Mid Century Home Review

Nicely updated home, bathrooms are excellent, bedrooms are nice and Casita a nice touch. The house is in a great neighborhood and a short walk to a number of amenities. Kitchen layout and appliances are good, cutlery, plates and glasses are well stocked, however the fitment of the cabinets is sub-standard (doors drag and dishwasher door hits cabinet handles when opening). The dining and living space is nice and open. The pool and backyard are nice, however a number of the landscape lights are broken or do not work and some of the water sprinkler heads are damaged or missing. The BBQ is small and was dirty when we arrived, we had to take time to clean it so there was not a fire. The living room gas fireplace was disconnected and not operational, which would have been nice for the cool evenings. A nice home in a great location. Some maintenance work on the house and yard to address issues would have made our stay 5/5.

This home was perfect for our Thanksgiving holiday. A good sized kitchen with so much equipment, everything was clean and in great condition throughout the house. Nice location in a lovely neighborhood. Comfortable bedrooms. I'm not a nitpicker by nature, but if I had to find fault with anything it would be that there was only one hand towel per bathroom. Minor stuff.

Nice place, good location, well equipped

We really enjoyed our stay. House is stylish and nicely furnished and the pool is terrific. Owner very responsive as well.

However if you like to sleep in bring an eye mask. Those high ceilings and un-shaded celestory windows make it impossible to truly darken the bedrooms (except in the Casita which is, conversely, cave-like).

It's a beautiful yet also very comfortable home. It's in a perfect location. Quiet yet close to downtown. Zach was available at any time for questions. The pool is lovely. We chose not to heat the pool and it was delightful. The kitchen is very well stocked. We were able to cook and barbecue with ease

About Zach

Our family has been vacationing in Palm Springs for four generations. There is something special about Palm Springs that continues to enchant us. Hugging the mountain on Highway 111 as we cruise into town melts our stress away and our first glimpse of the iconic mid-century modern architecture transports us to another time.

We got married in Palm Springs at the Viceroy in 2008. Since then, we have dreamed of opening a boutique hotel in Palm Springs. In early 2012, we stumbled upon this original mid-century modern Alexander butterfly roof home with its original footprint still in tact. We decided to fulfill our dream of owning a boutique hotel by carefully renovating and designing this house to provide guests with a hotel-like experience in a private home. We spent the next year carefully restoring it to its original splendor (with modern upgrades).

We are excited to offer this special property to our guests, and we hope our guests will treasure this house as much as we do.

This property is located in the highly sought after neighborhood, Twin Palms, in South Palm Springs. Twin Palms is home to the former Frank Sinatra estate and dozens of other mid-century modern homes designed by famed architects Palmer & Krisel for the Alexander Construction Company in the late 1950s (these homes are referred to as the 'Alexanders'). The neighborhood of Twin Palms is quiet and peaceful. However, restaurants, bars and coffee shops, including the Ace Hotel (which has a day spa and various evening entertainment), Kings Highway, Koffi and Elmers, are walking distance. The Smoke Tree Village Shopping Center, which has a grocery store and additional restaurants, is less than one mile away.
