About Zach

Our family has been vacationing in Palm Springs for four generations. There is something special about Palm Springs that continues to enchant us. Hugging the mountain on Highway 111 as we cruise into town melts our stress away and our first glimpse of the iconic mid-century modern architecture transports us to another time.

We got married in Palm Springs at the Viceroy in 2008. Since then, we have dreamed of opening a boutique hotel in Palm Springs. In early 2012, we stumbled upon this original mid-century modern Alexander butterfly roof home with its original footprint still in tact. We decided to fulfill our dream of owning a boutique hotel by carefully renovating and designing this house to provide guests with a hotel-like experience in a private home. We spent the next year carefully restoring it to its original splendor (with modern upgrades).

We are excited to offer this special property to our guests, and we hope our guests will treasure this house as much as we do.

Zach purchased this house in 2012

Why Zach chose Palm Springs

This house provides the quintessential Palm Springs experience: mid-century modern architecture; private pool and yard with citrus trees; mountain views; walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, bars and more; stylish new furnishings and decor; in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Palm Springs.

What makes this house unique

This property is truly unique because of its rare butterfly roofline, its modern, yet period-appropriate upgrades, its historical significance, its large backyard, and its orientation towards the mountain, resulting in mountain views from all bedrooms and the backyard.

This place is amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Seven friends and I stayed here in early Nov 2016. The house is very well equipped and sleeps 8 very comfortably. Pool heating option was totally worth it, made for an amazing stay and cool off mid-day. A 2 minute walk to Koffi and and 5 minutes to other restaurants. A quick Uber ride will have you downtown for $7. Zach was quick to respond before and during the stay (had to reach out to him for a problem we created, not related to the hosts). I wouldn't hesitate for a second to stay here again or recommend it to anyone else.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

This property was even better than described on the web site. Very clean and well-maintained. We rented this home for an end of summer golf trip. The location was great for this purpose. All of the courses we played were within easy driving distance and the best restaurants in Palm Springs are within minutes of the property. In addition, we all enjoyed the pool and outdoor living area; very tidy and comfortable. Zach was great with communications. All of the instructions were clear and unambiguous unlike some of the other places I've stayed. I highly recommend this property for anyone.

Great family getaway

Our family enjoyed our time in Palm Springs and the kids had a great time at the house by the pool keeping cool. We had plenty of space and the house came well equipped.

Lovely house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house with great facilities. Rental was very easy to arrange and the owner answered any questions very quickly. Separate casita meant we had ample space for four adults & two older kids. A fabulous rental that I would fully recommend.

Needs a good clean!

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at this rental property in late January, beautiful location and great neighborhood .

The house could have been cleaner, the high windows and patio doors were so dirty you could’n see through them, I cleaned the patio doors. The men had to take the Bar B Q apart and clean it before we cooked on it as it was filthy, my husband also had to take the vacuum apart as it was plugged solid and could not be used.

The kitchen was stocked fairly well, though 2 small frying pans, one well used, really is hard to cook for

7 or 8 people. The stove had to be cleaned as well.

The Pool was beautiful, the kids had a great time, though we did think the lawn matinance should come AFTER the pool cleaner, for obvious reasons.

The Casita was a nice area to spend time away from the rest of the group, but does need a little TLC , the fan in the bathroom did not work, toilit paper roll kept falling off the wall, and it would have been nice to have a closet rod, in the closet, not just boxes, so you couldn’t use it. The screen door on the Casita also didn’t work.

All in all, we thought the house really needed a good cleaning and a little TLC, yes I guess we should have phoned the owners, but I really feel that we should not have to take time out of our holiday dealing with issues that should be addressed every time renters leave the residence.

Owner's Response: While we appreciate the feedback we are disappointed that the guest did not contact at all during their stay to the extent they needed help with anything. We would have liked the opportunity to address any concerns they had as we have a cleaning person available every day to assist with any complaints (although a complaint would be unusual). We have a professional cleaner who cleans the property after each stay. In addition, we are continuously doing deep cleanings on the property which includes buffing and waxing the terrazzo floors, professional carpet cleaners and window cleaners. We inspected the property after this guest left and the windows were clean. Nevertheless, we keep a tight cleaning and deep cleaning schedule to make sure the house stays in great shape despite the harsh desert climate.

Amazing property!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house for my wedding week, and I stayed here with my fiancé (now husband!) and some bridesmaids. This property exceeded my expectations and was the perfect place for me and my friends to hang out and get ready for the wedding. The house looks just like the pictures and is even more luxurious and comfortable in person. The backyard is totally private and the pool is beautiful, clean, and warm. We paid the extra fee for it to be heated and it was so worth it. It was a comfortable temperature for the entire duration of our stay so we could enjoy the pool during the days and even a few times after dark. The fire feature was a cozy hang out spot and easy to use.

The kitchen was fully stocked. We used the grill to make dinner one night, and found it easy to use. They have all the tools and spices you need to prepare a meal and tons of serving platters and dishes. There's a dishwasher and garbage disposal, which made it easy to clean up. The bathrooms were really nice, with newly renovated showers and fixtures. There are tons of beach towels on site, but we ran out of bath towels and had to wash them, but there is a washer and dryer on site so it was an easy fix.

The rooms and beds were really comfortable. Most rooms had TVs with cable. The living room and master bedroom have a high vaulted ceiling, so it felt really spacious. The closet in the master bedroom was amazing, lots of room to unpack.

The location was great, very close to the Ace Hotel which has a cool pool, spa, and bar. There is also a Koffi only 2 blocks away where you can walk to get coffee in the morning, and also a great mexican restaurant within walking distance, El Mirasol. The house is located in a very nice neighborhood in Southern Palm Springs.

It really felt like the owner's thought of everything and take pride in maintaining the property for the comfort of their guests. We had a relaxing and easy stay and I'd definitely come back.

This property is located in the highly sought after neighborhood, Twin Palms, in South Palm Springs. Twin Palms is home to the former Frank Sinatra estate and dozens of other mid-century modern homes designed by famed architects Palmer & Krisel for the Alexander Construction Company in the late 1950s (these homes are referred to as the 'Alexanders'). The neighborhood of Twin Palms is quiet and peaceful. However, restaurants, bars and coffee shops, including the Ace Hotel (which has a day spa and various evening entertainment), Kings Highway, Koffi and Elmers, are walking distance. The Smoke Tree Village Shopping Center, which has a grocery store and additional restaurants, is less than one mile away.
