal to use the outside area.
The Club is rather new and the entire personal has been very friendly.
We definitely can highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to have a quiet and relaxing stay without noise and constant activities.
Beside the owners have been very friendly and most helpful with a heap of pre-information.
Recommendet for settled travelers, interested in culture, families with younger children and for a romantic holiday.
There are direct flights to Bodrum, which is 20 minutes away by road to the resort. It is close to picturesque villages, a variety of restaurants, beaches, night life, markets, water sports, golf courses and places of historical interest. Bodrum is about 30 minutes drive away, where there is castle to visit and an excellent night-life. You can take boat trips around the area or go diving. Ephesus is about 2 and half hours away by car. This was one of the Seven Wonders of the World from the Roman Empire.
Pummakale is about 2 and half hours by car
One can also do day trips by ferry to Kos.
Other Activities: Diving within 30 minutes drive in Bodrum
Golf: There is a 6 hole golf course on site at Flamingo Country Club. However, the main golf course is located a 10 minute drive from the apartment at Vita Park Golf Resort which is a two 18-hole golf facility.
1) The Milas par-7l, course offers the charm and challenge of an Old World course with a feel that is reminiscent of traditional Scottish links. The Milas course is born out of a deep love and respect for the game, a shared passion for excellence and a desire to play under the finest possible conditions.
2) The Halikarnas par-71, with its own private driving range, its lush native landscaping and flowing creeks and waterfalls tantalize golfers’ senses, while designed with a dramatic Arizona golf course look because of its topographic features. Classic-style bunkering with bold flashes of native white sand will complement the occasional stacked sod wall edges. The Halikarnas course is a “players club” with a very challenging layout from the tournament tees- a world- class championship golf course suitable for prestigious national and international events. The finishing 18th—hole, 425 meters, surrounded by a natural amphitheatre with its protected pine trees, dramatic waterfalls, and elevated 32 meters green from the back tee crowns the Halikarnas championship golf course. There is also Golf Academy, which features unrivalled practice and training conditions and facilities.
