Custom built wrap around deck provides views of bay and lake and is perfect for sunning, games, cocktails, grilling and dining. Cabin is equipped with downstairs bar area, pool table, Ping-Pong, kids play and TV area and sauna.

Private bay is stunning - three large docks, quiet, perfect for herons, loons, space for floating, fishing, or discovering via kayak, paddle boat or canoe.

You will enjoy all the splendor Lake Vermillion has to offer …eagle watching, hiking or mountain biking the nearby trails, evenings by the fire pit, and countless meals and laughter as the sun sets over the lake.

Favorite summer amenities on site include two-person kayak, canoe, paddle boat, small fishing boat/row boat, two paddle boards, several flotation devices, and multiple sizes of life jackets, knee board, and water skis. In addition, you will have access your favorite summer outdoor games including badminton, bean-bag toss, ladder game, as well as a wide variety indoor board games and movies.

When visiting Ely you will have access to the Boundary Water Canoe Area, the International Wolf Museum, North American Bear Center, the Dorothy Molter Museum as well as countless unique shopping opportunities! Not to mention the most outstanding golf courses Minnesota has to offer in the Wilderness at Fortune Bay (a quick 20 minute drive) and The Quarry and Legends at Giants Ridge – a short 35 minute drive. McKinley State Park campground is a 10 minute walk from our cabin where you will have access to a playground, boat launch and water activities.

Winter months offer pristine conditions for quiet walks, relaxing by a warm fire or bundling up for a day of snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, dog sledding or downhill skiing at Giants Ridge Resort.

You will find our place to be warm and inviting. We recently updated the kitchen, dining room and both bathrooms. Our upstairs includes three bedrooms (2 king, 1 queen) a full and half bath. Downstairs you will find a pull-out queen couch and full-size futon. We also have available two single cots, a toddler-size blow-up mattress, a portable crib, and a queen blow up mattress. The Bunkhouse has 2 twin beds. Our dining room table will comfortably sit 8-12 as will the picnic table on the deck.

The property can accommodate up to three tents and a small camper for an additional nightly fee of $25.00 per night, per tent/camper.

Our Stay at the "Bay"

  • 5 of 5

The Bay was everything that we had expected and hoped for. We loved the seclusion, the beautiful views and the wildlife which treated us to sights of eagles, osprey, herons, loons, several species of ducks, the local beaver and what may have been an otter. While the weather didn’t cooperate as hoped, by giving us two days of rain, we enjoyed playing games which included a two-day pool tournament. Monday, Thursday and Friday we played in the lake, swimming, kayaking, boarding, and the younger ones jumping off the rocks across the cove. Thursday and Friday evenings were great as we were able to enjoy happy hour, dinner and “smores” by the camp fire. We were able to locate everything we needed for our stay which was thoroughly enjoyed by all

Family vacation

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at this rustic family retreat! With 6 adults and 3 kids I thought it would be crowed, but not the case at all. The cabin is rustic, but clean and comfortable. The large deck was great for cocktails and enjoying the view. A small screened in porch off the top deck was nice. We had some rain and a bit to cold for swimming, but when the sun was out it felt warmer than it was because of how protected this spot is. We sunbathed on the huge dock and enjoyed the paddle boat and caught plenty of fish! We went to Sudan mine and shopping in Ely on the raining days. We used the sauna in the basement and played games. The guest cabin was a bit to rustic to stay in. Not sure if anyone uses it anymore, but overall this cabin was perfect for our family. We really enjoyed this property and would come back to stay again!

Beautiful, Private Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I and our families (13 of us total) had a wonderful time at this great property. Other reviewers have mentioned the many, many amenities - in the cabin and for outside enjoyment. We really couldn't ask for more. We've vacationed in northern MN most of our lives and this will definitely be the place to return to when we are able! Thanks so much for sharing this gem on beautiful Lake Vermilion!

My family of 7 stayed here in Mid August 2015 for 7 days. Upon arrival we knew we had found the perfect cabin for our MN vacation. Everything a family could need was made available by the owners and I mean EVERYTHING! The cabin was clean and extremely comfortable and spacious. The 3 grandchildren enjoyed all the water toys especially the floats, Kayak, and paddle boat. The youngest really liked the small beach area for building

sand castles. All 3 had a blast with so much water to play in and so much room to roam around. We all enjoyed our nightly bonfires and eating s'mores. It was so peaceful and quiet we often thought we were the only ones on the lake! We brought our boat and the bay is so protected that had there been a storm (thankfully we had none) we had no worries. The "Bay" exceeded our expectations and we definately want to return. We would recommend it

without any hesitations. A huge THANK YOU for the wonderful accommodations, water toys, beach, fire pit, etc. The Bay" is a piece of heaven for anyone's vacation!

Our family stayed here at the end of July to the first week in August 2015. It was the first time we've undertaken a VRBO vacation and this rental exceeded our expectations. Absolutely everything a person/family would need to make this a great vacation this rental provided. Use of a power boat would have been nice but it was not necessary. The location is fantastic (secluded bay) and the accommodations are excellent. I would not hesitate to rent this property again nor would I hesitate to recommend this rental to others seeking a relaxing family vacation. My contact with the owner was very positive and I found her to be very helpful . This VRBO property was awesome !!!
