Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Huge Patio, With A Screened In Gazebo

Homeport Lodge is perfectly situated on the stunning Rockwood Pond in Fitzwilliam, NH, nestled between Mt. Monadnock and Keene, NH.

Drive down a sweeping dirt road only 90 minutes outside of Boston, and you find yourself in front of a log cabin, idly watching over a crystal clear pond in silent brilliance. Take a leisurely stroll on one of many wooded paths around the pond and you can soak in the beauty of Mount Monadnock, overlooking your vacation home.

The sandy beach offers a tranquil place for you and your family to relax during the warm summer months with a dock and raft for the children to swim and fish off of. A large front porch holds a dining table for sunset dinners and an attached screened in gazebo allows for quaint evening cocktails. The neighboring Rhododendron State Park is named after the acres of flowers that come into bloom in late July. The largest grove of “Rhododendron maximum” in New England, the plants white flowers greet New Hampshire with its pure and refreshing aroma mid-summer. Across the lake is the Cheshire Recreational Rail Trail, a dirt/gravel trail that runs from Keene, NH to the Massachusetts state line that allows snowmobiling, hiking, biking, and other various activities.

Our cabin offers seclusion, but it also comes with the convenience of nearby amenities. 15 minutes away is the town of Keene, where you can stroll down the picturesque Main Street. Home to a wide variety of restaurants and small shops where you and your family can treat yourselves to a delicious, affordable meal. Book early enough, and you can experience the world renowned Keene Pumpkin Festival in mid-October.

If you stay during the winter months, this home is a winter wonderland of outdoor activities. Set up some ice fishing traps out on the ice and come back to the cozy cabin for some hot chocolate. Go for a snowmobile ride on the hundreds of miles of trails NH, VT, and MA have to offer or just relax and go for a nice ice skate on the pond.

About Owner/Property Manager

We have lived in New England our entire lives and love what the area has to offer. We bought our second house in New Hampshire after our parents sold our family cabin. Our three kids have grown up loving the outdoors and now that they are out of the house, the house offers the meeting place we all come back to.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Fitzwilliam

Perfectly located, you can seclude yourself and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains, or you can hop in the car and fifteen minutes later you can be at a beautiful restaurant in Keene.

What makes this cabin unique

The house is large enough to have different family areas where children can play on the dock outside, or come in and dry off downstairs, watching a movie or playing board games, while the adults enjoy cocktails on the patio. You have a beautiful family room to enjoy each others company, but enough space that you aren't stepping all over each other.

Relaxing Vacation with Family

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time using VRBO...Lorraine the homeowner made everything so easy. Any questions asked, she answered. She was available by phone if any problems/concerns came up. The lake was beautiful and peaceful, and the use of the kayaks were a plus. My son had so much fun fishing and exploring the lake (extremely clean). The home was comfortable and had all the amenities...I mean everything!!! The gazebo was comfortable to sit in,and relax with a glass of wine. Needles to say my yellow lab had the time of her life in the water!!! Thank you Lorraine for sharing your house with my family..we certainly came back with great memories!! Hope to see you next year!!

Stunning Views, Cozy, and very New England-y

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful oasis! We live in South Carolina and needed the New England break! We went for a hike up Mt Monadnock, used the cabin's kayaks, hung out by the lake, had a wonderful dinner on the patio and watched the sun set. It was a truly magical (and quiet!) place. The owners were friendly and quick to respond to their email. The kitchen was well equipped which was a huge connivence since we mostly stayed in and cooked. We will definitely be back to explore the surrounding area which we hear has dynamite food and very cute shops. Overall it was very romantic, cozy, and New England-y! We recommend this house to anyone wanting to really enjoy the peace and quiet!

Stayed there twice over the summer and both times it was amazing, So nice to step out the door and have the water at your door step, The pond is super clean, nice kayaking not busy with boats or people. Truly a tranquil vacation. The cabin it self is charming and has all the comforts of home.

Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at the Homeport Lodge this August. The cabin is cute as can be! It is welcoming and comfortable, clean, tastefully decorated and very well appointed with kitchen necessities, towels, and recreational gear. The temps were a bit chilly for swimming, but we had a great time kayaking, canoeing, fishing, watching the sunsets and roasting marshmellos. The beach is shared with neighbors, but they were only there on the weekend and were very nice. It felt very private and secluded, most of the time.

We did some grocery shopping in Rindge but had so much fun at the cabin that we did not explore the attractions in the surrounding area, other than a hike up Mt. Monadnock.

The owner was very pleasant and easy to work with. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this property to others.

Extremely pleased with our overnight! Great and quiet location, clean and well maintained and a comfortable bed. We did not go to any attractions or restaurants as we were very happy to enjoy the great out doors. the cute hummingbirds at the feeder and the clean and sparkling lake that we could see from the well furnished. porch. We used the gas grill and enjoyed our dinner in the screened in gazebo . We would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys the great outdoors and a cozy and warm cabin that is well furnished and clean.

Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a delightful stay. A wonderful, cozy, private setting on a pond. Nice view of the sunset. The lake was frozen, but presented a great opportunity to hike or snowshoe across the lake or above the lake, enjoying the view. The cottage warmed up nicely when we arrived and was warm despite the chilly temps outside. The cottage is well appointed with all of the necessary kitchen items. This is a great place to escape and relax. (Keene is a short drive away if you feel too relaxed and need to return to civilization and find a restaurant or shopping. Very clean, quaint house.
